This was my cache target today....after the event. Seems it's this cache's birthday today! Very cool. Enjoyed the hike in this park that I've never hiked in before. Tftc

This one just about killed me.

Heading back to Miami for an early morning flight the next day....I thought I'd give this one a shot. Talked to a ranger and he told me a way that I could go to probably avoid the water. He was right!

I thought I'd wear pants and a hoodie as protection from the killer insects. That actually worked! I got not a single bite! But.....I was way too bundled up for the heat and humidity and I think I got heat stroke! I was actually hallucinating....and felt like I was close to passing out. My two bottles of water we gone too. A tough experience.....and one I won't soon forget.

I did find the cache though....and didn't get eaten by a bear or gator or snake. So all in all I consider it a success.

Sounds like I'll be going Wednesday. Anyone else interested?

Anyone interested in doing this cache between Sunday and Wednesday? Would be more fun with a group. Message me if you are interested.

Just noticed this oldie! I'm in the area on business but fly out tomorrow afternoon. Anyone with a boat want to do this one tomorrow morning 2/16/2018?

17-Nov-16
Geocacher TasDevil13 told me about this awesome geocache.....else I would have driven right past it! Smile Got there just as it was getting dark. Figured out a good parking spot and made the short stroll to GZ where it was a quick find. Happy to get an oldie and clearly a goodie!! Didn't see any hunters!!! Course it was mostly dark so we could have walked right past them! Smile Thanks for keeping this one going! A favorite for sure. We picked up a LOT of TBs to move along!

A difficulty to? Really? I spent probably an hour here and it was a pretty cold hour to. This one is a real needle in a haystack. But I was determined to find it. I even emailed the previous finder to see if I can get an additional hand but I didn't hear back in time. Fortunately I was able to finally find it before I burned the entire Forest to the ground. I was sad that there weren't any travel bugs in the Geocache but I took care of that by adding several more. Thank you for the Geocache, I think! Glad to get another oldie-but-goodie. I really had to earn this one.

Found this oldie with Team 43 (starpop, seek2findme, and myself). Always try to find these oldest state caches. It wasn't looking good for us being able to get to this one this trip.......but my daughter had a GREAT gymnastics meet and she felt like hanging out with her teammates and so that freed me up to play!! So we jammed up to the mountains to find this fine old cache!!

Loved the hike through the desert. Although I think it's a bit funny that you can TRY to avoid the pricklies in the desert but they seem to be able to jump out and get you anyway!! Fun hike....and not as bad as I was expecting after reading some of the earlier logs. A beautiful day for a desert hike for sure!

Gets a favorite from me!

I found Mingo!!!

I'd heard other cachers talking about Mingo for as long as I can remember. I'd always wanted to get to Mingo but the opportunity never really presented itself. But today.....I found myself only a couple hundred miles away so of course I had to head this way!!! Plus....I'd never found a cache in Kansas. So why not kill two birds with one stone? It had been a long day getting here. It started near Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs....then up Pikes Peak and a long headache-inducing hike up there....then the challenge cache road....then the trip here!! I was so happy to be here.....even if I still felt sick from Pikes Peak! Smile

It was dark when I was here which was a bummer but.....you have to take your opportunities when they are presented. It was quiet when I was here....and the stars amazing!!!

Thanks for keeping this oldie alive. I certainly enjoyed my trip getting here. A favorite for sure.

Now to start the trip back towards Denver where I fly to Vegas the next day!

Krazygymnast competes today in the Level 9 Regional Gymnastics meet at the Disney Convention Center. I woke up early and tried to stay in bed so as to not wake her up. She wasn't sleeping anyway but....I didn't want to do anything to distract her! Smile So I did some geocaching!! I needed the distraction too!! I was very nervous for her. This was one of my finds! Signed most of the logs as T43 as that was our group name for this weekend. This one took me a bit to find. tftc #14772

Nice camo! tftc #14766

Sad to read about the COs passing. It's so cool that her best caches are being maintained. This is one of the neatest places I've been brought to for caching....so many thanks for keeping this one going! A favorite for sure! tftv #14765

KrazyGymnast had to rest before tomorrow's Regional Level 9 Gymnastics Meet at the Disney Convention center.....so that freed me up for some caching with fellow Team 43 members Starpop and Seek2findme! We signed the logs mostly as T43. We had a ball chasing down caches south of Disney. Many thanks for the caches that we found. tftc #14745

Out caching with Seek2FindMe today. No smiley for us today. Bummer. Got nice and dirty though! We'll be back!

Quick find.....and not too many muggle vehicles. Actually saw it when I drove by looking for a place to park. Neat to see the names of cachers in my local area on the log. Heading up to Oroville for the Level 6 State Gymnastics Championships where I have TWO girls competing!! This was a great way to start the trip and not too far out of our way. Finally have a September 2000 cache! Whoo hoo!

Those are some pretty big words in that cache description. Must have gotten them from Trail Reader! HA!

OK dang it.....even though we knew we could be STF again....we still headed UP the hill. Could really tell I'd played soccer yesterday as the legs were burning! I again swore I'm never coming back!

Was happy to see the clean log when we got here! Whoo hoo. Lots of people on the trails today. Was very warm here....but that would soon change as the fog was starting to roll in! TFTC #3579/#516

Why'd you stop here....when the trail keeps going? HA! Had this area to ourselves. The wildflowers are really on display now. Awesome weather too. Not much of a peak huh? Liked the cache camo! TFTC #3580/#517

Found it.......and I swear again that I'm never coming back! I put a bunch of caches all over the park....so that there's no room for anymore. That way I can be sure I'll never need to come back!

The fog had come in big time by the time BuckingFirds and I got here....as we descended the mountain. Visibility was under 200 feet! Nice and cool too. Couldn't see the next 'Peak' where I wanted to leave another cache. But if you can't see it you might not get to it right?! Drats! Sure took some effort to get to this one. You can have a lot of terrain changes in a quarter mile.....but when your name is on the cache you have to do it right?!

I can take a challenge! And I survive most of them too!

So no more caches up here ok?! HA! Been kind of a cache feeding frenzy up here the last couple weeks. Great park....but I'm never coming back! So there! HA!

TFTC #3581/#518

BuckingFirds and I looked for close to an hour for this one. Cool place....but no cache love for us today. Probably need a tetanus shot too. I worry that folks will destroy this place looking for the cache. Bummed to have to leave empty handed....especially after what it takes to get there. We'll return another day!

Oh the humanity! This is a shocking turn of events.....

Found as a beta tester.

You know, I've cached for over 2 years now....and I really cannot think of a cooler bench with a more spectacular view. It is surpassed by none. It takes some effort to get up here but the reward is 'priceless'! Perfect place for a cache too. Bring a lunch (or Snickers bar like I did) and stay awhile. You'll be glad you did!

Found as a beta tester.

What a strange rock formation this was. I knew right away it had to be the Maltese Falcon. Glad the cache owner agreed! I loved being up top....cuz this meant the hard part was done. The UPHILL hard part. The DOWNHILL part was still to come. But up top here....was just awesome! TFTC

Found as part of the beta crew. This trail is tough but well worth it in the end! Certainly a shocker of a trail! HA!

Had a great day up here with the cache owner's sister (Evil Cow Pie) and Darkzen. Boy it takes a lot to get up here! We really enjoyed the trails to this cache....once we got 'up top'. Windy day today....but that didn't stop us form enjoying ourselves. Had lunch near GZ. Just a spectacular day. I had to leave the area as ECP went down to take a bath. HA! Great spot for a cache. TFTC #3566

An iron chef cache? Way cool! Takes quite a bit of effort to get up here and beyond....but once you get through the tough part it is an awesome place for a hike! Views were great today....but it was a bit windy. Had a great day up here with Evil Cow Pie and Darkzen! TFTC #3565

Out with Evil Cow Pie and Darkzen. We were with Evil Cow Pie as she found the cache .2 of a mile away. Should we go for this one? Sure...how bad can .2 of a mile be? Well....we now know. It can be baaaaaad! GPSr readings in the trees can be problematic. We were instructed to head UP the hill. OK....I like bushwhacking.....more than most probably but this was not what I had in mind. I headed up the place in Villageboar's pictures. Pretty slow going. And there was PO EVERYWHERE!!! I know I'm in trouble....as will also be the case for Darkzen. I'm hoping the Technu will help a little bit.

In the end we ended up ABOVE the cache....and could see it. Awesome! But again we had to cruise through more PO. Sheesh....you carted that thing all the way up there? Gotta respect that effort! We signed the log like the two fairies before us....and headed back via a different route......along the river. Not an easy task because of the volume of water that was heading downstream. We had almost made it down to the trail when I hopped onto a rock that was...well.....not solidly in place. In the river I went! OK....I'm used to ending up in the various rivers around the state. But this would be different. When I finally stood up I noticed that one of my shoes was gone! I searched and searched and could NOT find it. Darkzen came back to help with the search and he finally saw a little teeny bit of the shoelace. The rest of the shoe was down in this really yucky mucky mud! I was lucky to ge the shoe back. It wouldn't have been fun to have to hike back to the car with just one shoe!

What an adventure this cache was. And the day too. 8.06 miles with 3158 feet of elevation gain......and a pretty good sunburn too! No ticks on me so far. But I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that I/we don't get PO too bad. Wish me luck!

TFTC (I think!). #3568

Found it after a couple minutes...and wouldn't you know that there were a couple muggles hanging out right there! They moved out after a minute or so and then I was able to move in for the find. This is a really cool area. Does that trail go far past this cache? Beautiful day in the park. Was out with Evil Cow Pie and Darkzen. It was back to the car after this cache. TFTC #3569

Moved the cache a bit so that it no longer sits in water. Dried it all out and got rid of some rusted items. Cache is good to go! Will update the hint. Please hide carefully so it doesn't get muggled.

Found it....but we needed to phone a friend (Trail Reader) to be sure everything was still there. We found the snippet right away....and assumed that the cache was missing. Fortunately Trail Reader got us going again. Log was very damp....as water can get inside. Might wanna glue the top to help keep it dry. As soon as we signed the log.....the rains began. Almost immediately after a very close and LOUD thunder episode. The boys thought it was a fighter jet. I let them believe that so they'd carry the metal hiking stick the rest of the way home! HA! Wasn't sure how to get back down the hill from here....so BWed down to another trail.....where we met some bored cows. Lets just saw they weren't bored once we arrived! HA!

Had a great time in Toro. We didn't get the FTF....but we had more fun playing in the water after this cache....as we started puddle jumping, mud flinging, river walking, etc. I'll post some pictures if they come out.

TFTC #3515

Cache has been replaced. Hopefully this will last another couple years!

We found this but it was raining so badly that we didn't want to open it. We found it and will return to sign the log. KrazyMonky and FlyBoyz were with me. I'll post a picture of us if my camera still works. TFTC. Was fun to be in Toro again! #3516

Bushwhacked here from my Barren Hill cache where I did some cache maintenance. Talk about steep terrain! We came across a new trail that was being built. Cool! A new place to hide some caches! TFTC #3514

Cleaned the cache up and moved it about 20 feet to a location that will keep it drier. Hint was updated to reflect new location. Cache on everyone!

25-Feb-10
It'd been a long time since I'd been on this trail. And that one previous time was also chasing FTFs! HA! Sun was shining brightly....so I wished I'd had my sun glasses and camera! TFTC #3503/#493

I knew the way to Paraguay the last time I was here (at night doing the nearby night cache!) but the cache was dragged away from it's rightful place by some critter(s)? In any case, found it where we knew it had belonged before. Lovely day to be out and about....before the next storm hits! TFTC #3506

05-Feb-10
Been wanting to find this cache for awhile. Today was the day. I started towards the cache but then somehow took a detour through the PO. Didn't want to backtrack....so pressed on. Eventually righted myself and got to GZ. Great spot for a cache. TFTC #3478

Followed the GPSr to a fence that was around 100 feet from GZ but there is no hopping those fences! I drew the attention of a park ranger who asked if I needed help. Well yes......'how does one get over there?' I asked....and he said follow me. I jumped in my car and followed him to the access point. It was too late to get it today but I'll be back! Thanks Mr. Park Ranger! Pretty quiet in here today!

Last time I was here I was in a race car on the track.....spinning out! What a crazy day that was!

Dang. Failed again. I tried to stick to the T1.5 areas and that was how I messed up. I walked around all the other terrain areas but didn't come up with the prize. Drats. Wish I had a working PDA! I'll be back!

I didn't take the best route to this cache....and am crossing my fingers that I won't get PO....since I walked through so much of it! Yikes! Beautiful day to be caching. Grasses were still wet....so I soaked up as much of it as I could. I finally found a better way....which avoided the PO and water. A real maze in there! HA! TFTC #3476

07-Jan-10
I should have paid attention to the terrain rating. Roanq was having me be a cache monkey. I think she was just messing with me! HA! Eventually found it. The cache lid is broken and so the cache itself has water inside. The log was ok to sign. Thanks for a great cache. #3406

Very well done! Tried to get to this cache the first day....but my GPSr didn't know about the road (too new) and had me all over the place.....except near the cache. I really enjoyed this one. TFTC #3408

Tough terrain! Easier coming out than going in. Picked up a tick along the way....HOPEFULLY only one!! Awesome caching day today....most of it with Roanq. TFTC #3405

06-Jan-10
Was heading back to my car after the trek up to the cool new cache (Simas to Airplane trail) and thought...hey, there is another cache I haven't found.....just a third of a mile that way! So.....I had to go for it!

Yikes....more uphill for me....which my legs didn't want to do after the new cache hike. I somehow lost hte trail several times....and ended up BELOW this cache. I was 200 feet away from GZ....BELOW......so I had a big trek to do....straight UP the hill. Ouch. Finding the cache itself was straight forward.....once I caught my breath. Nice sized cache. Wished I'd had my camera here....as the views were awesome. Course...had more uphill to do. Wow....I didn't realize I'd be that far ABOVE the ranch area. So I got some great cardio in today. Thanks for the cache. Was a really great place for a cache. TFTC #3383

Was in the area so I called RoanQ to see what she was doing. Well, she was at this cache. She said she'd wait for me there....and that we could then cache together. Cool! Got to GZ to see her looking about....so I quickly joined in. I found it after a minute or two....then asked her if she'd want me to tell her if/when I found it. She said YES! So I pointed her in the right direction and she found it in no time! Nicely done cache!! Would be easy to miss! TFTC #3384
