Description

Turramurra TS10670D

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Turramurra.

Serial number is: TS10670D.

Last Inspected on: July 24, 1979.

Elevation is: 179 metres.

This is a stone pillar with a combined direction plate and trig mounting plate with plug on it, no beacon was erected over the top, in common with several other Trig Stations.

Unfortunately the plate has gone missing (stolen?) and there is no other indication that this is a Trig Station, it seems doubtful that even if the direction plate is replaced it will be restored with the Trig mounting plate.

Logs

02-Jun-24
Another day criss crossing Sydney for LGAs... a couple of weeks ago we tried to collect 11 LGAs in a day, coupled with a CITO to start, but ran out of time and daylight. We returned to finish our task today, with three left - Woollahra, Lane Cove and Willoughby. The heavy rain of 24hr ago held off, but left creeks flowing well that is for sure.
We had to park in a carpark off the other side of the highway and walk for this unusual trig...

17-Jul-23
Had driven past here a few times, when living in neighbourhood, long before geocaching.

30-Oct-22
I was in the Turramurra so made the effort to locate this trig. Very Happy

We saw this listingwas close to the station we riding past so we decided to jump off the train for a break and a snack.
It took us longer than we thought to get from the train to the trig, so we ended up having a bit of a rushed snack before heading back for the next train. In the rush, we didn't get a good photo of the pedestal so here are the kids looking back towards the park.

I came to Turramurra to log the SideTracked cache, but noticed this close by. So wandered the short distance to photograph the trig. An unusual trig. TFTC.

07-Jan-19
On a caching run with friends collecting some more caches for the current Journey or Destination game currently being run on Geocaching Australia.

07-Jan-19
Not hard to find this one!

07-Jan-19
No parking at this location...parked at the shops and came back.

07-Jan-19
Could not park nearby...had to walk back. Worth the walk though.

Two big caching days in a row to find some specific caches in the Hornsby and North Sydney area. Great weather and reasonable traffic made for an excellent day! This is one of the trigs picked up along the way.

An interesting trip point...but no problems getting to it to grab the photo.

While I was with my very dear friend (and agony Uncle!) we walked past this Trig so had to do the duties, interesting little park there.

30-Aug-14
Am pretty sure that this is one that I didn't know existed while living in Wahroonga in the 80's. Had seen this one in GCA so kept an eye out for a spot to park. Found the stone pedestal, and as mentioned nothing on top.
Photographed it, but they didn't come out very well.

21-Jul-13
stopped in town for a quick meet up and wandered via some portals to pick up this trig. Sad the plate has been nicked Sad

27-Dec-11
Well I couldn't find the cache in the park, at least the TP meant it wasn't a wasted journey!

21-Nov-11
I had parked near Turramurra station for today's commute, so it was an easy diversion to drop by this Trig on the way home, including a visit to the nearby GC cache. I wonder how permanent a marker the trolley will be?

TFTT!

23-Oct-11
Got FTF on the nearby cache here

08-Oct-11
Loggged on a morning run on the way out to 'Jump', nice quick find... TFTC! Very Happy

15-Sep-11
This was a trig different to all the others I have found.

14-Sep-11
Found the place, found the stone pilar and took some photos. Intersting little Trig.

02-Sep-11
Was out in the wilds today for a moment and thought I'd grab this as the second nearest unfound to home. Also could continue some sort of GC-GCA combined geostreak as I gave up on the GC streak today.
Have driven past this spot several thousand times going to and from work in my past life but didn't suspect a trig here. I did find a 'Turramurra' trig list on Geoscience Australia and used the services of rogerw3 to track it down, thanks!
Pity the "Lookout, which direction?" is gone otherwise it would be a locationless too.
Looked for the despised nearby GC cache and couldn't find it where I last put it so who knows where it is?

15-Aug-11
Pulled off to the side of the Pacific Highway and quickly logged this one on my way back to Dural from Chatswood.

Brought back odd memories of a nearby GC . . .

Thanks to rogerw3 for re-discovering this trig . . .

10-Aug-11
Made a slight detour from Chatswood station on my way to Central Station!!!
The stone pillar is still there next to the footpath on the Pacific Highway. The combined direction plate Trig mount has been taken so there is nothing left but the stone pillar. But that is the remnants of the Trig.
And yes I am aware that there is a cache 5 metres away, but since it is a micro I treated it with the contempt it deserves and ignored it. So many other hiding spot where you could have put a small or even regular cache.
