Logs for Maria Cruse

08-Mar-15
Saw that this has shown up again so went for a quick find while waiting for family to show up for Walking With Dinosaurs Smile

28-Feb-15
Finally found after getting down & dirty with crusing 5, sparkman733 and dinoboy3377. Written as mcc5smdb to save time and space. New log will be needed soon as nearly full. Would hav replaced but didn't hav kit on me Sad

23-Feb-15
Solved this one on the 7th Jan 2015, but couldn't find it when I looked on the 9th Jan. Didn't log as I had only found my first cache on the 3rd and I was still learning what to keep an eye out for.
Finally had a chance to head out this way again while taking Bike-Rider-66 on a tour of Auckland before deciding where to pass him on, and hoped that this would be my 60th.
Despite having to don a glove to reluctantly disloge a spiders home (luckily he seemed to be out at the time) this was an easy spot and I can't believe I missed it the first time!

Nice easy find! GPS spot on the dot and a systematic search came up with the goods.
Trackables still in there, safe and sound. Didn't take any as I am currently escorting Bike-Rider-66 around Auckland, but did leave a dino to keep guard Big Grin

ps forgot to mention - wear insect repellant - got bit by insects and they were subtle suckers as I didn't realise until I was about a block away Sad

Taking Bike-Rider-66 on a tour of Auckland before sending him on his way. We stopped here for some photos, and just as I was safely tucking him back in my bag before grabbing the cache a car pulled up right next to me! Did up my bag as slowly as I could thinking that the muggle would be out and off, but no, he sat there ... had a drink ... still the muggle sat there...
Never mind - will be back - and this time I'll grab the cache BEFORE taking photos!

22-Feb-15
Nice easy find with crusing 5 & the caching hounds. Had a search break while 2 muggles walked past with their riders and again before replacing ta to s family. Logged as MC&C5 to save space.

Nice find today with crusing 5 Smile took trackable (my first one). Left magnaman.

08-Feb-15
Came here looking for clues for the All Around Auckland Monumental multi when Crusing 5 asked me if I was also going to look for this one (so glad she did as I hadn't realised that this was here). So while she and the kidlets were at the park, I skipped Auntie duty to quickly score this one!
After going a bit too far South and giving up (I think I really need to learn to read and count), I was walking back to the park when I spotted something suspicious, had a looksee, and there they were - 2 caches with logs so I signed both before re-hiding.
Thanks for the cache Smile

07-Feb-15
Out with Crusing 5 and kidlets who led us to area with no probs. Thought I knew where it was but no luck. Crusing 5 managed to score exactly where I was looking - just not at right level :p After signing log fun was had on the tyre balance swing!

Didn't get stung but did get scratched ta to Crusing 5's gps error and Master 6 going back to Grandma with mine. A well rewarding cache with a surprise within a surprise within a surprise ....

Out with Crusing 5 and kidlets. First chance to see this part of the gardens. Nice first find for master 10. Log a bit damp but still able to write. Was worried bout muggles given how busy the gardens were but this unfounded. Tftc.

06-Feb-15
Nice easy find with Crusing 5 once we got to the right side of the river. Took buddha, left car & ladybird to make equal swap. Everything in fd condition. Livr thd cache guardian Smile

Took some hunting but Crusing 5 made the find first. Always knew the motorway was close to the gardens but never realised exactly how close. All in gd condition. TNLNSL. Tftc.

Took some hunting and use of photos to find this tricky sucker but got there in the end... tnlnsl

05-Feb-15
Found WP 1 on the 24th Jan '15 and solved it easily enough but too many muggles at final to risk looking.
Finally got chance to back to look for it today with success Smile
Log book was full so I added some paper. I left the original in place in case CO wants to keep it.
Thanks for showing me a bit of AKL history that I otherwise would never have noticed/known about, and a nice uphill walk to get the heart pumping Smile

Have sent answers to CO. A very nice walk around the domain refreshing my geology knowledge (something I have definately let slide).

My first wherigo and my 50th cache!
For some reason my android kept dropping the gps signal so I had to keep saving and exiting to reactivate it but other than that everything seemed to go perfectly.
Thanks for taking me to parts of the domain I'd never been to before and showing me statues/sculptures I would not have found otherwise.
The cache itself was a bit exposed so I hope I've hidden it a bit better. Everything inside was nice and dry tho the ink on the explanation sheet seems to be bleeding inwards. Tftc Smile

Solved this puzzle last night and made for a quick find today. In honor of this beautiful cache location, I added a small 3D butterfly sticker.
Everything was nice and dry despite all the rain yesterday. Thanks for the history lesson and a beautiful walk Smile

03-Feb-15
My first Hybrid! Nice walk down to it, found it easily thanks to clue. Replaced a pen that had escaped the box and was lying on the ground which was my bonus second clue. TNLN.

finally found it after checking out about 3 other pongas first. Great little hide which I spotted only after looking from the right angle. Got my first bite of the day signing the log Sad

Nice easy find tho the steps make me think I'm not as fit as I thought I was. Just wish I saw the handle before I put my hand in. On plus side I'm slowly overcoming my fear of cobwebs and spiders Smile

Walked straight past tree due to concentrating too much on breathing after all those steps. Only realised I'd gone too far when I saw the road at the top of yet anouther set! Other than that, a nice easy find Wink Took the baby gnome holding the cake and left a car.

So glad I'd read the previous logs. Was sure I had it but retrieval proved a bit stubborn. Had some water, a snack and a second go proved successful. Luckily the few people that were around were too busy to pay any attention to me. Took nothing but left a dice that flashes when used.

02-Feb-15
Nice easy find - gps was cooperating so I didn't need the clue. Loved the camo. Log a bit damp but still usable. Tftc Smile

Missed first look. found after I read clue. All nice and dry. Looks like area didn't get yesterdays rain at all...

Great spot for a snack and drink! So glad bus driver and spiders didn't choose this spot to have a nap. Log will need replacing soon - only 3 spots left.

Had a doh moment with the clue, but found it in the end! Great spot never would have realised that it didn't belong to a house if u hadn't pointed it out. Tnln everything in tiptop shape Smile tftc

01-Feb-15
Must confess that I wouldn't have this if Crusing 5 wasn't prepared to drive me around Smile Cache in great condition and conditions weren't too hazardous considering the rain! TFTC

Found with Crusing 5 after arming ourselves with gumboots. Cruising 5 has taken TB. Great hiding spot for a cache, logbook slightly damp but should be fine. Like others found gz to be about 8m off but description accurate.

Went nuts but found it in the end with crusing 5. Cache in top shape. Listed us as MC&C5 to save space.

Was able to find this thanks to Crusing 5 being my driver. Have to say that gps was sending me to the wrong corner and I only realised when I heard Crusing 5 laughing to herself.
Sad to report that one of the clips broke off as I was replacing the lid Sad Unfortunately I didn't have any rubber bands on me, however the other 3 clips seem to be holding it on ok. I've double bagged everything and wedged the clipless side in first so hopefully the cache will last a while longer...

26-Jan-15
Nice place to sit in the sun admiring the local art work while watching the world go by...

Nice and quiet - great time to find a cache! Despite no no towing sign was an easy find. Great feeling to finally knock this one off after the muggle swarm last visit Smile

25-Jan-15
Such a lovely day so decided to go for a few caches and get my first EarthCache Smile
Struggled to get measurements thanks to a cloth measuring tape, tho it did make getting the circumfrence easier Smile
GPS is on my android phone.

21-Jan-15
Finally found it Smile Took 3 weeks, multiple re-visits of way-points, checking and re-checking of calculations, email to TT, reading/re-reading of previous comments and multiple kicking of butt for mis-reading clues/being blind, ... tho I must confess that I did keep getting sidetracked by the fish in the water at the final!
Thanks for a great cache, and a wonderful tour of Auckland's waterfront.

18-Jan-15
Great cache! Took 2 visits with crusing 5 to find wp 1 & final. MY FIRST MULTI! Tftc.

Great puzzle, easy find. Found with crusing5. First puzzle find, first night find, first time to be in the top 3. Thank you! Cool

10-Jan-15
nice easy find - once I got my gps to work properly. Luckily I got there early enough to be undetected, when I walked past a few hours later the park was crawling with muggles.

Nice easy find. Big thanks for the hint to avoid the rat trap - esp after nearly standing on a dead bird my last cache Sad

started looking for bricks to look behind when a swarm of muggles came wondering by... will be back later & hopefully before semester starts ...

Nice easy find ... once I got to the right place. Can't belive I used to have lectures next to the fale and never saw it!

took some time inbetween sitting on benches while muggles went past but I found it Smile Would have been quicker if I wasn't wearing sunnies I think...

Thanks to the Red-breasted Road Warblers working in the zone (how dare they - it's a SATURDAY!) I had to walk on by ... but I'll be back ...

09-Jan-15
Managed to find it between the dogs and their human slaves Smile

Nice easy find and a quiet spot for morning tea - til 2 ambulances went past.

And soon as I logged off after posting the above I got bitten by bugs Sad BE WARNED!

Was about to give up when a train went past so I stopped hunting to watch it. Turned to go when I had an "aha" moment and there it was...

Amazing cache - thought I'd got it wrong til I saw the pill case. Amazing view. Big thanks to those who came up the hard way ...
