Description

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated..

After walking along the wrong track I eventually backtracked to get to GZ. Well worth the effort as the view was excellent.

"Thank you for the cache.

MrsD got most of the way out but turned around when the track got a bit too wet.
It would have been a lovely trig in the past.
Lovely views.

MrsD and I were up the NW on a four day weekend.
Today we stopped off to find a few caches on the way back home.

Found on Sunday 25 October 2020 at 0947

Today i came to Edgcumbe Beach to see a customer for work, he wasnt home yet so i took the oppurtunity to head further along the road to go get this trig, whilst walking down the track towards the trig, he green slimey mud was very slippery so it was a challenge not to fall over whilst walking down the path, once i arrived at the ground zone the trig was soon spotted and a photo was taken. walking back up the track being a tad more cautious than coming down and back to the car and off to see my customer. This is the first ever GCA we have found but i didnt know how to log it. Came home and looked into GCA to learn a bit more. We are avid cachers on the Worldwide geocaching site (almost 2000 finds) and are now starting checking out GCA caches to mix it up a bit. So this is our 3rd log but the trig point, which GeoboyB11 noticed will be remembered as our fist.

I love the north coastline of Tasmania, with it's fascinating, beautiful, often harsh rock formations, fossils, etc. Such sharp coastal rocks here. TFTC.

Ticking off a few trigs as we head NW to Stanley. Enjoyed the walk out here despite the mud and nearly falling over. Great views from here. Found with TazScout

Found quickly as I have been here before.
On the way back to Rice Custard, we spotted some kid trying to hide - told him he needs to be quieter and to keep practicing, so he followed us (quietly) and scared us as we got to the end of the track.
Thanks for the cache!

Another cool spot for a trig. Took the short-ish walk and soon arrived at the old platform. Photo snapped and all was good. Actually grabbed the GC as well just for something different today.

Had quite an interesting walk, or should I say skate, to this one. Track was very wet and slippery and we nearly went down many times. Great views of some very jagged rocks from GZ. Thanks

Found this one when searching for the cache just next door but didn't take a photo. So at least we knew exactly what we were looking for when we came back in today. TFTT
