On another awesome adventure with Brewce. This trip had it all: webcams, virtuals, high favorite pointed caches, Oldest geocaches (3 oldest states and 1 oldest in a providence), border patrol, laughter, awesome music, sites, geocaches, and a great friend!!

We left Wisconsin Friday at 6 pm and headed East to grab 4 oldies, high favorite point caches, virtual caches, webcams, and anything else which crossed our path.

This cache was a repeat for me as I found it back in 2017, but given then there was a snow storm I gladly returned with Brewce today to see the landscape....and water, lots of water! We walked the trail and I attempted in taking the route that I took in Jan, 2017. Well when the water got up my knee high boots I retreated. [:O)] Walked a little further and found the "real" trail. Fun times!

TFTC and for keeping it going!

On another awesome adventure with Brewce. This trip had it all: webcams, virtuals, high favorite pointed caches, Oldest geocaches (3 oldest states and 1 oldest in a providence), border patrol, laughter, awesome music, sites (like Horeshoe Falls in Niagra Falls), geocaches, and a great friend!!

So what does one do when you want to go out East but only have the weekend? Answer: get in the car and drive thru the night!

We left Wisconsin Friday at 6 pm and headed East to grab 4 oldies, high favorite point caches, virtual caches, webcams, and anything else which crossed our path, and we were home by 9:30 pm Sunday nearly 1,800 miles later. What an adventure!

Fun times! This area was one of the main targets of the trip: The Spot! I have had my eye on this cache for many reasons and it lived up to my thoughts of it! Smile

As we were walking down towards ground zero we passed some hikers about .3 from the cache as they hiked up. We had a small chat and then were on our way. As we found the cache here they came back down. We chatted some more, they were kind enough to take our photo, and we found out that one of the ladies mothers lives in my town in Wisconsin! Talk about a small world!!

Finding this makes me only 3 geocaches away from a 4x Jasmer!! [^]

TFTC. ' Of course - Favorite point!

Revisiting with Brewce so he could get the oldest -- woohoo!!

Fourth full day of my "EPIC Adventure 2018" trip with Brewce. Today was going to be a laid back kind of day, more than the others. Our goal was to grab two of the oldest caches in the country for Brewce (I already had them from GW16). Every day of our trip had highlights and "wow" moments and today was no different!

We headed out from Milwaukee to the great West, on the agenda were: 8 - Y2K caches, completing my 3x Jasmer and setting me up nicely for 4x Jasmer, virtual geocaches, webcams, challenge caches, caches helping complete already signed challenges, high favorite pointed caches, and, most importantly, fun and laughter along with anything else we wanted to stop and do! We achieved all those things and more, so much more. Smile We saw things we never knew about or never thought we would see - amazing! Our timing for the entire trip could not have been planned any better. Driving by car is the best way to see America, it allows for impromptu stops and deviations, which we did...many times....and on this trip we drove a total of 4,500 miles and all I can keep saying is "wow, just wow!!" of all we saw. One of my best adventures ever thanks to geocaching, thanks for being part of it!

[:O)] Smile [^]
THANKS for the smiley

FAVORITE POINT!!

Second full day of my "EPIC Adventure 2018" trip with Brewce. Today was a big day....3-Y2K caches, one of which I need to complete my Jasmer for the third time. SO excited!! Also on the agenda was a Y2001 cache which Brewce needed AND anything that crossed our path.

One of my best adventures ever thanks to geocaching, thanks for being part of it!

This cache was one of the main reasons for the trip out West -- How awesome it is to find an August, 2000 hide and this was my third and last unfound August 2000 cache in the United States, I'll have to go to Sweden now to solidify my quad jasmer! [^]

Quality hikes -- hikes/challenges like this one provided is the reason why I LOVE geocaching! We parked at campsite 19 and headed in grabbing the traditional and letterbox on the way in. We scared up a dear as we hiked up the hillside, and something scared me up on the way down. Still not sure what it was but it was not harmful at all. We did have to look around a bit and expand our search to make the find but we knew it was there so we confidently spread out until I found the cache. How awesome!!! Took lots of pictures and then headed out. We had a perfect day for this cache and, surprisingly, no bug spray was needed! We celebrated at the car with a Traditional Lager beer from the oldest brewery in the country, Yuengling.

Thanks for keeping this oldie going. Big Grin #Lifeisgood

Making memories of a lifetime, an epic trip squeezed into a short amount of time!

I headed out of Milwaukee, WI with my muggle friend by car on Friday at 5 pm and returned 10 pm Sunday. Targeting 3x & 4x Jasmer fillers, high favorite points, and bucket list items and it was an amazing trip!

We arrived in Fairfax, VA at 9 am on Saturday as we drove through the night and enjoyed a nice 1.5 mile walk at GC2D5, Scott's Run Revised, and then we grabbed GC172 Backyard Stash (Jan, 2001), GC175 Burke Lake (Dec, 2000) a bunch of virtual geocaches (running into Gaiter Man at one), and attended a Farmer's Market in Reston where I bought some soy candles. We picked off targeted caches and then it was off to Pottsville, PA.

We arrived in Pottsville, PA by 2:30 pm to experience the last tour of the day at America's Oldest Brewery, Yuengling! What a fabulous tour and experience, and what an impressive history/story. It was my muggle friend's birthday so she got a free pint and a poster signed by the owner, besides the other free beer everyone enjoyed! We then grabbed the multi which was all about the brewery, grabbed a delicious supper in town, and then off we went to walk on the Appalachian Trail! OMG -- incredible, and the section we walked had much more aggressive inclines than the many segments of the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin that I've hiked. From there it was off to experience Hershey's Chocolate World at Hershey Park. We ended the night just West of Harrisburg.

Sunday morning it was a hearty and delicious breakfast at Metro Diner before heading home...what just happened to be in our route? The Nittany Lion Shrine at Penn State!
We had a relaxing drive home avoiding the turnpikes and the tollroads and enjoyed a delicious meal just as we arrived into Wisconsin before driving the final hour or so home.
An amazing trip with my good friend....THANK YOU for being part of it!

THIS was the main reason for the trip....well along with Yuengling in Pottsville, PA! Wink I needed this one for my 3x Jasmer which I will be completing soon. We arrived, the person at the entrance was friendly and had a great smile, and seemed happy to hear we were there for THIS cache! [:O)] We arrived quickly to ground zero from parking and then found the cache. Muggle Gwen was like, "darn you are good! how did you find it so quick?!" Snapped photos and then back to the car we decided to go take in the lake a bit. TFTC, keeping this oldie going, and for bringing us here. Favorite point!

What a whirlwind 28 hours! Knowing I had to be in Ottawa, KS for a meeting which ended about noon on Saturday, I planned on making the most of the trip this time and decided to do the oldest caches "nearby". Nearby meaning Oklahoma and Arkansas [:O)]

I teamed up with rikjaxon to make this crazy 28 hour trek...Ottawa, KS ~ Tulsa, OK ~Mountain Home, AR ~ and, finally, Kansas City, MO to make our flights....nearly 14 hours of drive time alone Via Mapquest, and that didn't include stops and detours. Do we ever do those?! OF COURSE! [^] Big Grin especially when it entails 3 corners and being able to sit in 3 states at one time! The laughs, the great music, the show tune (I sang the entire song "Oklahoma" which brought back childhood memories for both of us)... and the BBQ (BBQ Catfish just outside KC)..."Yeeow! A-yip-i-o-ee ay!" Big Grin [:O)] [^]

After grabbing Pride of Mountain home, rikjaxon and I headed over to make the find. It was VERY quiet in his new surroundings on a Sunday Morning. We tried to discover what the slogan was for each state we were in. In the wee hours of the morning crossing into Arkansas we missed it so glad the Gorilla could fill us in on what Arkansas' slogan was....glad we weren't required to find it in that state! [:O)] Yay -- another oldie found, that much closer my triple Jasmer Big Grin and rikjaxon's first.

After we made the find we headed over to the Starbucks in the grocery store for an Americana coffee and grabbed a plain doughnut (mmmm) from the grocery store bakery. What a pleasant town and people. Thanks to the caches we found, we had lots of laughter and story telling going on thanks to flashback to our childhood.

TFTC and series!

In Arizona for a vacation visiting family, attending the Yuma Mega event, and participating in a board meeting and decided to come this way for a hike in the desert and an oldie. I was nearby last year solo and grabbed a Y2K cache to complete may Jasmer. Since then I got my Jasmer 2x and now working on my 3x Jasmer. Smile
Today I met up with some new friends to find this cache and others in the area. I threw a hook out and BayouMiss, DaveLapage (formerly Oregon3) and Tonya209 snagged it. [:O)]

We met up at 830 and we piled into one car and off we went into Bulldog Canyon. I fortunately got the permit and gate code so that saved us some steps, but as we grabbed 10 caches in the area we still got our steps in. [^]

I had looked at previous photos so new what to look for, however, it was displayed a bit different when we arrived.

TFTC and for keeping this oldie going! Favorite point and of course the obligatory photo. [:O)]

What is better than finishing up my Jasmer Feb, 2017? Answer: Finishing a DOUBLE Jasmer in the same year, and this trip did it!! Big Grin A last minute decision put me on a road trip adventure with CNA'Stein and Brewce to grab Y2K caches to attempt to complete my Jasmer for the second time this year.

We headed out of Milwaukee, WI on Thursday night and returned Saturday night -- 2,200 miles, 42 hours of car drive time and with that we achieved our goals and then some. We were in 12 states, completed some GREAT virutals, Earthcaches in nearly every state we visited, 3 webcams, a few letterboxes, several multis, a Whereigo, 7 - Y2k caches and 1 - 2/2001 cache which included the oldest MULTI and Mystery in the world! CNA'Stein kept saying, "I labeled this appropriately my "Epic Adventure" and it is truly that!" Brewce got 9 new states and CNA'Stein addded 6 new states, and my focus was grabbing EC in the states I didn't have one to help with some challenges I am working on. [^]

Originally when I was throwing this trip together I didn't think we were going to be able to get this one. Then i started to reach out to a few people for insight as to where they rented a boat/jet ski from, Captain Steve's number (so many people referenced him and for GREAT reason) and one friend offered their blow-up boat for us to take here so we could grab the cache. I was actually considering it, but after talking to Captain Steve I decided that given the weather and expected wind, something a bit more solid than a blow-up boat would be better and would give us better peace of mind. So we planned on meeting Captain Steve for the ride, and his flexibility was much appreciated as traffic slowed us down just a bit from our expected ETA. What a great guy and very supportive of our hobby!

We met Captain Steve at the boat ramp, boarded the water craft, and off we went to the Island. We arrived, perhaps a bit chilled due to the temps but still warmer than we would have been had we been paddling across the lake, and off we went to find the cache. We found the cache quickly and of course took lots of photos. Hey -- we got marooned!! Such a great memory.

We quickly returned to the boat with a smiling Captain Steve waiting for us, and off we went back to our vehicle. Now off to get the oldest in GA before heading to Modoc Stash and Octopus Garden!

Fast forward to the end of the trip: Brewce completed his Jasmer loop at Octopus Garden at Midnight in North Carolina and I completed my second loop of the Jasmer in Terre Haute, IN at Fowler Park Wilderness cache.

TFTC and for keeping this oldie going! This one earns a favorite point for many reasons. THANKS!!

Found this on a wonderful and delightful vacation traveling our great country. [^] When all was said and done I drove 4,200, met a bunch of new friends, and got to see some great historical locations. This vacation wasn't about geocaching and the numbers, but geocaching was an avenue to find interesting spots and locations. Smile This was a great cemetery stuck up on the hill. I enjoyed driving thru and looking at all the various monuments. TFTC

This bridge is located in Chicago, Il just behind the Museum of Science and Industry. I highly recommend you to come to the area as there is so much to do here!

I was in the midst of finding another cache when I looked and saw this bridge. Snapped a few pictures and I was off to the next. The view of this bridge is from a very beautiful park.

If you have a chance to come please do. Don't forget to pull caches in the area and cache while you are here.
Big Grin
