Description

Hawkesbury LO Old TS?

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Hawkesbury LO Old.

Serial number is: TS ?.

Last Inspected on: July 18, 1977.

Elevation is: 220 metres.

The original Trig plug described as lead plug is still there at the Hawkesbury Heights Lookout, just beyond the safety fence.

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to access.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on 'Log this Cache' and placing an 'Archived' log on the Geocaching Australia website.

If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty/terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

Found this one a while ago but it looks like i missed logging it, seems it is being much more of a challenge these days with the long grass overgrowing the area

Heading to the Hawkesbury I decided to come via Hawkesbury Lookout.I noticed that this trig had been logged since my DNF and that HansJJ had found it and removed the dirt. I pulled up with no muggles around and eventually spotted it. Poked my GPS through the fence to get the photo and only just managed to get it back without going to look for a retrieval stick. Back to the car just as a mini bus pulled up. Thanks HansJJ for the help.

Went on an early morning drive to find 2 off trigs here today on this Celebration Day: Geocaching in Australia Anniversary - Find a geocache on the anniversary of geocaching in Australia Lane Cove 18th May 2000.
A very nice view here today & enjoyed the drive up here.
I can understand why thomo31 was unable to find it – I had to jump the fence & do a bit of cleaning of the dirt at disc area – disc was covered with dirt - thanks Clan Griffin

Well I can't say I enjoyed it as much as the new trig nearby but that didn't change the view! Worth it for that!

Found this Trig with Team Merlin.

Out with JJCC on a cache run along Hawkesbury Road. After finding the nearby Hawkesbury LO trig, we started searching for Hawkesbury LO Old. Initially we couldn't see anything as the vegetation on the other side of the fence has recently had a haircit...but we noticed something and went in for a closer inspection...trig point found.

Missed this one last time I was here. So today's stop was all about this old trig point. Finally located it. It could be easily missed if to much leaf litter get in the way. Took my happy snap in order to move on

Found on the way home after a morning caching at Winmalee before heading back home. I missed this the previous time I was here but this time I spotted it. Took the photo. Thanks for the trig cache

'Tis only rogerw3 that could unearth this over the fence speck - its existence and its location. Well done, and thank you for leaving the trace clear for the 'mushroom.

All the many times at the lookout and stood within metres unknowing.

Out on the way to Windsor with pjmpjm we decided to stop and check out if the original Trig Plug was still there.
It is there just on the other side of the fence, it needed a fair bit of cleaning before it became visible so you may have to clean the debris before you can see it.
