Visiting friends in Orange just after Christmas we popped up to the busy top of the hill for a few cheeky trigs and the views.

11-Feb-21
Out with Just a cacher on a caching run and grabbed this one as we passed by.

Thanks for the trig

A quick find with Black Bunny as we were in the area.

Exploring the area on our way home from Forbes. A beautiful Spring morning to enjoy the view. I was wondering which towers were which, and MrT thought the two with red stripes on them were the likely ones. ABC1 is the big one in the middle (I think) TFTT

It was misty at the top...

Gee, I thought we were hard, venturing up here this morning in 6 degrees, rain and whiteout fog/cloud. It seems our colleagues before us take that honour! What a spot, we'll have to return when we can see though! We thought we had the two towers in our first pic, but they didn't seem far enough apart as the GPS suggested - we walked over a little further into the soup and another tower appeared....

On an Orange surrounds trig hunt with rogerw3 in dismal Wintery conditions ...

A gate closed due to snow, and a companion that sees no hurdle stands between a trig, it was for a park and walk to the top. It was not overly steep, but goodness it was cold, and it was for a few hundred metres of snow covered roadway to traverse to near the top - and then it was truly cold in the rain driven wind. There be better days to view this trig, and the attached photo is from rogerw3, as my camera, indeed myself, could not cope from the conditions.

Found today with whitemushroom on our tour of some local Trigs. Almost no visibility and freezing wind!

Three in one. Nice. Finally escaped Dubbo and decided to camp at the Federal Falls camping ground last night. Picked up three trigs when I arrived. Just missed the sunset. Sad

What an amazing view from up here, what a location – may not be in the middle of winter with high winds but today was very good – completed all 3 off trigs up here

What next ? Passive trig-points Cool
So I could be just as passive in finding it Razz
Certainly no problem finding this tower, although accessing the exact coords at the centre of the tower footprint isn't possible without an "access all areas" pass Smile
No telephoto lens required here for a photo.
I went the opposite and selected the fisheye lens instead Very Happy

Was up here for the views, caches and trig just before new year and I suspected that these towers were trigs. You can see these from well before you get to Bathurst so they serve a purpose for long range navigation. Easier to spot than the little plinth of 'Canobolas' trig nearby. Two for the price of one in this photo. ABC1 is the large red and white topped one on the right, CNB8 is to the left of the GPSr.
