Logs for K3rbla!
18-May-14
Technically found by me as an eventually straightforward find, but i would describe it more as a team effort. TFTC.
Found by Red_V, and then it was a hop, skip and a jump over the stormway and onto the next cache. TFTC
Out on another Gungahlin caching run with Mr and Mrs Red_V. Mrs Red_V and I both zeroed in on the same spot for this one. TFTC.
Mrs Red_V seemed quite charmed by the cache container (after scratching through some branches, unnecessarily as it turns out, to get to it). TFTC.
Searched high and low with Red_V but this one had us stumped, so we resigned ourselves to the DNF and moved on.
After stopping for a snack at Nicholls shops we continued our trek, and Red_V were onto this one quickly as soon as we hit GZ. TFTC.
Continuing our pleasant stroll through the afternoon sunshine to this one. Cool cache container, although when found by Mrs Red_V she was (apparently) initially a bit unnerved by it. TFTC.
A crafty find by Mr Red_V. A lesson in paying more attention to subtle clues, as well as persistence. TFTC.
Scratched our heads about this one, and had to DNF and settle for 11 caches for the afternoon (not a bad arvo's work).
Another quick find by Red_V. Some good views up here, and I didn't realise bits of Ngunnawal were still under construction 20 years after the suburb commenced its existence. Also last cache for the day as it would turn out. TFTC.
28-Mar-14
After much scrambling around had yielded nothing Mr Red_V came up with another choice find. TFTC.
Another one that wasn't at all where we expected it, and quickly spotted by Mrs Red_V.
On a personal note, cache number 150 for me. TFTC.
On a personal note, cache number 150 for me. TFTC.
Continuing along the caching trail, with a quick spot while learning a bit about the history of Gungahlin. TFTC.
A reasonably quick find, and despite the recent rains, still managed to traverse the drain. TFTC.
A quick completion of the Meandering Mirrabei cache series before heading further north... TFTC.
Heading out into the wilderness a little bit. Fore! certainly is prolific and widepsread with the cache-hiding, I'd be interested in how many caches I've come across in Canberra have been Fore! caches. TFTC.
More caching logs to catch up on... Out on Saturday 22 March for a Gungahlin caching run with Red_V.
Had just about given up on this one personally, before Mr Red_V nabbed it. TFTC.

As it turned out, the last cache for the day after hiking across some marshy ground, up the hill (startling some livestock on the other side of the fence seemingly), and then enjoying some panoramic views over Gungahlin. TFTC.
A quick find by Mrs Red_V as some Commodore-driving bogans decided to yell at us on the way past. TFTC.
After a lunch at the 'G', it was back out to continue the quest for ever more caches. As noted by Red_V, hard not to get muggled on this one but we managed somehow. TFTC.
21-Mar-14
One of the more innovative cache containers I've come across. Thankfully found quickly by Mrs Red_V as the weather closed in and brought our caching day to an end. TFTC
The cache run shifted to Kaleen, with Red_V realising they had come across this cache previously. TFTC.
Backtracked to pick this one up and met fellow geocachers Goldenwattle and Decrypter (as well as an out of position cache, as noted by Goldenwattle, Decrypter and Red_V). TFTC
Mr Red_V quickly found while I admired the views out to Mt Majura (another scenic point on Lyneham Ridge) and tried not to breathe in the scent of rotting animal. TFTC.
Thankfully not were I thought it was going to be, although as Red_V noted, the cache wasn't completely unsoiled. TFTC
Managed to scramble up and get the log for Red_V to sign on the ground while I hung around for them to hand it back up. My descent wasn't so straightforward and luckily my awkward landing didn't do any damage. Certainly not a kid anymore! [:-)] TFTC.
As noted by Red_V, there were a couple of bulls to navigate past (much to my surprise) on the way to this one. TFTC.
Quickly found by Red_V as I took in the view of Canberra (apparently now GIO) Stadium, and tried to spot the apartment in Bruce where a friend lives. Actually not a bad view, although the massive overhead power lines spoil it a bit. TFTC.
Another shift in the caching run to Bruce.
Even with the clue I was a bit sceptical, but Red_V persisted and got the find. TFTC.

I initially overlooked it but Mrs Red_V thought it was worth a second look and then I managed to retrieve it (I'm not sure Mrs Red_V would have put her hand in there anyway). TFTC.
After a bit of a hike up the hill, and after the first four caches on the run were found in typical rapid fashion by Mr & Mrs Red_V, I managed to find this one.
TFTC.

Catching up on my caching log...
Went for an afternoon of caching in Lyneham, Kaleen and Bruce with Red_V. Lyneham Ridge is yet another place I've never previously explored, despite being a life-long Canberran.
A quick find, while noting we would eventually return to get Lyneham Landscape on the way back to the car after completing the rest of the run. TFTC.

Out for a spot of caching yesterday with Red_V despite the weather. Found by Mrs Red_V after some initial scrabbling around. A nice secluded spot, and perfect for a muggle-free cache. TFTC.
Red_V (or more specifically Mrs Red_V) thought I should do this one for their amusement (they'd already previously had a friend do this). Although Mrs Red_V also didn't want to hang around too long for fear of 'getting murdered.' TFTC.
Another one previously done by Red_V that they thought they'd introduce me to.
Thankfully I don't have this phobia, and I didn't even realise what it was until I was standing in the middle of the rock formation! But it was still not pleasant to do, and the fact it was raining probably didn't help with this. Was swatting them off me all the way over to Yarralumla Nursery.
TFTC wing6rider.

After a trip by the Yarralumla Nursery so Red_V could pick up a host of plants for their garden, we wandered over to this one, with a quick find by Mr Red_V. On the way back to the car, we came across the largest pine cones we'd ever seen (felt like they weighed about 10 kilograms), and so we stopped to take a few photos of them, wondering how the tree they were under could ever have possibly supported the weight of such huge pinecones. TFTC.
08-Feb-14
A quick find by Nashy (and last of the day before getting out of the heat and going swimming later in the afternoon). The Arboretum is a great location for a cache. Thanks for the series Tankengine.
The view from here is possibly the best in Canberra. When found by Mr Red_V we had to provide some substantial shielding from the many muggles behind us. TFTC.
After brunch at the Arboretum with Red_V and Nashy and Megan, we went on a quick caching run before the day got really hot. Was still waiting for sunscreen to soak in so Red_V and Nashy went to work on the coords.
Eventually found by the ever eagle-eyed Mr Red_V. TFTC.
