Logs for Pochan

12-Mar-19
afternoon sunshine
settles gently on Lion Rock
and Shek Kip Mei Park

*What a glorious day!! Spotted the cache quickly and surprised that for the first time I really need to stretch! I shouldn't feel too guilty about hiding high caches anymore, lol. Logsheet is filling up fast, otherwise cache is in great shape. Watched the soccer players for awhile, but the two girls practicing their violins near the big tree was the main attraction. Thank you for bringing me here and giving me an excuse to stop working and enjoy some fresh air and sunshine:)

28-Aug-18
Oh yeah, beam me up, Scotty! Will attend!

11-Mar-18
cool wind
from a baby blue sky
run little doggies

*GPS was a little wonky, but the actual GZ wasn't hard to discern. Used to work in this area many years ago so it is familiar ground:) TFTC!!!

28-Feb-18
waving guards
last night of balmy February
with a smile

*I can't even remember how many times I've stood in that spot...waiting...waiting...waiting for the coast to be clear to grab this. But nope, always too many people nearby looking at me. I can't stand to show muggles what I'm doing, so I'd rather not get a cache if I people are looking. But finally, just finished the magnificent STAR WARS - A NEW HOPE in Concert next door (ahhhh, what life changing memory from 1977!!)...10:40pm OK, let's see if I can grab it this time unnoticed. And yeah, got it, signed and replaced this time without a soul noticing. Thanks KING for setting these caches up. TFTC!!

18-Nov-17
Ahhhh even after searching all four benches... nothing. Not having much luck today. But at least can listen to Clockenflap for free!

11-Nov-17
roaring
buses and planes
a smiley

*An old friend had a few hours of time in transit so after a delightful catch up over dim sum, popped over to pick up a Smiley before going home to Kowloon Bay. Must say this is definitely the replacement cache... no TB and actually no more container. Don't bother kneeling either. Bag is in bad shape as well. Though I love the idea of an airport cache, it seems the original CO isn't active anymore. Not really a good location, smack obvious in the middle of the road like that. The police van that drove by definitely gave me odd looks. But still a Smiley, thanks.

12-Oct-17
warm Autumn
evening traffic streams by
multi-cultural aliens

*Surprisingly quiet (except for road traffic) at 7:30 pm on a Thursday evening. Nope, that cool front STILL hasn't come through...I should stop looking at the HK Observatory for 'cooler' geocaching times! No problems finding the cache, don't you just love finding a cache with the first touch??? Thanks Kinglee for hiding a cache there. Thoroughly enjoyed the AURORA show at the Space Museum and found the cache while anti-geocaching wife was in the toilet! YAH!

06-Jun-17
humid dusk
one by one creative lights
go out

*Really enjoyed finding this place as I wouldn't mind taking some art classes for fun. Finding the cache itself is not difficult, especially if you re-read previous logs. And if you're careful, you don't need to get dirty fingers either! TFTC!

27-May-17
brilliant sunshine
throngs of tourists passing by
my 200th cache!

*Though only finding 1/3 caches today, the weather is just gorgeous and finally I got a cache before my time ran out! Log sheet is full, but still a couple spaces in the margin. Next cacher bring some paper please. TFTC Vistalia!!!

09-May-17
humid evening
people rushing by
Taikoo Dock

*You know what? After a year of Geocaching in Hong Kong, this is my first cache on Hong Kong Island...just realized that -- favourite pt!! Had a lovely gathering with HKU classmates at nearby 32F SUGAR and noticed a cache less than 500ft away. Now I couldn't go home without getting it, right??? TFTC Vistalia!!

18-Apr-17
quiet alley
the hot Hokitika sun hiding
mysterious shadows

*Our bus to Greymouth stopped in this delightful town for 30 minutes...what to do, what to do??? Of course I'm going to grab a cache and this was the closest one:) Sure hope I can come back to this spectacular country someday soon. TFTC!!!!

glowing mountain tops
cold wind off Lake Wakatipu
but warm heart

*What a glorious day! Could not ask for better weather. So grateful to have the chance to visit this magnificent country with my wife and elderly parents. This trip has been a dream come true for all of us. We came up to watch the spectacular sunset and on a sudden impulse, checked the geocaching app and there this earthcache was, just 100 feet away from the gift shop. I hurried back out in the dark and tried to figure out a few things;). I must say, Queenstown is such a gloriously beautiful city! TFTC!!!!

16-Apr-17
dark wind
carrying Lake Wakatipu
into my dreams

*Was having dinner at nearby Pier 19 restaurant (excellent Bluff oysters by the way) when I checked to see the nearest cache...Bing! Lucky me only 100 feet away from my table. Thank you for bringing me to this 'core'. It was a fascinating learn!

13-Apr-17
empty chairs
the cold rain falls
heedlessly

*What a sad, but poignant display. I was living in Taiwan during the great earthquake of 1999. It was horrifying. Easily the single most terrifying moment of my entire life. TFTC!!!

**Sad to say but the log is totally unusable now. Just a lumpy soggy mess. Photo log only now.

cold raindrops
staining the rusting girders
swelling heart

*I was living in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, working as an English teacher. Single parent and poor as church mouse, but grateful to have my 4 year old son and a job that I enjoyed in our newly adopted land. My desktop computer had died a few days before and finally that day my son and I rode our scooter into town to look for some parts. I was in the process of paying for the parts when the cashier told me in Chinese that my country was under attack. My Mandarin skills weren't very good so I was unsure if my interpretation was correct. Anyways we hurried home and I turned on CNN just in time to see the 2nd tower fall. Tears ran down my face in shock and horror as I held my little boy tightly. I could not sleep that night...just watched the news over and over. What a horrible feeling that day...I will never forget it. A month later my son and I flew home to Louisiana and had a layover in Newark. Foe the first time in my life, I saw actual soldiers in the airport and openly wept again with a big crowd of people at that big window looking across the harbor to Manhattan. There was still smoke rising....

rusty
proud in the cold rain
Christchurch Cathedral

*So sad to see such a noble and beautiful structure like this. Spoke with several locals today who just want something...anything to be done. Thank you for the cache. I am grateful to finally be able to visit this magnificent country!

Sorry, but absolutely no hint of where or what to look for.

merrily
the Avon River flows on
screaming zipline!

*No one paid any attention to me, despite the rain as big & little kids were having so much fun next door...I wanted to play too! TFTC!!

cold raindrops
splashing the gelato gorilla
salted caramel

*Amazing gelato and hot cross buns on this neat little shopping district. TFTC!

cold, wet afternoon
the Avon gurgles out to sea
rusty, but proud

*I am indeed grateful for so many noble firefighters who are willing to sacrifice their lives for my safety. More than worth a stroll in the cold rain! TFTC!

brown chestnuts
the green rain kissed grass
dampening shoes

*Love this place...collected a handful of chestnuts to take home with me to Hong Kong. No need to worry about customs, they won't take it away. TFTC!

12-Apr-17
damp chilly wind
full moon hiding away
lemon Mentos

*Yeah! Got one in Wellington at least. No problem finding it on such a wet night. Loved the cache! Thank you!

10-Apr-17
bright round moon
shimmering over Rotorua
ancestral waka

*TFTC!!! Ki ora from Hong Kong! So happy to get my first cache in this spectacular country. Was hoping to get one down at Hobbiton earlier today but nah, no signal there. Anyhoots, love this waka and this gorgeous evening and this country! I don't want to go home!!!

04-Jun-16
scented evening
signing the cache nearby
fresh doggy pile

*TFTC! Wish the local residents would use those conveniently located dog shit containers more often though.

03-Jun-16
excited voices
floating across the waves
night fishermen

*TFTC!

31-May-16
cooling breeze
construction trucks rumbling
shuddering bridge

*Best not to walk past all that construction if you're coming from Megabox way...at least not in the day time. But once you get to the bridge, the air clears up:) Thanks for the cache!

14-May-16
extrapolated the correct leg based on the hint, but nothing there. Searched every leg in fact and still nothing. Hard area to search cause everyone at the bus stop is staring in your direction for the incoming bus....

*Returned on June 3rd and laid to rest this pesky cache. TFTC!

once busy
Wan Po Road now silent
except crickets
