Christmas Cache is 20 years old today. We held an event cache earlier today. Seven of us from the event drove over for the hike. Perfect weather. About 60 degrees and sunny. Dry trails all the way. Saw two small black snakes sunning along the trail. Thanks to Doctor voiceover, FL Pirate, The wench, Ikolor, and tumbleweed42 for accompanying me. Thanks to lorriebird for scheduling the event cache. Earns a fav.

I have been planning my trip to Utah for over a year. I have been following this cache almost daily since early May. How many inches of snow are still on the ground? I appreciate the link to the weather report for the area. I was so relieved to see the snow was gone, the gates were open and people were logging their finds. Today was the big day. I used some other caches in the area as way points, as I was not sure if my car GPS would find it's way all the way to GZ. The drive along Miller Flat road, all 11 miles of it, took almost 35 minutes as I didn't want it to be too bumpy. We now are at Potters Pond. We get to drive my rental car over the river (took a photo of course, will post when I get home). Now can I park at #19 as people recommend? Found #19 and saw it wasn't reserved til 7-17-19, so it was all mine. My wife stayed in the car as I started my trek. Found Potters Pond 10 + 59 first. Piece of cake. Next how to cross the stream. I went across a large tree and found the trail on the other side. Now on to Potters 2 Present. Piece of cake part II. Back to the trail. Went a little further on and ducked under a fallen tree, then over two fallen trees and then I didn't notice that the trail went to my left as I was facing uphill towards GZ. So I bushwhacked the remaining 150' or so. Found the cache. Signed the log. Left 4 TB. Took a few photos and noticed the trail was right there. So I followed it back to where I started my bushwhacking and over the logs, under the log, back to the tree, across the tree, about 3 more minutes and I'm back at the car. I asked my wife to get out and take a photo of me doing my "I found Potters Pond" Happy Dance. Took about 25 minutes to hike in, not counting stopping for the two caches on the way. I now have all three "Aug 2000" caches (in the US). I have a double Jasmer and with this cache I have 8 caches left for my 3rd and 4th Jasmers. I do concur with the last logged cacher, a 2 difficulty for terrain? But 19 years ago, who really knew how to classify caches. Earns a fav. Thanks for keeping this alive. I did stop at the non urban LPC on my way out.

Wow! I have been wanting to hunt this one down for a long time. Left Minot today on a 5:00 am flight. Flew to Minneapolis and changed planes. Now on to Denver. Picked up rental car. Drove 3 1/2 hours to Arikaree. Found that. Drove about 1 1/2 hours to Mingo. Quick find. Took some photos. Will upload when I get home in a few weeks. This makes my 4th May 2000 find. Earns a fav. Visiting from North Dakota. Spent last night in Duluth GA. Quick drive up this morning before sun up. Took the wrong fork in the trail, but was able to figure out I was going wrong way. Got back on track. Found quickly. Earns a fav. This is my second find for Aug 2000. Hope to find the one in UT this summer, then on to Stockholm sometime in the future. TFTC
Had a great day today on the lake with WadeH, Hamfam07, and Kat-as-trophy. Rented a pontoon boat from the Port Royal Marina. They were very helpful. I was able to watch their online video a few weeks ago and them complete their online quiz to qualify for a GA boat safety certificate. Wasn't the best of weather, but being from North Dakota, anytime it's warmer than freezing in January, I'm a happy camper. Thanks for keeping this cache going. Earns a fav.
