Description

A Trig Point is a virtual cache which requires a cacher to locate the Trigonometric Station at GZ.

A trig point (also known as a Trigonometric Station) typically consists of a black disc on top of four metal legs or concrete pillar, resembling a navigation beacon. It is also accompanied by a metal disc, which is located directly below the center point of the tripod or on top of the pillar itself.

Trig points are generally located at the top of hills or points of prominence in the landscape. Many provide unique views and challenges, with some being difficult to get to.

These points were regarded as valuable to surveyors, providing reference points for measuring distance and direction, and assisting in the creation of maps.

To log a find on the Geocaching Australia website, you will need to include a picture of the trig point, along with your GPS receiver and (preferably) yourself. Long distance / telephoto type pictures are against the spirit of this cache. You are encouraged to leave a description of your journey in your log to help others in finding the trig point.

Please respect local laws and regulations when searching for trig points. If you believe that a trig point is located on private property or in a dangerous location, you may archive the cache, by clicking on Log this Cache and place an "Archived" log on the Geocaching Australia website.
If you feel that you can add to the description of this trig point or adjust the difficulty / terrain ratings, please feel free to edit this cache and amend the information suitably. Vandalism of the cache description or other information will result in your account being terminated.

After climbing the Milkshakes Trig headed out along the Holder Road to see how far I might get.
All was well until coming to a washed out bridge diversion which required a bit of trimming to get the vehicle through...a nice solid creek bottom though.
Not much further came to a 2nd washed out bridge diversion with a bit softer bottom...after trimming soon had the Geofourby across.
The road was quite overgrown in places requiring quite a bit of trimming, but once on the ridgeline became more open.
Drove within 50m of the trig which had seen better days having been snapped off at the base...a rather sad ending.

Spent quite a deal of time locating and designing all this Road network near 50 yesterday ago.

I actually started work on Feb 1971 living at the Arthur River camp which was situated below the cache "Cricket Anyone".

So was great to revisit this trig and bring back distant memories.

Another trig off my bucket list...thoroughly enjoyed...cheers ST.

We found this on the Toolbox and Swampy 3 day West Coast trip.
At one point a bridge has been burnt/washed away so we took only one vehicle across and then found another missing bridge on the way to the trig.
Once parked, we followed a skidder track up along the ridge until we found the trig point. It was a little worse for wear and I advise surveyors not to use this trig for any measurements - we found it lying on the ground so stood it back up but not quite in the same place....
Joint *FTF* with Toolbox.
