Logs
I guess that 'everybody' celebrates New Years Day in different ways. I was wanting to find and photograph some waymarks in the Gosford area, as I down to only x 5 within a 160 km radius of Tinonee; and I to keep on fill up that Calendar.
When I looked up my GSAK database of trigs in the area I noticed this "Unloved" one, and thought I would 'give it a go'.
The sun set as I was heading down the track and went past a couple coming up from the Bouddi Lookout.
Headed north, and saw that there was going to be no short cut I could make, so continued on to Caves Bay. Just before that gully I heard a strange squeal and hiss at my feet, stopped, turned the torch on, and found a 'lost' "Yabby". I had to continue using my headlight from here on to the rock platform.
It is a bit tricky working around the fallen rocks to where this very rusty metal post is for the trig!
Took a few photos, including some 'timed' photos, to get the best of the early evening, finding it at 2020, on Sunday, New Years Day, 2017.
Getting back was a bit easier.

Rated: for Overall Experience
After the FTF of Bombi trig we retraced our steps to the Maitland Bay track and headed downhill and then down the many steps to the sign at Caves Bay. From there we followed the creek to the boulder field and scrambled a couple of hundred metres around the cliff base until the going became much flatter and easier with 120 metres to go. There was the rusty old post in plain sight on the rock platform. No vanes but it was a bonus to see a plaque.
