Logs for Lekker Caterpillar

Before heading to the cinema, we crossed the Dam to take a look at this cache. Since it was already dark, it was a lot easier to reach in to find the cache. We signed the logbook and took some pictures before heading off for a wee walk. Thanks for the cache Smile

We've been up to Wawel lots of times and now there was a new virtual to come and take a look at here. We soon reached the courtyard and spotted some of the dragons protecting the courtyard. Thanks for the virtual Smile

We've never been out to this part of Amsterdam before but we're glad we made it over today thanks to this cache. The monument to homosexual victims of the holocaust was very moving, definitely an important spot for all visitors to pause and reflect for a moment.
We quickly spotted a likely hiding spot and soon had the cache in hand. Thanks for the well hidden cache at such an interesting and important spot Smile

Mr Caterpillar and his muggle friends continued their Belfast trip with a visit to the local muggle's home. They then decided to head into town via the bus. It was going to take 15 minutes, so Mr Caterpillar decided to check the caching app just in case Wink Sure enough, there was a cache just across the road! So the three of them headed across the street to have a wee look for the cache.

Mr Caterpillar read the description, logs and hint but was a bit worried because it hadn't been found since August. Well they started to look but the muggles weren't too sure on what they were looking for and how to find it. Mr Caterpillar searched all along the fence and was eventually rewarded with the nano itself Big Grin He signed our name to the logbook and showed his friends the container. They were quite surprised at just how small and well hidden it was.

Thanks for the cache at this interesting spot Smile

Earlier in the summer we had received a geocaching booklet from Millieballon that included a list of the oldest geocaches in Europe. So far this summer we had found 2 of the oldest caches in Europe; Sun Gear in Finland and Amsterdam Urban 1 in the Netherlands. Today we decided to go for an even older cache...this one! In addition to this goal, we were also trying to find caches in 5 countries today and this would make 4 Smile

After turning off the highway we drove for a bit and then found a nice, quiet spot to park the car. From there we walked a wee bit down the road until going into the forrest. From there we searched for a few minutes before finally finding the cache! It's great to find a cache that's now 15 years old Big Grin We carefully removed it from its hiding spot and looked inside. We found a few TBs and decided to swap a couple. Once we had logged it we carefully placed it back and fixed its camouflage. Then we returned to the car and headed off on to the next part of our trip.

We're so excited that this is our oldest cache as well as the 4th country of our caching day Big Grin Thanks so much for keeping this classic alive, here's to another 15 years Smile

A couple of weeks ago we received a geoaching booklet from Millieballon. In the booklet, it had a list of the oldest geocaches in Europe. We noticed that a couple of them were well within reach for our summer travels, so we made that one of our goals for the summer. Sun Gear was the first on our list. The oldest cache in Finland Big Grin

After our wee challenge we drove along and found a nice wee spot off the road to park. From there we were only around 350m or so from the cache. We headed off into the forest towards the cache. The walk was quite fun, lots of rocks and trees to go around. We didn't really have the appropriate hiking gear on, but we manage Wink After maybe 15 mins we reached the cache area. There was an interesting arrangement of rocks, but that seemed to be more decorative. Then we spotted a suspicious spot and sure enough the cache was there Big Grin

We were surprised to find two boxes. One contained some older logbooks, we had a short look at them and it was so fun to see logs from over 10 years ago. Hopefully cachers in 10 years will still be finding this one Smile

Thanks so much for keeping this old cache alive. We really enjoyed the walk through the forest and finding a piece of geocaching history. Have a favourite point from the Lekker Caterpillar Smile
