Description

Bankstown EDM Testline - PM58057

The Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2012 requires surveyors to verify their Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM) equipment in relation to the State Primary Standard of measurement, in the form of pillared testlines or baselines, at least once each year and immediately after service and repair.

The Bankstown EDM Testline is a set of four trig points: PM58055-PM58058. The distance between the first and last one is 605.010 meters +/- 0.5 mm.

This information was obtained from http://www.lpi.nsw.gov.au/surveying/surveying_services/edm_baseline_certificates.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and/or yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Was this way today so taking the short detour to complete these 4 off trigs in a nice park – parked in carpark & did the walk from the end of oval back to carpark & around road education centre onto this tris which is a little hidden – many thanks Clan Griffin

Out on a caching run today around the Bankstown Area and decided to focus on trig points. This was the third of seven trig finds this morning for the journey or destination game.

Decided to target this nice cluster of trigs on the Bankstown testline. I parked in Buist St and was pleasently surprised at the nice park that greeted me. Walking past the CARES road education centre and heading up to this trig I noticed a huge area of this park was fenced off for remeadiation. Undetered I continued on to try and locate the trig. Lucky for me the trig was not very far behind the fence and even luckier still, the fence was open at this point so feeling a little naughty I snuck in to make the find. Again another trig with a facelift. Snapped the required photos now on to the last one...

Thanks for the cache Geocaching Australia

Hoping this find will move me one step closer to the destination, be that either the blue tile or my goal of 100 trigs!

#GA1325 - 18:25; Day 3 of a caching mission in and around Sydney with Sol de lune. We had landed in Bankstown and our second testline for the day. This one was a bit shorter than the earlier one in Blacktown, but we adopted a similar approach, parked at one end and wandered along. TFTC Geocaching Australia Very HappyClan Cerberus

Found this by accident while trying to find the nearby evil cache. Completely surrounded by bush. Looks like a giant nano on top of a pillar.

Next one along the Bankstown test line starting at PM58058 at the Hume Hwy end.

When I saw this set of markers pop up I thought "could there be such a thing so easily accessible" and today was my day to find out. Parked and walked through the empty park and once I started to get a little closer, it was plainly obvious where these markers were located. At least that part was easy for the day. When I approached this one I noticed that there was a bag at the base and some equipment attached to the top. Noice, finding a maker and it was actually being used. Snapped and then moved on to the next.

Found while in the area of Bass Hill a nice walk along the test line & there was a game of soccer at the park. Thanks for the trig
