Logs for Lukey-boy

09-Feb-09
IF music soothes the savage beast, I'm not sure what this Fudge in Dm will do to the rabid cacher. Found at 5:30 on the way home from the coal mine. This cache is perfect!!! Nothing quite beats that "a-ha" moment of working out the puzzle, and the hide at GZ is fantastic.
TNLN
Thanks for the cache.

02-Aug-08
Found in the company of all the Lukey-Boy Family with Lukey-Boy jnr's 1&2 having a good search through all the "treasures" at the base of the trees in area (ie bottles, old nappies etc) much to the horror of Mrs Lukey-Boy.
Took: Hot Wheels Car
Left: Mondo Figure
Thanks for the cache

06-Jun-08
Found whilst doing Thomas&Close Bushwalk. Relatively easy find but I should of taken more care at GZ as I got covered in flying fox poo!!! A very interesting odour that lingered for hours....
THanks for the cache.

08-Feb-08
Found at 11:30 am whilst on the way to the home town to pick up Dad from hospital (Broken arms courtsey of my good self calling during an exciting cricket match!!). Easy find in a historical location. TNLN

07-Oct-07
Found at 3pm in company of EuDes and LinearZZ at the end of a tiring AWG Walk70. TNLN. Thanks for the cache teamkittens

Found at 10.30 am in the company of EuDes, LinearZZ and Slacas. It was quite amusing to have made it to the cache location, only to hear three fellow cachers blundering around the bush still a way off. Its no wonder we don't see any wildlife on these AWG walks. TNLN. Thanks for the cache

Found at 11:15 am in the company of Slacas, LinearZZ and EuDes. Apart from the inherent challenges involved in peak bagging, I guess no one could predict the possibility of our dedicated CFA driving very large fire trucks down the same track that we are walking up. That's when you really realise how big those trucks really are ... TNLN. Thanks for the cache.

Found at 2:30 pm in the company of LinearZZ and EuDes after a leisurely lunch with the rest of the AWG and then a good extended slog uphill. The great thing with this series is that when you get to the location you have so many good locations to try and find the cache. TNLN. Thanks for the cache and the series. Will have to attempt #5 in the fullness of time.

27-May-07
Found after a long break in caching (nearly 8 months!!). Was on ARPNSA Bike Ride#2 in company of EuDes and AlSuMe having a rest stop when EuDes suggested to turn on my GPS, and lo-and-behold there is a cache 12 metres to my right. Quickly in hand, though the return was delayed by a relative of ET's using the phone, but then deciding that using a mobile phone next to a land-line is far better way to communicate to those near-and-dear. Thanks for the cache.

25-Sep-06
Found at 9.45 am. This was my third attempt on this cache with the GPS giving me all kinds of grief ie the darn thing kept on pointing the the middle of the lounge of the house next door!! However the excellent clue spurred me on and the prize was in hand. Thanks for the cache.

20-Sep-06
FOund at 2:45 pm, after a nervous search with lots of muggles around. Having the GPS read 12 m off did not help either. TNLN. Thanks for the cache

19-Sep-06
Found at 12:05 pm while in town with the family. An excellent spot for the cache with amazing views. Lesson 1 learnt on this one, was it isn't always sensible to try and take the line of direct approach (ie straight up) to get the prize. Lesson 2 learnt was, make sure your hat is firmly on the head, as watching it blow off and spiral 10-20 metres down granite boulders leaves a sinking feeling in the stomach. (Hat was successfully rescued).
TNLN. Thanks for the cache.

Found at 11.45 am. Council workers were out in force causing me to make a quick retreat on my first attempt, but family was happy to hang around in the town for an hour or so, leaving me to make a successfully find. TNLN. Thanks for the cache.

19-Aug-06
A nice trip with one of the Lukey-Boy jnrs in tow. Cache in good condition, but a bit exposed, so I covered it up well when leaving.
In: 3 mondo's
Out: Toy compass, and tigger toy
Thanks for the cache.

26-Mar-06
Find number 13 out of 13 for the day at 17:10 pm. Found in the company of EuDes. Found on 2nd attempt as we back tracked along the trail, having to leave it the first time due to muggles. An excellent time was had doing this series by bike. The ride was 48 km return, starting at Woori Yallock, took approximately 5 and half hours, and included a pleasant 3 pot break at the Home Hotel. Thanks for the cache and the series. TNLN.

Find number 6 for the day at 13:20. Found in the company of EuDes and curious friend Julie. Found on 2nd attempt as we back tracked along the trail. EuDes saved the day again finding the cache after a long intensive search over a very large structure. Thanks for the cache. TNLN

First Cache find for the day as EuDes and I explore the Warburton Trail in the company of curious friend Julie. Cache was a bit damp, so water was emptied out before replacing. Thanks for the cache. TNLN.

Find number 2 for the day at 12.00pm. Found in the company of EuDes and curious friend Julie. Thanks for the cache. TNLN.

Find number 4 for the day at 12:25 pm. Found in the company of EuDes and curious friend Julie. Thanks for the cache. TNLN

Find number 5 for the day at 12:57 pm. Found in the company of EuDes and curious friend Julie. Very pleasant ride to this cache. EuDes saved the day finding the cache after a long fruitless search in an area that would be very off putting to somebody with archnidphobia. Thanks for the cache. TNLN.

Find number 7 for the day at 15:20 pm. Found in the company of EuDes and curious friend Julie. Found after a brief break at the Home Hotel. A beer googles seem to have improved our finding skills. Thanks for the cache. TNLN

Find number 8 for the day at 16:20 pm Found in the company of EuDes. Found after riding onto Warburton, and we were now coming back down the trail. Curious friend Julie had now parted company as she needed to finish her days activities, and watching EuDes and I scrambling around bridges didn't seem to amuse her anymore. Thanks for the cache. TNLN

Find number 9 for the day at 16:30 pm. Found in the company of EuDes. Found once we cleared scampering mice out of the way. An ale or two at this spot is heartily recommended, but not if you are driving of course. Thanks for the cache. TNLN

Find number 10 for the day at 16:40 pm. Found in the company of EuDes. Found with the usual amount of effort. EuDes at this point suggests a torch could be considered an essential item for these caches. Thanks for the cache. TNLN

Find number 11 for the day at 16:50 pm. Found in the company of EuDes. Found with the help of the clue. Very neat spot, which one needs keen eyes to see. Thanks for the cache. TNLN

Find number 12 for the day at 17.05 pm. Found in the company of EuDes. Found on 2nd attempt as we back tracked along the trail. Thanks for the cache. TNLN

Find number 3 for the day at 12:10 pm. Found in the company of EuDes and curious friend Julie. An awkward search found the cache on the ground under the structure. We replaced the cache on the actual strucutre in the smae manner as the other caches in this series. Thanks for the cache. TNLN

10-Dec-05
Fortune had it that I was at a family Christmas do at the first waypoint of this cache, so with out much ado I wander off with GPSr inhand. Had poor reception due to overhead trees which lead to all kinds of trouble at last waypoint (I was positive the cache wasn't in the middle of the river!!!!). Anyhow with the clue I quickly had cache in hand. TNLN. Thanks for the cache.

12-Nov-05
Here with EuDes and ssmc4 after doing the great French Island assualt. A pleasant little corner of the world. I read with interest the diverse fauna that call this place home. TNLN. Thanks for the cache.

Found in the company of ssmc4 and EuDes. For me this was a cache with a different flavour, and a bit of fun as EuDes struggled to set an offset waypoint on his GPS while ssmc4 and myself just wandered off in the general direction. As punishment to EuDes, for not knowing how to use his Geko, and for other crimes performed earlier in the day, (see GCA1B5) we sent him to do the final cache recovery. TNLN. Thanks for the cache.

The day of great adventure arrived, and after an early start and quick drive down with EuDes and ssmc4 we just made it in time to get the ferry. A great ride across and we easily found the cache at about 11 am. The trick to this cache is avoiding all those blood sucking vultures that people kindly call mosquitos. Thanks for cache. TNLN

Having left Numero 1, EuDes, ssmc4, Alan-san and myself thought this would be a piece of cake to collect this last cahce and catch the 1 pm ferry. What we didn't count on is EuDes's ability to interpret faint squigly lines on maps as being roads that vehicles/bikes oreven the odd horse can travel on. Well thanks to EuDes's glass is half-full approach to life, we definitely got to see a side of French Island that most bike riders wouldn't (and probably shouldn't) see. We eventually got to the cache at 1pm. TNLN.

Lessons learnt ....

Do not listen to EuDes when caching/bushwalking/riding a bike anywhere .....

Thanks for the cache .... a great day which will remember for a long time.

Good News : Lukey-boy had to do some shopping near the GZ, looks like a chance for some caching.
Bad News : Mrs Lukey-boy suggested Lukey-boy jnrs come along. Jnrs enjoy caching, but not multi-caches and definitely not ones involving hills.

Good News : Lukey-Boy decides to minimise time on decrypting the clues, so takes a guess at the park name.
Bad News : I forgot the letter "L" exists in the alphabet.

Good News : Had preplanned assult on GZ and determined approach to initial starting point.
Bad News : I went to wrong playground, in the wrong park, on the wrong side of the creek.

Thanks for the cache AlSuMe. Its in area with a lot of memories of me riding the bike up and down the paths in the area. Unfortunately I don't think its done anything to increase Jnrs enthusasim for caching.

28-Mar-05
Found in the very pleasant company of all those others who logged it for the day. Must admit it is a very good way of avoiding muggles is to head off as a very large noisy group. Everyone is bound to ignore you regardless of what you are doing.

Thanks for the cache

Found in the company of Mrs Lukey-Boy and Luke-Boy Jnrs in tow after parting company with EuDes, Alsume, 4 men and a lady and LinearZZ and their respective companions. A pleasant find on what could only be described as a glorious afternoon.

Took : MacDonalds Game
Left : Knight figure

Thanks for the cache

Woo Hoo!! A cache only 500 metres from my front door, and in area I come to almost daily with Wife/kids/dogs. It took several visits over the evening but I finally made the find. On the final visit I had the joy of bumping into fellow cacher "Kake is good", and we made the FTF together at 8.15 pm (Just as the mossie began to come out in force). I would say the difficulty of this cache will be highly dependent on the amount of through traffic of people, dogs and joggers. From personnal experience I know heaps of people travel through the final GZ (especially in good weather/daylight).

Thanks for the cache Dak's, it will definitely remain in my top 10.

Took : Big Feet TB

An excellent series of caches. Congratulations to Dak's. Found at 7.10 pm after a bit trouble with weak signals. Thanks for the cache and all the hard work you obviously have put into the series.

Cheers Lukey-Boy

26-Feb-05
Found with the boys in tow. This was my second attempt as the first time I tried a nice elderly gentleman had taken up a spot at the GZ, and he looked like wasn't going to move anytime soon. This time was a successful find as I did an early morning assault before such gentlemen arise from bed.

Love this park, it has a lot of memories. The boys like this park as well because it is full of ducks and great play equipment.

TNLN,
Cheers Eshan

A bit of bunk bed shopping at nearby shops lead the Lukey-boy family over to this corner of the world. Took the opportunity for some caching and found this wonderful park. The cache is a cunning hide, and the nearby play equipment useful for keeping the juniors amused while looking for the prize. Best camoflogue yet on a cache. Thanks for the challenge.

TNLN.

A pleasant day for caching with the Lukey-boy family. Mrs Lukey-boy was very excited to find such a wonderful place hidden away in suburbia. The birds were a wonderful feature and the lack of snakes an even better one. Jnr no.1 very nervous of all the snake signs. Cache an easy find with a bit of crouching. Thanks for the cache.

An easy find with the two Lukey-boy jnrs in tow. First cache for the new year. Whoo yhoo! Jnrs fascinated with the surroundings. Thanks for the cache.

20-Nov-04
Early morning find with the Lukey-boy jnrs in tow. First trip to a final resting place which they found fascinating. The local flying machines provided a nice distraction for them as well.
Took: Textas

Thanks for the cache.

13-Nov-04
Early Morning chance to find this one with Lukey-boy jnrs in tow. Have attempted this over many work-time lunches only to be stopped many times by passing muggles.

31-Oct-04
A picnic with my brothers and mine families lead me to pull out the trusty GPS and see what was near by. A pleasant stroll and a quick search lead to the find.

28-Sep-04
Got to cache after coming in from wrong side of hills, with a 1.5 km jog down access track. Great view of the Lake though. Found cache after a bit of search. Cache was full of water, and ink stamp had leaked to produce a lovely green fluid that stains the hands for about 48 hrs. Log book however was safe in zip lock bag. Drained container, aired everything out, removed now defunct ink pad.
Out: 50F coin
In : Scorpion key ring (apologies if this scares anyone opening the cache)
Put log book in another zip lock bag for further protection.

27-Sep-04
Slightly damp cache, that may suffer if the river decides to flood. Definitely not a cache to visit when the snakes are out in force, but in spring the air is full of lovely native birds and the sound of frogs fills the air.
Out : Small duck
In : Small dinosaur

26-Sep-04
Had a bit of fun with EuDes with this one, but I quickly discovered that going cross-country 400m is definitely slower than drive by car down a windy road. EuDes got there first, but at least he hid it again so I had the joy of finding it by myself.
Out : 2 chupa chups left by muggles!!!
In : Vic Police bottle openner/key chain.

16-Sep-04
A great cache in a corner of Victoria I wouldn't of normally gone to. Three cheers to the local farmer who allows access to this feature through his property. Once at waypoint, cache easily located. It should be noted some of the camo on this cache is wearing thin and may leave cache open to muggles. Took nothing but felt I had to leave a dinosaur in this prehistoric setting.

Can see why spot is popular for gliders. The cool breeze however does keep prying eyes away from the seaching geocacher. As I had Lukey-boy Jnr with me, he felt a new highlighter would be fun to draw on himself with so,
Out : Highlight
In : Dinosaur

Went looking for this early one morning after a rainy night. No joy in finding the cache and it is worth noting the ground at the waypoint is very unstable after rain. Given the previous log on this cache, one might think the cache has gone walk-about. The view from this point however is spectacular and made the morning stroll more than worthwhile.
