Description

Lambie Old TS?

Official name of this Trig Station as per NSW Department of Lands is: Lambie Old.

Serial number is: TS not allocated.

Last Inspected on: September 1974.

Elevation is: 1290 metres.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig poin. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

The original collection of trig points has been sourced from Geoscience Australia and may contain inaccuracies.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.

Done Lambie trig in the past back in 2014 so today returned to complete the old 1. From the highway there was still some patches of snow & ice in the shade & a small section of the dirt road it was full on ice for about 100 metres – so 1st time driven in the snow – ice. Went through gate to the top of the mountain & parked near trig. Wow couldn’t get any closer – nearly drove over it. Wow what a view from up here – many thanks again Clan Griffin

Finally came back to this one as the sun was setting. It has been on my radar for such a long time since I got the main trig. At that time, I had no idea about "old" trigs.

A trains and trigs and return from Tarana run with rogerw3 ...

Lambie Old and Lambie have been on the 'mushroom agenda for an age - a previous visit halted before the gate. An oft passed, with regret, side road there was no hesitation for a revisit, though the road was heavily rutted after recent rains.

With the error of my ways - the gate is chained, not locked - pointed out by rogerw3, it then made for the walk up the good track towards the towers and the trig tucked back towards the treeline. In good condition in a clearly marked surround Lambie Old is within metres of Lambie, though oddly, not within the rockpile. Great views in all directions and would have been impressive without the comms towers aclutter. Smile
