The cache appears to be missing for the second time. We don't live locally, so replacing has become a problem.

Thanks to some amazing cachers, this cache has been dried and has a new log in it. We would appreciate it if anyone who goes to find it could replace the pill container with one that has a lid. Enjoy the beautiful East Coast.
13-Sep-19
We have disabled this cache until our mate in Tokomaru Bay can clean and dry the cache. Thanks for the heads up that we need to do some maintenance.

Mrs Wizard was quietly sitting by the gun emplacement and said to herself (in her head so she didn't appear too mad) "I bet there's a cache somewhere near here". There was, so when the rest of the walking party arrived we made a quick find. We had no writing equipment and even though we have signed a log in blood before, in the absence of a pen, no one was willing to bleed. So we didn't sign the log, took nothing and left nothing. Thanks for the cache anyway!

25/10/18. Cache checked. The log book was damp. We left it in the cache and added a new one. Please do not put them in the same plastic bag. We were honoured to spend some time with two of the resident takahe.
13-Oct-18
We are unable to get to Te Puru to replace the cache, which is obviously missing if the last few logs are correct.
18-Jul-18
Cache is still safely in it's nest. The log book has been replaced with a dry one, and all wet treasures have been removed. We saw a flock of 10 rosellas nearby, and found the spring flowers were already out on the island.
Log has been replaced with a new one. Please use "handle" to pull the tiny log out. Pencil enclosed. A beautiful day in the bay today

Cache has been replaced. When you put it back, please ensure it is well hidden. If it is replaced corectly, it cannot be seen from the road.
03-Mar-18
It seems the cache has gone. We will replace it as soon as possible (but we live in Auckland!)
13-Nov-17
The cache has disappeared. We will replace it next time we are on the Island.

Pipiriki. A place we had wanted to see for ages having read several novels (kids and adults) about the river boats. The Colonial House is now looking spruce, not neglected. TFTC

On a road trip for a few days, we chose this road for a reason. Mr Wizard lived at a little place called Tuhua. His father was the teacher at the sole charge school and Paul was born in Taumarunui hospital. The school and school house have gone, and he was so young when he left 62 years ago that he doesn't remember it, but it was nice to stop there and think. We were blessed with cold but sunny weather for our trip, which made driving this amazing road all the more wonderful. Now Mr Wizard is eyeing it up for a motorbike trip! Left a mozzie band (for next summer). TFTC
When choosing a new place to visit, it's always nice to have a cache to find and some interesting local information. TFTC

We spent a lot of time looking upwards at a vocal magpie while waiting for a bus load of muggle tourists to move on! Busy on the last day of the school holidays. Left a mosquito bracelet. Took a sewing kit. TFTC
Took a while to spot this one, and longer to wait for a gap in the procession of muggle families!
Left a little anchor. TFTC

jard1037 said there was a cache here when we muggled him earlier, so we thought we might do a little search despite having no co-ordinates and no clues. Found it and signed the log. Thanks for placing more caches at this end of the island. Our cache has been here on its own for too long. Not expecting to be caching today, we had no trades. TFTC.
We were sitting admiring the view when a gentleman arrived and said he was taking part in a "game" .We asked if it might be geocaching he was doing, and he introduced himself as jard1037. We figured as much as we had just checked our nearby cache and someone had just signed it. Searched together and found it. Not expecting to be caching today, we had no trades so SL only. TFTC. It's nice to have more caches at this end of the island as ours has been the only one for a long time.

Somewhat belated log entry. Found this when we walked the length of the beach and collected all the caches. Have had a family bach here for 50 years and still love the place. TFTC

Out for a Sunday afternoon drive. Chose Cornwallis for our destination. Not may visitors around, so very peaceful. Lovely place for a hide. The logbook is very wet, but we managed to sign and leave a slinky for the junior cachers. TFTC
Sunday drive took us to Cornwallis and a monument we have never visited. Left a slinky for the juniors and signed the log. TFTC

Mr Wizard was delighted to see the plaque commemorating an historic ride. The log was a little wet, but a bit of a blow from the car's heating system sorted it out. TFTC
What a lovely sculpture. Cache had been moved slightly, but we returned it to its proper place. Nice camo job. TFTC
There were plenty of campers around, but all enjoying the view across the Firth while we fossicked. TFTC

A freezing morning in Rotorua. Spend a while walking round the lake and cracking ice on the puddles. Discovered, as we exited the car, well wrapped up, that we had brought everything but the GPS! Don't own a smart phone. Never mind - clues are helpful. Found the cache while keeping a good lookout for muggles who were everywhere. Signed log and added another couple of pieces of paper as the log was full. TFTC

Heading off to Mahurangi for the Easter Break, we saw there was a new cache on Saddle Island. Motored over from Sullivan's in our yacht "Pinball Wizard", and after Mr Wizard scrambled up the bank it wasn't long before he had the cache in his hands. The only other FTF we have earned is on neighbouring Moturekareka. Mr Wizard is a descendant of the Jamiesons of Mahurangi, so we are on familiar grounds round here. Left a little yacht. TFTC - it's been a while since we visited Saddle Island.
Up the bank for the long legged Mr Wizard, and he was spot on in finding the cache. Nice to find a good sized one! We left a little anchor and a couple of toys. Visiting with family, descendants of Thomas and Mary Jamieson of Mahurangi.

The path to this cache has slipped and the cache has twice disappeared, so we'll call it a day at this site. Watch out for our new one on Rakino soon.

Last time we were her, we could not find this cache. This time we found it o trouble - helps to look on the right side of the road! Left a bubble blower for junior cachers. TFTC
In 1966 my family took the ferry from Whitianga where we were staying in a rented bach. We walked to Cooks Beach and had a picnic lunch on the beach in front of the cache site. Mum and Dad left us there (in those days it wasn't child abuse to leave your children for a while!) and went to look at the sections for sale on Endeavour Place. By the time we got back to Auckland after our holiday, we owned a section (600 pounds purchase price). The bach came down prefabricated over the Tapu Rd (we believe it was the first to come by road - the materials for others were brought in by barge). Price for the shell only building was $1200. We were waiting in the queue on the day the "new" Kopu-Hikuai Rd was opened, and were one of the first cars to cross the peninsula by that route.
In 1978, my Mum extended it to two bedrooms and an indoor toilet!
My Mum is 86, and doesn't come as much. My siblings and I look after the bach and visit regularly as do our grown up children. In the past few years we have seen the fourth generation of our family enjoying Cooks Beach holidays.
Sitting at your cache site, enjoying the view, brought back a lot of memories of times at my favourite beach.
Thank you very much for the cache

Lovely place for a cache. Nice to see it was set by Rovers. Mrs Wizard was a Howick Rover many years ago. TFTC
My family have had a bach here for 49 years. This cache is very close to our walkway that we have used to access this beautiful beach for 49 years! TFTC.

Walking round this island on a hot sunny day. Anchored in Pipi Bay. Glorious! Left a Frisbee. TFTC
