Up visiting a friend (non cacher) decided to take a hike. Needed a Sept. 2000 for a challenge. Nice area. I'll have to come back here with friends that cache. Thanks TEAM SNAKEBUSTERS for keeping this one alive. I'm giving this cache a fav. point.

I hemmed and hawed about logging this cache. We were with the We 2 team but actually weren't geocachers at the time. We became geocachers at the end of December 2003. We 2 introduced us to geocaching so I just figured it wouldn't hurt to log this cache. Plus it would give me another country.

Didn't find any TB's in cache. Wish I had one to place but unfortunitely I didn't. Took awhile to find. Still in good shape and a great hiding place for the area. Signed geotucson. TFTC
This was our last one of the day before we headed home to Tucson, Az. We did 134 caches today and about 10 of them were in the dark. I'm not really good with night caches but I went along with tugies because she really wanted this one and we had some great flashlights. No TB's in cache but got to admit it turned out to be a great day. Made 2 milestones in about 27 hours (not straight). Thanks to everyone in Las Cruses and Demming for placing caches for us to do.

Got to Demming, N.M. and started to do a few caches with tugies. Signed as "geotucson". Don't normally cache in the dark but tonight we did for a little while before going to the motel. TFTC

Today we were on a quest to find the traveling Vietnam Wall Experience on Park Ave. in Tucson, Az. Well I heard on the radio it was in town on Park Ave. but never really heard exactly where it was going to be. Drove down Park Ave. for about 5 miles and there it was. It was in a cemetary. We followed the signs and my goodness I couldn't believe my eyes. There is was plain as day. The wall was all set up an there were a few people looking at the names on the wall. There was one woman crying. There was also a soldier saying every name on that wall. It was very touching. I'm glad we had to oppertunity to view this wall. Took some pictures and picked a name. Now at the time I wasn't sure we needed to take a picture of the name and I didn't. Just picked a name. His name is Major Joseph Y. Echanis. I went on line and surprisingly I found a write up on this guy I picked.
Maj. Joseph Ygnacio Echanis
United States Air Force
Joseph Ygnacio Echanis was born October 6, 1937. Home city of record is Portland, Oregon. He was lost as Missing in Action November 5, 1969 in Laos, serving with the 497th Tactical Fighter Squadron
Capt. Douglas P. LeFevor was the pilot and Capt. Joseph Y. Echanis the navigator of an F4D aircraft from the 497th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On November 5, 1969, their mission was to act as Forward Air Controller for an operational mission over Laos. While directing a flight over the assigned area, radio contact was lost with the plane. At 4:34 a.m., one of the strike aircraft in the area saw a large ball of fire on the ground. Although no parachutes were observed, the Air Force concluded that the possibility exists that the crew ejected and safely reached the ground.
Throughout the day, an electronic search was conducted, with negative results. The terrain where the plane went down was so rugged that a visual search was not possible. No wreckage was ever found. The last known location was just southwest of Ban Som Peng in Khammouane Province, Laos.
Since the war's end in 1973, thousands of reports have been received by the U.S. Government regarding Americans still in captivity in Southwest Asia. Most of the reports involve Americans in Laos, where nearly 600 Americans went missing, and none released.
Both Echanis and LeFever were promoted to the rank of Major during the period they were maintained Missing in Action.
Thanks for the oppertunity to do this cache.

We were on our way to a cache this morning in Tucson, Az. and I couldn't believe my eyes. I actually saw this guy and girl carved out of a tree. It was definetly a work of art. Thanks for the cache.

Found this mermaid by mistake on late Sunday afternoon.
She is oin Tucson, Az. Thanks for the cache.

Saw this ship a few weeks back but never thought about where it was at. The following week I went to look for it and just couldn't remember where it was. Found it again late Sunday night. This ship sits in Tucson, Az. It is for men. They call it Raider's Reef. Never went in. I was afraid I'd have to take off my clothes. That is all I know about this "Ship Out of Water." Thanks for the cache.

Been living in Tucson, Az. for 2 years now and the only roller coaster I've seen is off LaCanada Dr. The road is called this because it's got allot of dips in it. I took a picture but couldn't capture the dips.

Went here for a cache and talk about ancient. This one crumbled. There were a few remaining columns still standing. The Farmington Aqueduct was for the Northhampton Canal. This canal ran from Northhampton, Ma. to New Haven, Ct. from 1828 to 1848. It came down through Westfield and Southwick, Ma. It used north, middle and south Congamond ponds in Southwick, Ma. What's left to it sits in Farmington, Ma. I was alone and it was next to impossible to get myself in this picture.

I'm not from Australia or New Zealand either but I noticed some others that aren't from there either. I have the Worlds Largest Kokopelli.
Kokopelli has been a sacred figure to Native Americans of the Southwestern United States for thousands of years. Found painted and carved on rock walls and boulders throughout this region, Kokopelli is one of the most intriguing and widespread images to have survived from ancient Anasazi Indian mythology, and is a prominent figure in Hopi and Zuni legends. Kokopelli is also revered by current-day descendants including the Hopi, Taos and Acoma pueblo peoples.
He stands in Camp Verde, Az.

Don't live near the water and unless we get heavy rain our washes are dry. But I found this lighthouse hanging from a tree. It's really a bird feeder but it's the closest thing to a lighthouse I'm going to see in Arizona. This particular Lighthouse is in St. David, Az.

Was geo caching this morning and fell across this moose. I kept eyeballing it and the more I looked at it the more it looked like a moose. No I really don't expect to see a moose in the middle of a wash in Tucson, Az.
22-May-04
Went by this museum in Mesa, Az. and found the biggest propeller. It is from a B-29 Bomber. It is only one of four that was on Fifi.

Was visiting Auckland on a group tour. Rented a car for this cache and to see the area. Don't know why it took me this long to long this cache. It deserves a fav. point. Sorry it got muggled.
