Logs for ShamRider

Wow, the oldest cache in Arizona!! Another oldie under my belt! Great area for a desert hike in the middle of winter. The heavens threatened to open up and dump a few times during my jaunt, but I only felt a few sprinkles. The cache wasn't covered up at all, so I signed the log, grabbed a TB and discovered the others, and gave this one proper camo when I was done! Thanks for keeping this one alive and well for 16+ years!!

I was in town from Colorado getting some oddball difficulty/terrain and old caches. This one fit the latter bill! It took me a bit of time to locate the cache; it really shouldn't have! Thanks for keeping this one alive and well!

I met up with some members of Team DNF on a whirlwind journey to Nephi, Utah. We had three main goals and completed all of them with lots of caches in between. This cache was the first goal and it was achieved easily!! The first day of elk hunting kind-of threw us for a loop, but we pressed on up the mountain, hearing gunshots occasionally. We found the cache after a brief search and all signed the log on this historic hide! I dropped off a few travelers, hoping someone will come along before the snow sets in. Thanks for keeping this oldie but goodie cache alive and well all these years!

Dropping in some travelers.

Second day on my trip with Team DNF in the desert. We woke up to snow in Tonopah, so we quickly headed down in elevation to take advantage of better caching weather. Lots to see at this location! The owner was nice. TFTC.

I was out with 3 Geocachers today on a run to Kansas. Quick find in a clever spot! I didn't see any TBs or GCs in the cache. TFTC.

I was out with 3 Geocachers today on a run to Kansas. We encountered an unexpected surprise at this location. While 3 Geocachers was on the phone, I made the quick grab, signed the log, and returned the cache. I started admiring the structure and taking pictures when a gentleman from a nearby business came out and struck up a conversation and telling me about the history of the art piece. Turns out the Rotary Club (to which he is deeply involved in) commissioned the artist to bring this piece here. There are similar ones around the world (Japan, Australia, etc.). The significance is the Colby area is well-known for its sunflower seed production each year. August is the peak season for the sunflowers in the surrounding area. He seemed very interested in geocaching and wondered how many folks visit this site because of the geocache. We gave him some info on the hobby and hope he becomes "one of us" soon. Thanks for bringing us to this interesting site!
