completed in the morning after going to the fish markets – needed to justify the unjustifiable road tolls that you pay so did a little caching in this part north of Sydney on the way home. Parked near the Crematorium & did the walk here along the great northern track – a very nice & interesting / different trig completed - many thanks

After an early Mother's day morning tea in the National Park we crossed the river to grab these two trigs.
This structure is readily apparent and pretty interesting to look at. We wondered what it was before it was co-opted for a trig point.

I happened to be staying in the area overnight and after catching up with my daughter at the Comic Con and catching up with cachers at a GCNSW event, I went home but was bored. So I decided to see what GCA caches there were in the area. Seeing there were a couple nearby and having a car handy to drive around, I decided that would fill some time.
This thing reminded me of a water fountain, or a memorial of some kind. I looked around for a sign explaining it's orignal use or when it was built but couldn't find anything. I really liked it and had a bit of fun walking around on it. I snapped 3 photos here. One looking down upon the monument trying to get a bit of the detail of it with GPS in shot. Another with moi in shot. And another of the head turning wattle there. I could smell that delicious flower and followed my nose. I'm not really used to smelling wattle in December. Was lovely and refreshing. A little bit might have got caught in between my fingers and fell off into my hand. Oops. haha.

Have driven up from Goulburn to spend the afternoon having a BBQ and walk along the river with a group of friends at Blackmans Park.
Our mission for the rest of the afternoon was to head to the oldest cache in Australia. Was glad to finally be where it all started.
Of course, I then couldn't resist a short detour to the entrance of the park for a few quick trigs. This was the second of 3. After snapping the Weir trig nearby, I ran over to snap this one. On the way over to Weir there had been a group of people climbing all over this once. But when I returned there was no-one in sight. Quick photo and off to the last trig before heading home.

I only have a vague understanding of how trig points work but it seems a little odd to have two so close together. Its an interesting one all the same.
Visited this one at 10:25 while on the way to visit the nearby 'original cache'. Nice spot.
Thanks Geocaching Australia.

Geocaching Australia (GCA) Cache Find Number 1064 - 10525 overall cache finds.
Found during a run up to the big Lane Cove Event with Sol de Lune, Toy Hunters and LuckyL10n when we decided to grab a bunch of trigs as well. While I mainly looked for GC caches, when an easy GCA cache comes along we go for that as well. Trigs are particularly nice to track down and find. I was very happy when they became part of the GCA cache family. Its especially satisfying if you have made a big climb up for one ! I have also now joined dragonZone in Clan Cerberus, so there are more reasons to find those GCA caches. Its interesting to find the many different types of trigs. From the traditional metal legs and vanes, to the concrete base with vanes, to the ones on top of water tanks (especialy the red ones !), as well the new CORS type. When you look on a GCA map and see all those hundreds and hundreds of blue 'Z's it shows just how many there are out there. Shame so many are on private property and cannot be accessed at all. So as far as I'm concerned every trig that can be found and photographed is a real bonus !
The trig was quickly 'found'. Piccie taken and posted.
Thanks Geocaching Australia !

#GA490 - 10:05; The day had arrived and it was up at sparrows to join toyhunters, fitzy_1965 and Sol de lune for a trip to Sydney for the 'Let's Party - Come Celebrate Australia's First' Event. After the early start we were approaching the venue in plenty of time, so stopped by to bag this trig on the way past after making our way in to the National Park. TFTC Geocaching Australia

A quick stop and pic while here for the GC event. Now that is interesting along with its nearby mate.
Found with NM and DBO on the way home from the Lane Cove 15 year anniversary! Always love a trig find! Thanks GA.

Always good to come to this NP. Seen the trig many times but never realised what it was = assumed it was a memorial.

We came to Lane Cove National Park today to search for Australia's first cache, Lane Cove. Whilst there we noticed that there were two Trig Points close by. This Trig Point was found quite quickly. The required photo has been added to the Gallery. TFTC
Found on the NSW leg of our Round Aust trip
We had a bit of a late start to the day today as we were off to LUNA PARK! Before we headed out we went for a walk down along the river to see the weir, while we were here I checked if there was any caches nearby and this was the closest so we took off to find it. It was a nice easy find (The way we like them, lol.) .
TFTC,
Thanks from Margaret River West Australia!

Very strange putting a trig in a valley! But we started the CITO here so it was a good chance to grab it.
Pre CITO trig on a great sunny day. Gonna be a great day!

Found this lovely stone trig after our walk around the river today. I'd thought it was used for gardens in the past but rogerw3 says it was for barbeques
The second quick trig almost at the same spot while on the way through - which was no problem to find . Funnily enough I was working in the park on Ttuesday, but at the other of the roadway, however that day I did not have a chance to get here before we moved to the next location.
It was good to be able to use the NPWS pass to drive in there and we spotted this one without consulting the GPSr. Recognise the top as a structure we've seen on many pedestal trigs where the vanes have been 'replaced'. An impressive stone structure, all trigs should be like this one! A very large family of ducks grazed nearby - I think the parents have adopted a few of their 17 ducklings.
Despite calling in here for many a picnic I never looked closely enough to realise this was a trig!
Lane Cove National Park
Lovely old stone structure with a whitish 'knob' on top.
And the unusual 'Gravity Station' nearby was a bonus.
Thanks to rogerw3 for re-discovering this trig and publishing it.

A new Trig in the area. Drove past, pulled up and got a 2 4 1 deal Took the photos and drove back to work.

Found today while in the area looking for a gravity station, The old BBQ structure is quite unusual and has not been used for many years by the looks of it. Nonetheless the usual Trig plate and tri mount for Theodolite is in place with provision for mounting a beacon if required.
