Logs for Markwell

These caches have had a nice long run. What started off with an idea in February of 2002 from a cacher named Blackjak has finally run its course. With the demise of the virtual cache on Geocaching.com, and the long ago demise of the moving cache, these were only grandfathered caches, but I really enjoyed them.

Life and its concerns and worries are starting to chip away at my time, and I came to a point earlier this month when I started looking at my priorities and what was important. Somehow, keeping up with these moving virtual caches and updating the 11 versions, e-mailing back and forth with unresponsive finders, and eventually having to find my own suggested locations has taken toll on me.

So many people have written me with these caches to say how glad they were that there was something innovative and new to the caching world. Something different and outside-of-the-box. Those notes almost made it worth my time and effort to keep these active.

I would like to thank all those that found these caches, took great photos and suggested such wonderful locations for future finders. I may at somepoint set up a waymark category for locations that were once listed as Photographer's Caches. Until then, these 11 caches are archived.

Yet again, my real life has been intruding on my maintenance of these Photographer's Caches. I will have everything updated within the next week.

Sorry if I've been neglecting these photographer's caches for a little while. I've been busy with some home stuff that has caught up with me.

I hope to be able to make sure that this cache and all of the others in the series are completely up-to-date by the August 30.

For anyone out there watching and waiting, please be patient. I've been receiving e-mails and notifications.

Thanks!

Sorry I haven't updated this one. I've been a little busy lately. I also haven't heard from the last finder, so I will update to a new location within the week.

Corrected coords

70 feet? Not bad considering I got the coordinates from 600 miles away via Microsoft Streets and Trips.

Time for this one to move on...

10-Dec-04
Merlin & Elf visited first, but had to return to get the GPS shot. Inukshuk visited second, but got the GPS shot posted first.

Caselaw says that whoever logs their GPS shot first gets to move. Merlin & Elf can keep the smiley, but I'm looking to Inukshuk for the next move.

Since michigan_chris was the only one to log this cache within the 90 day period, and he was at least at the coordinates, I'm going to e-mail them directly regarding some minor problems and the next moove..

Not bad. It appears that I was only about 38m off with those coordinates. Both can lay claim to the find but bebenoir has the right to choose the next location.

The tourons have it. Greg Brady had a "cursed" idol in the episode of the Brady Bunch when they went to Hawaii. All kinds of bad things happened: Peter getting tarantula on his bed, Greg wiping out while surfing and getting mildly injured, etc. The Hawaiian gods in the picture are identical (except in size) to the statue that Greg wore around his neck.

Mayall Telescope was correct. Coordinates were as close as I could get them without knowing the area too well.

I'll contact ShadowAce momentarily.

OK...

If you were on the exact coordinates and that's what you saw, you can claim the find, but not the move. As that wasn't the intended target.

No GPS Shot? Unforutnately, it really shouldn't even count as a find without the required GPS shot. You can leave your log as a note, but not a find.

golefts
Required GPS shot of the otter - we have a winner.

The cache moved on June 2, 2004 to a new location after no one finding it for 90 days in Driggs, ID. It was a large sculpture of a potato near a drive-in theater.

Please see RoadsideAmerica.com's description of the big spud.

I'd welcome pictures (the town chamber of commerce indicated that it's still there), but since the cache isn't there, pictures can only be placed with a “note†- not a “found it.†

These pics were e-mailed to me by yooper trooper.

There is a traditional cache within 0.3 miles of the coordinates.

But if you haven't visited this cache after July 4, 2003, then you haven't visited THIS cache, which will only be here temporarily. You will also need to post a picture of at least your GPS in the photograph.

Chef4Sale - please change your found it log to a note, or delete the find, as on June 25 this cache was in Waukegan, IL.

Outstanding shots - and not what we even intended when Cache Baby and I discussed this placement. We were thinking of the 1:8 scale replica in white marble like they have on the website www.crazyhorse.org - but yours is a rather unique shot. Great job!

Now, you get to pick the next location. Don't forget, you can always discuss it over with me at [email protected]
