Logs for KaraPo88

21-Feb-20
The cache is gone, I'm not around to place another one.

It's been almost five years since I left NZ, and Yogie18 isn't around to maintain our cache either. It survived thanks to the finders who took good care of it, but now it's time I say goodbye to this souvenir cache Smile

15-Jun-14
Today is planting day! 175 volunteers including the Dairy Flat cubs, all planting native trees and bush in Shakespeare park with DOC volonteers Smile. We had to wait for half an hour so this cache was perfect for the little scouts! Tftc.

Mplc

I'm vititing this cache for the third time. Time with Donisa, as it's time to say goodbye to my friends. It's also time to release our TB: Nano-Kiwi! He's been our companion this year and now he must find his way to France with the help of other geocachers.

08-Jun-14
After a picnic in the park, we had a go at the rope and the slide (it's never too late for being a kid), then went for the cache. Very nice place that is. The ducks seem to enjoy it as well Smile. Thanks for the cache, it made us explore the park further.

Oh wow I completely forgot to log those caches!
We went here with Donisa and the kids. It was their first time geocaching and they absolutely loved it ^^. That one was found by Donisa. Nice little path, well hidden Smile . TFTC.

Cutty indeed! Cheers for the cache.

We had a hard time finding the way to this cache to be honnest. It's appears some other tresures hunters tried to go through the flax bushes, and it's damaging it a little. So I hope you don't mind if I suggest adding a waypoint? The little side track starts here:
S 36°49.976
E 174°25.643
Lovely place, cheers for the cache.

Nice sunny morning at Muriwai beach with Donisa. It was a very interesting little walk, and we enjoyed solving this earthcache. TFTC.

We went for a walk at Muriwai beach, enjoying a beautiful sunny day. This was our first stop and cache of the day, found by Donisa. Nice view! TFTC.

Solved about 2-3 months ago, we found it today with Donisa after a beautiful sunny walk at Muriwai beach. Today is the day... I'm going to finish logging that smiley face!! And that the last one on my list, finally! I had such a hard time solving that one, and my mistake was really dumb ^^. Thanks for the cache.

Solved about 2-3 months ago, we found it today with Donisa after a beautiful sunny walk at Muriwai beach. Today is the day... I'm going to finish logging that smiley face!! Nearly there;... Thanks for the cache.

Solved about 2-3 months ago, we found it today with Donisa after a beautiful sunny walk at Muriwai beach. Today is the day... I'm going to finish logging that smiley face!! I liked the Wonkey Donkey song Smile Thanks for the cache, thanks for replacing it and well done with the maintenance.

We enjoyed this sunny afternoon with Donisa, grabbing the last caches of Dairy Flat area. Cheers for the cache.

It was quite the mission getting our hands on that one, because a muggle was indeed waiting for public transport ^^. Found it pretty quickly thought, thanks for the cache.

02-Jun-14
I was there the first time only to see my GPS was on strike ^^. Came back with Donisa about a month later and we found it this time. That's when two fellow geocachers appeared Smile hope you guys had fun doing the Smile serie! Cheers for the hide and the puzzle.

Had trouble solving this one! Thankfully we met two geocachers on the Smile #27. They were obviously better at solving puzzles than we are ^^. Thanks guys for giving me the correct answer (in my defense there was only one wrong number Very Happy). Thanks for the cache !

31-May-14
(FTF) On our way to the Kauri walk, we stop to check this cache with Stephen King, protector of Waipoua forest Smile. Very nice tribute to this slow but beautiful regrowth of the native forest. I can't wait to see the difference as years go by. Thanks for the hide!

You guys earn your first Favorite Wink Loved the concept of the photos showing the changes.

18-May-14
That harbour is beautiful, we were glad there was this nice lookout to stop and check out the view. Thanks for the cache!

On our way to Waipoura, we're nearly there now. Then we notice this cache on the map, and decided to check it out. We absolutely loved it, very impressive rock formations! Also it was quite the adventure to go all the way, as it was high tide with little showers. We really wanted to log this cache so we attempted desperately to measure the boulders with our fingers and erm... well our whole bodies ^^. Hopefully the answers we've sent will be enough! To make up ffor this poor job we took a funny picture. Cheers for the cache, deserves another fav point Wink

Impressionnant...

Nice little corner to stop by, go to the loo, brush our teeth... oh wait there's a cache here Smile. We quickly found the coordinates but the GPS died at that very moment, so had to rely on the hint ^^ . Cheers for the cache!

Last cache of our weekend of adventures with Donisa. We finally meet the king... That tree is truly magnificent! Cheers for the cache, nice place for a hide as Donisa wisely said it, it keeps the Kauri trees safe.

Quick stop on our way to waipoura forest. Thanks for the cache.

17-May-14
On our way to Waipoura forest from the north, we stopped here and picked up a beautiful GeoCoin. TFTC.

We enjoyed those beautiful dunes with Donisa, making angels in the sand, haha. Dramatic landscape and very unexpected (well if you don't notice all the "Te Paki Dunes" signs). Cheers for the cache!

Another stop on our way to the next overnight stay. It's interesting to see what kiwi expose as historic places. Being europeans, we're not used to see so much little memorial plaques, and such young historic facts. Thanks for the hide Smile

After Cap Reinga, we (Donisa and I) went to see those beautiful dunes. It was funny to watch people sliding down the slopes with those little boards. as for us, after climbing up the first dune, we just jumped and tumbled down in the sand, which was just as fun ^^. Thanks for the cache.

Quick grab on the way, and very nice view. Thank you for the cache!

We finally made it : New Zealand from the very south to the very north! We really enjoyed finding out about Maori legends. There's definetely something about this Pohutekawa. This story deserved a cache and I'm glad the owner decided not to put a physical container on this land of spiritual significance. Found easily on the spot with Donisa. TFTC.

I'm so glad we can log a cache to remember the starting point of that amazing hike... This was a beautiful crossing through the dunes with the golden sunset, and a crazy adventure walking to the camp at night, with the sound of the ocean to guide our steps, haha. Sneaky hide, Thanks for the cache!

16-May-14
On our way to Cape Reinga, we stopped in Kawakawa. How can you not stop there when you see those wonderful creations. It's the most amazing loo I've ever seen, you spend more time exporing than going for a waz ^^. I was surprised when I saw there was a Glyn cache here, man you have caches everywhere! Loved the title Smile TFTC.

We still have a long way to go, but we found such interesting places to stop! After the colorfuls tiles of Kawakawa, we visited the magnificent stairs of Kauri Kingdom. We stopped here for a nice picnic on the grass, and quickly logged our way thanks to this cache. TFTC.

After visiting the toilets and what appeared to be a path to Alice's wonderland (go check it out, it's in the middle of the main street, opposite the toilets), we grabbed this one before heading north again. Sneaky little hide Smile TFTC.

That's a really nice spot to spend the night! So here we are once again, another breakfirst contempling a beautiful landscape, waiting for the tents to dry... Hey let's find a cache! This one was a bit difficult with all those rocks, but we found it eventually. TFTC.

15-May-14
This was our last long weekend of exploring, and we made the most of it ! Whangarei was our first stop on our way to the very north. Beautiful falls indeed, quite unexpected at such short distance to the city centre. Now somebody (might be me) forgot to top up their phone credit... so we couldn't download the cache right away Very Happy. That's fine, we got to go down to the falls once again. TFTC!

Dernier long weekend d'aventures (4 jours), ça promet!

10-May-14
It's good to have geocaching for all the stories and informations. There's not much infos there, so thanks for the very complete description, Glyn Smile. Wish I could see inside the cottage. Nice location anyway, and very enjoyable walk. Time to get back to Stillwater Park before it gets too dark! TFTC.

Another very clever hide Smile. Had to go trough a muddy path after last week's rain, so it felt like adventure Very Happy. TFTC.

Another fail for me Sad Loved the little path across the water. Thanks for the little resting place.

First cache for me today. I didn't have so much energy and missed quite a lot on the way. Enjoyable walk for a saturday afternoon though, so thanks for the trail, glyn Smile. TFTC.

The rating scared me a little but in the end, found it way faster than the other ones. I'd better hurry up if I don't want to see Dacre cottage by torch light ^^. Cheers for the hide.

Nice view with the beautiful light of the low sun... wait what? oh man I'd better hurry up ><. Cheers for the cache!

I really wanted to find this one, so I searched for a long time... but no luck :-\. Beautiful place indeed!

No luck for this one either. I hope it's still in place, considering all the DFNs. It could be though, 'cause I wasn't at the top of my game today ^^. Thanks for the hide.

I couldn't find that one :-\ I'm a bit slow today! I started to skip some caches from this point, as the sun is going down quite fast. TFTC.

Nice view. I enjoyed walking in the sand too. I wasn't sure where my GPS was taking me but I saw the little treasure by pure chance ^^ TFTC.

Easy grab on my way to Dacre cottage. Nearly there! TFTC.

I had to back up a little bit as I completely forgot to check my GPS ^^. This happens way to often! Another Glyn-style hide Smile. I bet he's got a special shed with all the tools for making those ninja camoed caches, haha. TFTC.
