Day 82 Mainland trip - OZGM
Now based at Cataract Park we headed out today with Tassie Trekkers and stopped at the Sublime Lookout and made the walk to the trig. This trig wasn't visible until you were just about on top of it. No view at all. We were spoiled at Sublime with a spectacular view. The required photo has been added to the gallery. TFTT

Out with fitzy_1965 to take advantage of the bonus points on offer this week.
Having solved most of the Princes Highway Puzzles, they were our main target today. All were found quickly & easily unless otherwise mentioned.
Made a few detours for trigs too. Last bush bash for the day!

Last time I was here, the weather was hot and I didn't feel like traipsing through 60m of scrub with the potential of snakes. Today the weather was cool and I was on the correct trail, which told me that I only had 28 metres of scrub to battle. Not too difficult.

Okay, someone needs to bring a set of secateurs here, and paint to spruce it up. Poor neglected trig, with a famous name. TFTC.
Follow the pink ribbons.

I have visited this Trig a few years back in 2013 but never logged it, so as I was on my way to Sydney it was the prefect time to stop and revisit it. TFTC.

This second trig at sublime lookout took a little more effort to reach. It has badly over grown shrubs to get through to find. Sadly it is just the base now no sign of the mast and vanes

Lucky1955 & I were heading to Helensburgh to do the puzzles loop but stopped to pick up a few Trigs on the way.
This one probably claimed a bit of skin, but it was a thrill to find it tucked in there.

The last 25m to the trig are "interesting" and the trig itself is a bit lonely and unloved in the scrub. So I gave it a quick hug before leaving.
Found at 2.13pm.

Another targeted trig ticked off our list. Not the most graceful of approaches which seemed to take forever to get to, luckily we found an easier way out.

Out with phlphotos and JJCC grabbed a few needed trigs in order to fill our D/T grid. This particular trig was the most difficult one tackled today

That proved to be a very difficult trig to get too. At 35 metres away headed into what looked like a trail. How wrong did that end up being. The trail soon ended & I ended up in a tangle of branches which seemed to get tighter which ever way I turned, it seemed every time I looked at the GPSr it said 10 metres. I think I was wandering around for about 10 minutes till I came across the trig but it felt like 30 minutes. Took the mandatory photo the name plate is still there which is the photo I took. Then I saw 2 pink ribbons so I followed them and was out in 2 minutes about 10 metres away from where I originally entered. Thanks for the trig

Found while doing the Geotrek2017!
Spotted while trying to correct the direction we went in after a wrong turn coming from Appin road.

On a 'gong escarpment trig road trip with rogerw3.
A walk across from Sublime, via the cafe, and up a taped-off freshly laid rocky road. Near the reservoir another track wound off into the bushland, and with rogerw3's renowned determination a Garmin directed path through the thick growth was ventured to the trig ... it is surprising how two trigs relatively close could be so differently 'exposed'.
A brief fruitless search was made for the, it would seem, long gone mast and vane. Bulli is showing signs of weathering but is still in reasonable condition and with name plate in place.

Out on a Trig hunt with Whitemushroom.
A bit of bush bash is needed to find this one, it is well hidden sadly the mast and vanes have gone but the pedestal is still in place.

#GA665 - 16:55; Sol de lune and I had discussed a wild trig hunt in the Illawarra quite a while ago and today was the day we tried to bring home the bacon. We had collected a few on the way down the mountain and in to Kiama, before heading north for a DNF in Shellharbour then on to the main section of the Tour de Illawarra. Not far from our previous find, but nowhere near the views. In fact, we had to bush bash the last few metres in to the trig from the track we had taken. Snaps taken and we were off again. Found with LuckyL10n on our day trip to The Gong....
Heading towards home now, but after visiting the nearby lookout trig, we headed up for this one...and once in the bush, the trig was soon spotted. Good fun.

This one has been unloved for a while and it shows just how much the landscape has changed over the years. You cant see it until you are literally right on top of it and be prepared for scratches a plenty bush bashing in! The sight lines are long gone and no track remains once you leave the fire trail. Tricky trig this one!

Heading home from Wollongong with spare time...Time enough for a trig or two. A short scrub bash after walking in along the track.

I disagre with Yurt, even the last 20 meters there is a track, although very, very overgrown!

Only a few hundred metres from the beautifully sited 'Sublime' trig we think this one should have been called 'Ridiculous'.
You can find a track which takes you most of the way but 25 metres out you have to part the scrub and make your way through to the trig which is in good condition although without vanes or mast. This appears to have been officially removed as the the piece on top (theodolite stand?) has been taken out completely. Normally this remains. The plaque is still there though.
Worth the effort.
