Logs for Ravakin

26-Jun-16
Checked in on this cache today and is still where it should be, dry, complete with trackable. Last log entry in March. Suggest that some geocachers are being stumped ;o)

10-Jan-15
Sorry if you missed this cache while I was providing some TLC to it.

Quick find with the kids while Mum took photos around the area.
TFTC!

05-Jan-12
After a family walk to the falls, Ravakin Junior and I headed for Duke Knobs where we successfully discovered this one. Certainly beautiful views!

04-Jan-12
Very pleasant hike through an area with a lot of interesting history. Very hot day (one of only a few so far this summer)so it was great to have Woolshed Stream so handy.

Cache found by Ravakin Junior. TFTC!

Fortunately an easy find as it was incredibly hot! Headed straight to Lake Heron for a paddle.
TFTC!

Was next on our to find list and nearly drove past on the way out! Fortunately the brain was in gear at the time. Easy find for Ravakin Jnr. TFTC!

25-May-11
A more user friendly spot than "Annies", I must say.
+ Fridge Magnet
- Coin

Nice spot! TFTC!

10-May-11
Delightful little hike into a well hidden piece of NZ nature.
TFTC!

26-Apr-11
Ended up at the right spot eventually, but then had to wait while another group completed their photo shoot. Meanwhile Mum was up at the carpark wondering where apprentice and I had got to - hands on hips when we got back! TFTC!

Another bridge with heaps of character and very photogenic.
Quick find on our way to Naseby. TFTC!

As good a spot as any for a cuppa. Dam was quiet today, no spilling.
+ fridge magnet
- ruler

22-Apr-11
Quick find with apprentice on quite a fresh day. TFTC!

Nice to see the road has been sealed since I was up here last.
Is certainly a 'top view' and a wise spot to place the cache considering the number of muggles taking advantage of the view! Really fresh wind on this day.

21-Apr-11
Stunning autumn morning and nobody else about - couldn't ask for more.
Certainly an impressive piece of engineering. TFTC!

This was my second visit to Benmore, but my first with my wife & 2 young boys and this time I could take my time & soak it all in, as well as do some geocaching! We were on a southern excursion for a week and after spending the night at Omarama we got away early and headed for Benmore. It was a beautiful autumn morning with cloud around the mountain tops and the sun making a welcome appearance to warm up what was a very fresh morning.
We were practically on our own apart from two other parties that we crossed paths with while there. The dam was quiet - not spilling, the water was that mirky blue/white colour and the lake was calm. We saw the road sweeper clear off some rock on the south side of the dam and there was one or two guys fishing near the crane area of the dam. We took heaps of photos in the area - it was especially photogenic with the autumn colours.

This cache was particularly badly surrounded by muggles, but took the risk with young apprentice and ended up not only with the cache, but meeting ridders76 also! TFTC!

Late afternoon walk on the edge of the lake and beautiful evening.
Sad that we only were able to stay the one night in Hawea.
TFTC.

Lots of muggles about today so have missed out on a few quick finds this trip. Managed to snaffle this one without any worries though. TFTC!

Luckily I had the apprentice with me as I thought the cache had gone 'walkabout'- the obvious spot was empty but he sniffed it out. Hawea is a lovely spot! TFTC.

20-Apr-11
First cache of our southern expedition. Lovely country down here!!
TFTC.

Getting late in the day, but in luck with the view and the cache!
TNLN. TFTC!

Last for the day and actually drove right by initially. Ended up taking the stairs Surprised(
Isn't water impressive when there is such a volume of it being channeled!!?

20-Feb-11
We love it out here...beautiful scenery and certainly quiet!
Kids loved it too, especially when there is a "treasure" to be found. Smile

01-Feb-11
Beautiful day today - far too nice to be working, however... Surprised

One of the more novel caches that I have found Surprised) TFTC.
BTW. Should it not be Buntings Creek?

Occassionally things work out - actually parked right beside it, but in such a way that the muggle present, having a break could not see what I was doing. TFTC.

I think this one has gone walkabout. Am fairly sure that I was looking in the right spot as it appeared that something had been sitting in the empty cavity.

Another cache on a beautiful Kaikoura day!! TFTC.

28-Jan-11
A quick stop-off on the way home. TFTC!

19-Jan-11
Wouldn't you know it - parked in the shade filling out the logbook and muggles turn up and proceed to have a picnic!
Managed to relocate the cache without arousing suspicion however Surprised)

03-Jan-11
One of a few caches we managed to fit into our xmas holiday to Nelson.
TFTC!

02-Jan-11
Found the cache first and then enjoyed a wander around the gardens. Highly recommend a visit here if you are green-fingered - quite beautiful!

Nice easy find for Ravakin Jnr.

First cache of the new year. Lovely stand of bush and lovely spot for a quiet cuppa!
TFTC!!

Enjoyable afternoon trying to work our way through the clues with constant chatter and questions from the youngins stalling our train of thought.
We got there in the end, although gps was misbehaving at the end.
TFTC!!

28-Dec-10
I can remember not that long ago having to wait at one end, sometimes for quite a while, until the road was clear before traversing the bumpy old bridge. I reckon you could count each plank!
Anyway, Ravakin Junior discovered this cache while we studied the history.
TFTC!

Have always wanted to stop and take a look at this old building, so enjoyed the stop on our family holiday to Nelson.
A good find for Ravakin Junior.

12-Sep-10
Nice to see a replacement to the cache that used to be in this vicinity. A spot well worth a visit.
TFTC!

Enjoy the views!

22-Aug-10
Only time for one hunt today. Neat hide! TFTC!!

15-Aug-10
It certainly has been a wet winter and "Polish Troll" is showing every sign of it - sopping wet! Cache needs serious tending as we couldn't even write in the log book.

This cache may have gone for a swim I think as this little stream has been a raging torrent on 2 or 3 occassions this winter. I believe that GZ has been under water judging by the "high tide" marks, or else the cache has been buried.

12-Aug-10
Had some time, so rather than drive past I went for a brisk walk instead - lucky I had read up on all recent new caches in the area!
Paid off with a FTF!!
Thoroughly recommend this one to those who enjoy nature walks and views [^]

08-May-10
Not as tricky as I imagined - although vehicles were regular, I think they were more interested in the stunning views than what we were doing.
+ Kids dart
- 2p

Lovely autumn day to be caching with family. Fairly quiet day for muggles too Surprised)
+ Fridge Magnet
- Bat
