Why did I choose Apty as a username?

Its simple really ...

a long time ago in a far far galaxy, I was born in New Zealand,
many years later I emigrated to Australia ... offered a job, land of milk and honey, wanted to try something new,
discovered Internet Relay Chat (IRC) and started chatting in #Shire where I befriended a lady who used Paniscus as her nick. Paniscus is the biological name of Chimpanzee. Pamela was interested in chimps following undertaking an university assignment.
I decided to adopt Apteryx as my nick = Kiwi = the bird native to NZ
I shortened it to Apty to save people trying to remember and/or type the full version.

I told you it was simple.

I Have A Confession
I'm not using a GPSr. I use a Nokia 6110 with Trimble's GeoCaching Navigator loaded. It works reasonably well. I'm not going to blame it for my DNFs.
