Logs for SplattyNZ

13-Oct-21
Found by Mrs Splatty on a mission with TParty. Fancy not knowing who Dwayne Johnson is!

14-Oct-20
A nicely crafted cache in a quiet area. I trusted the GPS after initially considering it to be on the obvious structure.

The cloud prevented a sunset view however Indie and I enjoyed stretching our legs.

Thanks for the cache.

22-Aug-20
It's been a long time since I was last here. Mosh's successor, a retriever collie mix named Indie had a great run around the park here today and I checked on the cache. The trees and bush surrounding the tree that contains the cache have grown substantially, but I am pleased to report that the cache is in easy reach, is dry and ready for the next dog loving visitor!

Here's Indie. Smile

08-Jan-20
Whale Bay was pumping today. We saw the cache before reaching GZ, I suspect the flax mentioned in the description is long gone. Signed the log book and tried re-hiding a bit more under leaf and tree debris.

TFTC.

Relatively quick find thanks to hint. Found on a mini caching tour of Raglan. TFTC.

Pretty busy here today, saw cache and had to time the collection and later, the return so as to not arouse suspicion. TFTC.

A nice steep walk down to this cache from the street above, and the view at the lookout was fantastic.

The cache was in brilliant condition, I see it has only recently been replaced, certainly one for the kids if you are looking for a 'wow' stash.

TFTC.

Great park n find, and my favourite cache of the day. A brilliant design and a great spot to check out the coast. TFTC

First find for the day. Tftc

Once the phone's GPS settled it was a relatively quick find. Logbook signed, Mollies' treat recovered (probably not a good idea leaving food in caches as there is a stoat and rat issue around here) and view admired.

TFTC!

Our second cache for the day. The phone GPS was all over the place but we found the hint item and soon after, the cache. Not sure if the cache was in the right spot but replaced as found.

06-Jan-20
A quick find on what must have been one of the windiest days of the summer so far. Cache is in top condition, dry and well hidden. Took a travel bug to continue it's journey. Tftc

04-Jan-20
Found with a group of friends heading to the falls on an incredibly windy day. Easy to find and rehide.

03-Jan-20
Finally found The One! Thankfully it didn't take too long as the potential for a dnf was high.

15-Dec-19
Saw the new cache notification, and knowing that the cache owner was about to depart for the South I just had to shock geocaching.com and log a find.

Sunday morning after a street skate Mrs Splatty and I turned up at GZ , along with a carpark full of surfers who were there for the waves, which were pumping.

A quick reccy of the area and the obvious hiding spot was sighted, now the fun begins, these objects can be quite hard to search! After a few mins the cache was foud, now the question was whether to leave it in place or remove it, hoping to re-locate the attachment mechanism. The latter was chosen the log signed and the cache returned for the next person.

Thanks for the cache, I hope the student that placed it gets a buzz reading the logs and knowing that people are enjoying the placement.

10-Oct-19
We managed to get to the observation points between showers. Photos taken while trying to avoid selfie sticks!

Thanks for the chance to learn something about the area.

14-Sep-19
Opening up the area for someone else. Sorry it has taken me so long to action this, and thanks for the prompt, Troodles.

06-Feb-19
This one has been on my bucket list for a number of years now. Spending Waitangi day in Christchurch I managed to take a walk around the neighborhood and found this cache cleverly hidden in plain sight.

Tftc.

I agree with a previous logs that it's not the best of places, however I over thought the situation and spent a lot of time in the trees before deciding to inspect what turned out to be the most obvious place.

I guess if anything I have created a geotrail that might confuse future cachers lol.

26-Jan-19
Number two for the day. I wasn't too keen on the surrounding vegetation but geosense kicked in and cache was found without being attacked!

First find after dropping Mrs Splatty off at the end of the road to participate in the Tussock Traverse. Quick find. Tftc.

Found but unable to sign as logbook is pulp. Needs maintenance.

This geocacher reported that the logbook is full.

Nice short stroll after parking. Cache in good condition and found in the expected place!

Tftc

4th find for today. Parked right next to it and found thanks to the clue!

Tftc

Great cache, location and history lesson.

Tftc!

GPS was all over the place at first but lead me to the right place helped by the hint. Not many around which helped with retrieval and return. I see another cacher was here before me today.

Tftc.

I managed to make the walk in to the cache location far harder than it should have been but in the process managed to see a bit of the camping area and was impressed at the options.

Cache was found in great, dry and clean condition with some good swag. Thanks for bringing me here.

Great old building. Photo opportunity for sure! Found it in final corner to search...

Tftc

Pulled in to the parking area right behind another car that was just leaving. Without doubt they were cachers as there is really no other reason for stopping here but I couldn't identify the last log entry as the logs were on several pieces of paper. Oh well, easy cache and great view of the mountain Smile

Great place to visit for NZ movie history buffs! Some really old vehicles here.

Quick find whilst Mrs Splatty was stretching after finishing the Tussock Traverse.

What a mighty bridge! I muggled a cacher from overseas here and they said I was the first Kiwi cacher they had come across. I'm sorry but I didn't catch your name. Have a great time for the rest of your trip here in NZ.

This took me longer than it should have to find. But find it I did! Thanks for the Cache.

While Mrs Splatty is running the Tussock Traverse I'm Geocaching. Thanks for this virtual, I'm the only Geocaching related object I had on me!

08-Jan-19
The cache holder must be growing! Mosh sadly is no longer with us but I'll pop out and change the altitude soon. Thanks for the heads up, or in this case the hands up over your head!
Smile

07-Jan-19
This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

Found cache thanks to clue. Cache is saturated and unfortunately had nothing to replace log book with.

An impressive tree and nice walk. Tftc.

06-Jan-19
Quick find on an impressive trailer. Awesome waterfall up the road too.

TFTC - all well and in good condition.

Happy to report that the cache is in good order and found after hunting through the third cave we came across, and what turned out to be the easiest cave.

Phone GPS was hopeless here putting me 20m away from the cache.

31-Dec-18
It's been a long time between caches for me but today a group of us spent some time on the lake on paddleboards and kayaks. TNXPro and myself headed towards the cache and soon were deep in prime cache hiding territory. We spotted it fairly quickly and after some dexterous manoeuvres I had the cache in hand (well in my mind that's how it was, others may have witnessesed something that looked like a demented lion seal was about to fall off the paddleboard).

Thanks for the cache!

11-Nov-18
Once again a superb selection of interesting films! Thanks for organising the event TNXPro!

26-Oct-18

22-Oct-18
Found during a ride to check out the new bridge. Somewhat of a suprise when we found the cache! Just reward for Mrs Splatty looking where I was sure it wouldn't be. Replaced carefully as found.

Tftc.

09-Oct-18
This geocacher reported that the container is damaged.

Found on the ground and not sure cache was intact or where it should have been. Have retained cache and messaged McJandals.

19-Apr-18
Quick find whilst passing by. Cache is in good condition. Good camo that suits the location.
