Description

Leppington TS10360

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Leppington.

Serial number is: TS10360.

Last Inspected on: September 21, 1977.

Elevation is: 146 metres.

This trig is on top of a reservoir on Woodglen Park Road - not far from Camden Valley Way . No direct access. Photo of tank possible from road, photo of trig only possible from George Road. A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

We were in Camden for a new LGA, couldn't leave without finding at least one trig. We tried to get closer but between the sides of the reservoir and the trees, ended up but nearly on the main road anyway....

Hmmm, that looks like a water reservoir, think there would be a trig on top.... yes, caching at 100km/h.

Out caching with ziggiau on this beautiful Boxing Day. We made the area around Warragamba dam unsafe and had a great time! All the best for 2018 for all the COs!

"There is a reservoir" "take a picture!!!"

#GA1255 - 18:10; After collecting a few caches around Moss Vale, Bowral and Berrima, Sol de lune and I headed across the highway into Wollondilly for some trig hunting. Sadly, Warragamba Dam had closed for the day, so we set off further north. This was our second trig stop and after grabbing a shot of the trig through the trees from the closest road, discovered that Camden Valley Way provides a better view. Unfortunately, we had to keep moving with the traffic when we had made this discovery. TFTT Geocaching Australia Very Happy

Another quick stop and photo...albeit through the trees. Could have taken the photo from Camden Valley Way, but there was no where to stop....safety.

Found this one while out visiting friends with the family.

Spotted this as I was driving up the road to my Aunt's 70th birthday party at Oran Park, turned off & got a bit closer but couldn't see the trig anymore, so the photo is from a fair bit back, near the fig tree farm.

Spotted this one while driving along Camden Valley Way last week but weren't able to stop so came back today to pick it up. A bit tricky to get a decent picture so please excuse my thumb.

Having spent a day neatby visiting refound friends, I spotted this trig as we drove home.
A quick snap was taken to log the find, and then I had to work out which trog it was once I got home.

We were driving between 2 caches when I spotted this trig in the distance. Quick pull over to the side of the road to take some pictures.

Driving in from the south and I was certain there was nothing on top of this. However, after a quick U turn up the road it soon became startlingly obvious from the other direction. Pulled over for a couple of pics and then onwards.
cheers,
Wal

Found with rogerw3 during our recent afternoon of trig finding -- 9 trigs in less than six hours and 7 FTFs . . .

Photographed on top of a reservoir adjacent to Woolgen Park Road near Leppington, NSW.

Initially we had some trouble finding a good place for the required photos, but eventually got some good shots.

Found on a Trigging trip with pjmpjm, our second of 9 for the day. This is a bit tricky to get a photo of with trees in the way and not enough of an angle to see the Trig properly. Nonetheless it is there and you can see it plainly.

Just managed to get a shot from Woolglen Park Road of the trig between the trees on the way back from a meeting a Narellan. It's one that stands out but once you get close is hard to see.

I too stopped in front of the tomato farm for the best shot of this one.

100 Trigs!!!

09-Dec-10
Stopped at the florist just down the road and scored 2 bunches of Red Roses for my wife for just 10 bucks! Laughing
Pulled over on Camden Valley Way and made this a real drive by by taking the shot from the drivers seat of my car..
Nice to have an excuse to pull over and see things other than the tail lights in front of you.

I was only sitting in traffic last week on my way home looking at the water tanks and wondering if this was on the GCA list of Trigs. So when I saw this one this morning, I knew exactly where it was. This afternoon on our way home from the city took the opportunity to stop and have geo-wife take the photos. Thanks Yurt, not sure if this is a FTF as the CO has already logged a find. Spotted this one when down near Camden. It's easy to spot the trig from Camden Valley Way but difficult to get a photo from the street nearby. The best spot was from out the front of the tomato farm on George Road. The small, tall US-style water tower is rather impressive too.
