These sirens are located in different areas of Idaho Springs, Colorado. I have never heard these in operation, as I don't live in that area, but I looked closely and they were all connected to the electric lines at each location. They are located near old Fire Departments. There were no other types of sirens that I saw in the town.
This ad is located in Idaho Springs, Colorado. It was for Roburts Bros. Merctle. Co. Groceries, Hay and Grain. The current business listed Antiques but those stoves sure look like they are brand new to me.
Saw this one as we were driving west for a snowmobile ride up to the top of the Continental Divide. The ride was nice but we could only see about 15 ft. when we got there. Glad I saw this cache on the way. I have no information about it other than it is located in Emery, Colorado. It is also listed in the Georgetown, Idaho Springs Picture Map. But there was no information in that either.
These photos were taken in Idaho Springs, Colorado. Those darn shadows really make it hard to read the GPS. I thought it would be okay until I got home. I took many other GPS readings in the area and this location is in the Citizens' Park where the Momument is located. I check with some local people and they said that there was only one POW/MIA in the town and it was Donald E. Gunstrom, who was killed July 20th, 1950, in Korea.
This engine is located in Idaho Falls, CO. It is a narrow gauge engine, built in 1886, started its career on the Union Pacific owned narrow gauge Utah and Northern RR. The posted coordinates are corrected to the location of the engine. Information about the engine and its use is shown in the pictures.
I see both "Kroozer" and I were doing the same waterfall. I wonder how close we were to the same time? I took mine from the north side of the interstate and adjusted the coordinates to where I thought the water wheel was located. I also found a picture of what the mill looked like when it was in operation. The picture was taken at Clear Creek County, Colorado 1893. The other picture was taken at Bo Jeau's Pizza shop. As I was looking at the picture of the mill it looks like this other pulley, inside the Pizza shop, came from the same mill. It appears to be a pulley for belts. You also can see a steam power unit at the lower right of the mill picture.

This waterfall is located just south of Interstate 70, at Idaho Springs, Colorado. There is no place to park on that side of the interstate so I took the picture from the best/nearest location I could find. It has no name but one of the local people told me it is 161ft high. You can see running water near the top of the falls. It looks to many gallons/minute. The coordinates I listed are adjusted from the picture to put them near the bottom of the falls.
Spent the day touring Denver, Colorado when I spotted this sign. I thought I had logged it already but it appears that somehow it didn't go through. This entire area is suburban homes. All the names of these streets are Irish. How appropriate as I have Irish ancestors. I wasn't sure I would be able to get to log this one before the end of the year. Sorry to see this cache being archived. Larry

I was driving by the Lake County, Florida Fire Station today and the truck was parked outside with one of the firemen working on the gas powered saw. He was going to close the doors but I told him to keep them open. The saw case is on the ground and in the truck you can see generators, portapowers and a lot of other special equipment.
This was on private property at the back of the main house. It is a stand alone building and I couldn't figure out just what it was used for but you can see by the roof line that it is octagonal. It was starting to get dark when I saw it and got turned around to take the picture. I was surprised the pictures came out as clear as they did.
At the Eastern end of the Orange County line, on the R-T of the old CSX RR, there was a sign that the trail was ending. But, I noticed that another trail was across the street at a diagonal. The sign I am posting is at the start of this segment of the R-T on the Western side of Seminole County. I didn't have much time to hike but what I did see was very well maintained and in use by several groups of people and some on bikes.

I only found one Confederate Soldier buried in the TEMA Cemetery located in the Historic Settlement of TEMA, which is located to the north of Bushnell, Florida. This cemetery was built in 1882. Joseph B. Barron b.1826-d.1912. He belonged to CO B, 23 Regt., ALA. Inf. CSA.
This was originally the jail for the city of Coleman, Florida. It was built in 1913. It, along with several other structures of historical significance were moved to this location and put on display. Currently the doors can't be opened. There is no charge to view the village which contain a General Store, Jail, Railroad Depot, Outhouse and a too many more items and equipment to mention. The bad part of all this visit is that I had the pleasure of using most of the items, including a 2 holer in the middle of the winter in Ohio.
I rang the door bell. Knocked on the door. There were a lot of vehicles around the place but no response. I shot these from by the edge of the property. The entrance was at the back of the house. You can see the bunkers and I also saw a big stack of more of them off to the side. I am not a paintballer so I just shot pictures of what was available to me.
At 1st glance I thought this looked like a moose or a camel. I finallly decided it looks more like the donkey that is in the pasture across the street. Now I know what he is braying at all day and night. If you look close it also appears that the eye is part of another face looking the other way. Now look closely between the eye and mouth you will see another animal, sitting with its back to the camers in the hollow with its front legs on top of the nose, looking to the left. This rock is about 4 ft tall, 8 ft long and 2 ft wide.

I think this sign was painted by one of the high school graduates where they don't really teach math anymore. I know they can't do simple problems in their head but it looks like they don't know how to copy correctly either. At least the location was correct and matched the readings on my gps.

This Railroad Station is located in Coleman, Florida on Rte. 301. It was built 1 block north of it present location in 1895. It is now being used as part of an antique store. It is open to the public, at no charge, along with other historic buildings. The building was given to the City of Coleman. They moved it to the town dump and eventually it was moved to its present location.

This golf course, located near the Villages in Lady Lake, Florida, uses this large golfball sitting on a tee as their mailbox.

It was a good day. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the home game and I found this bridge. No plaques or info anywhere around the tell anything about this bridge.

Here is a little background on #6925. I believe the last time I was at the DSRC was in 1997. At that time I took off the top and cut panels out of the sides to be able to remove the water heaters and the generators. I welded plates, internally, onto the sides to allow putting it all back together. When it originally arrived in Chamberlain, there were no traction motors and the prime movers were not functional. We used it for parts. There was a construction crew repairing a bridge, in Chamberlain, and they brought their crane to lift off the top and side panels, remove the internal parts, and then put everything back in place. Prior to their arrival I had everything unbolted. Withing 4 hours we took it apart, transfered all the items to a semi and put the body back together. I did the dismantling on a siding on the west side of the station. The prime movers were sold and removed many years before I finished the salvage job. So much weight has been removed that the springs wouldn't compress,to keep the wheels in contact with the rail, which caused it to derail as we moved it out of that siding, and on to its final resting spot. Alex Huff, the owner, hopes it will someday end up on display somewhere.

With the name I am using I had to do a set that had a railroad theme. The 1st location is of an empty track next to the Dunellon, Florida RR Station and a building with an art picture of a train. The 2nd location, N28 52.040 W082 02.450. is in Wildwood, Florida along the CSX railroad that has a car "on the tracks". I decided to take one of a car that also had an artistic work painted on it. The 3rd location, N29 11.537 W082 08.155, is at the Ocala, FL RR station. It shows "construction equipment" that was removing several RR cars that wouldn't stay on the track.
