This is a prime example of why NOT to put a NM on a cache just because you can't find it!!! (and how sadly DNFs breed DNFs). A cache doesn't "need maintenance" just because you checked behind the hint object and didn't see it.
The great big cache was there all along, safe and sound. It's in great condition and has survived for years because it's well hidden. In the summer the vegetation makes it tougher to find.
As I have archive notifications set locally I saw this one get archived and was surprised so clicked through to see what had happened. Given the time of year of the DNFs I was sure it would be there and last night, as we were passing, we pulled over to check. Sure enough, despite it being 6.5 years since we found it, we found it again within seconds of arrival, just where it should be.
As it still had Geocoins in when it was archived we are now very pleased we took the effort to check, as the TBs can now be moved on.
We have removed the cache and if the owner wants it back they are welcome to contact me.
The 2 TB owners will no doubt be pleased

Found today with BigLynx, Spire67 & James@Bunny )
Today was a crazy day in which we left the Midlands around 4am and drove 1000 miles, arriving home 24 hours later having found 2 caches in each of 6 countries: England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany & The Netherlands. Dock workers strikes, immigrants storming the Eurotunnel and Operation Stack on the M22 all caused us delays (both going out and coming back) as did having to divert for miles and miles down a very rough dirt track due to a cycle race somewhere in the Belgian countryside. We had some great laughs, Spire67 ripped his trousers, BigLynx "raced" a Ferrari and a Lamborghini, the lads pushed a broken down car off the Eurotunnel, we met some German cachers at GC40 and a Dutch CO at his cache. We melted in temperatures of up to 44 degrees according to our car (luckily we had air con) and saw some beautiful and stunning views, including about 15 hot air balloons of varying shapes and sizes as we drove back to Calais, just as the sun was setting. All said, it was a day to remember, what an adventure! )
This was really the main aim of the day. The initial idea was simply to make a trip to GC40... the idea of finding caches in 6 countries in a day came later ;o)
We've talked for a long time about visiting the oldest European mainland cache and finally we arranged this trip to do so. We parked close to the coordinates and soon crossed the road and entered the woodland. We knew that the GPS wasn't perfect so when we got close to the indicated GZ we spread out and wandered around looking for likely places. We'd checked lots of possibilities but not found it when we heard voices and were joined by two German cachers also looking for GC40. We continued our search and suddenly Spire67 yelled that he'd found it... we'd all walked straight past it and not seen it when we first arrived! We admired the ammo can and spent some time taking photos of the cache and ourselves, and noting down TB codes. I dropped off a TB and took another one to move on.
TFTC, an amazing old cache in a pretty area with such great coordinates, nice and easy to remember! We took a photo of James's phone when it got them to settle spot on.
Thankyou so much for keeping this old cache alive... have a favourite point for that! )

Found today with The_Dolans )
We'd taken advantage of a special offer on train tickets from Nottingham to London to do a day's caching. The rain had been pouring down all day, and by the time we got to this it was dark and the rain was so heavy that visibility was very low. We weren't letting that put us off though and spotting that this wasn't much of a diversion, we stepped into the very very dark park. The_Dolans paused under a tree (we were so drenched that I don't think it helped much) and dug out a torch which was a vast help. Even in the dark, it was obvious that the park is a little gem in a very built up area. We soon arrived at GZ and The_Dolans instantly picked out the hiding place in the torchlight. We chose not to move the TB that was in residence as we couldn't help with it's mission.
TFTC, I suspect it's rare to find a cache so large in the middle of London! )

Found today with JohnnyBGoode )
Having parked rather dubiously very close to the cache I initially stayed in the car while JohnnyBGoode searched. Eventually I realised this wasn't going to be a quick find so I went to join in the searching whilst keeping an eye out for anyone who looked like they might ticket the car! We searched every nook and cranny and couldn't find it but today's logs assured us it must be there. I'd taken a step back to reassess the situation when I suddenly spotted it... how sneaky! Gave us a chuckle ;o) TFTC!
