Logs for Crazy Kea
30-Oct-24
Hi All, unfortunately the cache was cleaned out when the tree was removed. I will update here once the cache is reinstated. Thank you for your patience. CK.
25-Nov-23
To all the wonderful Cacher's out there, a BIG Thank You for visiting this area. It was one of my favourite places to visit when I lived in Petone but since I have moved away, maintenance has been an issue. Therefore is is with great sadness that I finally bring this cache to a close. I hope that one of you wonderful people out there will find a reason to visit this area and maybe plant a new Cache, I will be keeping an eye out!!

Cool hide, left as found. I am sure we had muggle stalkers but the Crazy Kea stealthily sneaked in! TFTC
01-Aug-23
Cute little find and a refreshing stop, if you are on your horse!! TFTC
Cute cache but quite wet. Very cloudy today so no mountain views TFTC
28-May-23
Had a good nosy here this morning but couldn't find anything. Maybe my hands are too big?
20-Jan-23
Hi, I found it but unfortunately it does need repair/ replacing. Couldn't sign log as pen broken and I didn't have one. Thank you for putting a cache here CK
11-Jan-23
Didn't have a pen so I took o photo of the log. Very excellent cache!
07-Jan-23
Found it!!! Had to fake dropping stuff just to avoid the muggles!!!
29-Dec-22
Checked the cache this morning and found a large tree has come down in the park making access a little more difficult. The cache itself is clean and tidy. Thank you to who ever cleaned it. I might have to put a ballpoint pen in it as the felt tip is a bit messy and ruins the back side of the paper so it cannot be written on.
25-Sep-22
Great little spot and great cache. As I helped plat it, I did not claim FTF but will log it now so I can have another Smiley face on my map!
17-Sep-22
Out with Kiwi Wild Tui and we snaffled this one. Very cool cache
09-Aug-22
I was a bit cautious looking around here as I was on my own and didn't want to look too suspicious!!! Unfortunately it wasn't too obvious a find for me and I didn't want to draw unwanted attention so I left it unfound. Pretty cool old place though and would be worth a visit when it's open.
No skiing today so a bit of Caching in order. I fear the old truck may never run again but the history of the region is always worth investigation.
Thank you to the Cache owners for their work in making the history of the region known. I have been to Ohakune many times and know a bit of our rail history but never knew of this little piece of local drama. TFTC and bringing me here.
I drove the whole dirt road, because I could. Great cache, follow your GPS, all the clues in the text, don't be misled!! Things may appear higher than they are
Not something you would have wanted to trap a body part in, it would have ripped you apart! At least today it is safe to scrabble around and secure the cache, TFTC
08-Aug-22
A lovely cache that I have been meaning to pick up for sometime now. TFTC

09-Aug-21
The snow flurries today like they are driven to cover the world white. Yes it was very cold too! Not bringing gloves a minor irritation as they would have come off to open the ziplok bag and write in the log. A lovely walk on a fine day but I had to take advantage of the opportunity today. TFTC
15-Apr-21
Great views all round here and overnight had a light dusting of snow on the upper mountain. TFTC
04-Jan-21
Found! First of the year cache a little damp and is in a black polythene bag when I found it. TFTC
12-Nov-20
Rode out on my bike this evening to ensnare this one. Unfortunately I came off my bike on the way home and smashed up my GPS not very happy. TFTC anyway!
02-Aug-20
Found today with Kiwi Wild Tui. Was slightly distracted and picked wrong location but soon had it under control! ! TFTC

24-Oct-18
Was up here working on the little local Telephone Exchange and had a wee wander along the road to find this one. The weather was mint, hot and sunny, the contrast was all the manuka trees in white flowers, it looked like a light dusting of snow! TFTC
31-Jan-18
Amazingly cute little cache, I love the camo, it really works great. TFTC
29-Jan-18
Well this one was very trick, especially as my phone threw me at least 8 metres from the cache and it took quite a while to locate. Forgot my pen so I didn't sign the log but I did see the 2 trackables placed by the cache owner. TFTC
Found this one today, again trouble with the phone throwing me out but eventually tracked it down and Slid it out but again, no pen but I carefully Slid it back into it's hiding space. One out of 2 exits, I found under the West one. Hopefully enough info for cache owner to accept the find.
I found this neat little cache today, my phone threw the co ords off a little bit as it was slightly further along than I thought. TFTC
Also no Log book so I couldn't sign it but a nice systema box with green tape and hand written marker pen saying Official Geocache on the lid. I hope thats enough proof I found it.

A BIG Thank You to brucewwnz for taking over the maintenance of this cache. It really is a beautiful place to visit and I am glad the cache will continue here.
07-Feb-17
The difficulty and terrain stars were low so we didn't think it would be on the cliff. Could not find it either way. Will have to give it another go when I wasn't pressured for time.
Found this cache carefully stashed under a cabbage tree, I guess the punga had been hit by a transmogrification ray!!! TFTC
Found this with the help of a passing Kiwi Wildtui, great little hided. the cache is in good condition with a travel bug in it so if someone is heading off to a cool new destination... TFTC
Searched all the likely spots but no luck and couldn't get the picture to download to my phone. I see there are a few people who couldn't find this, could the cache owner please check it ta : )
06-Feb-17
Third time not the charm for me on this one. Got bitten nearly to death so I am off to the hospital for a blood transfusion as the little suckers took so much blood!!!
Happy for the cache owner to email me a bigger hint!!! lol!

I was over for work so I thought I'd try and get at least one sneaky cache in. Work boots are good for protecting tender feet from the sharp rocks!! TFTC
22-Oct-16
Found this with Kiwi Wildtui. reasonably easy find but log soaking wet. KWT took a photo. TFTC. We would have replaced log but were a little short on log supplies sorry.
Was with KWT and Killer Kiwi but no luck here. Lot's of muggles so it made things a little difficult. It may have been muggled.
Again it was muggle central but no one noticing the cute Kiwi, Tui and Kea playing in the bush TFTC
Found this while on a nice long weekend off with Kiwi Wildtui (KWT) and a new cacher called Killer Kiwi TFTC
Lots of Muggles here today but they didn't seem to notice the cute native birds as they swooped in for a cheeky cache TFTC
Found with Kiwi WildTui and Killer Kiwi. just 3 great kiwis out enjoying the day and getting a little caching in on the side!! TFTC
16-Oct-16
Sadly this was our first DNF of the day and, alas, not our last!!! The Tui and the Kea looked high and low
Very cool cache and a great little find... I think KW was still reading the notes!!! TFTC
We were definitely on the winning streak now as we pushed forward in persuit of the Wildercaches!!! this one was a wee bit exposed, cheekily poking it's bottom out so we added a little more camouflage. TFTC
Spotted this one after noticing something not quite right with the tree hehehe. A good quick find for the Kiwi bird clan TFTC
