This octopuses garden is closed for the season, but is an interesting place. It is located at 1st beach in Newport RI, and is special because they collect only native species to put on display. They have a touch tank and encourage children interactions. Usually have a "petting" shark too!

There really is a border marker there. Due to safety, it was not easy to get closer. The border is between Fall River Massachusetts and Tiverton Rhode Island. The granite marker is actually etched on 2 sides, MA and RI. Pictures are best I could do without getting run over, marker is in the middle of the hiway in the grass there. Thanks!

Well this one got me in a bit of hot water...took a picture and a Navy Security Officer came running out, "Hey you can't take pictures of a TORPEDO!!!" You better come with me. So Off i went. inside to the next level...Then the next...now I had 3 wet behind the ears officers wondering what to do with me...Then it was UPSTAIRS to see The head guy.....fortunatly he was wise to his years...he told the youngsters that it was OK, people do it all the time. I was free to go, close call! There was a second newer model there, but didn't risk another picture... Location was on the Navy Base in Newport Rhode Island.

How do you like a Firetruck on top of a building! This is a local landmark in Downtown Newport Rhode Island.
It is an old one, hope you enjoy it.

Yea OK its a horse, but has a buggy too! It is in a front yard in my town, and is on display, and gets decorated by the season. Lights on it now for Christmas! Hope you will allow it as the end comes near for locationless, I'll admit, I am doggin it for some last minute points, will understand if you say no...

Route 24 leaving Massachusetts, Entering Rhode Island, heading south.

The original one roomer in Portsmouth RI. Located next to the hysterical society on east main rd. and Union st. Although it was locked up today, it is open at times, I freeked when I looked inside, it is set up as a school room and there is a large man standing at the head of the class...wax figure??? Looked real!

Well it was originally an Opera house, now it is a movie theater. Still has some of the original charm.

Still used.....sometimes, Newport Rhode Island...Old Colony Railroad.

Located in Newport Rhode Island. Still used as a scenic tourist railroad, as well as a dinner train in the summer.

There are actually 2 machines at this location. Each machine has 4 choices of smashings! Usually the machines are outside, but now during the winter, they are inside. Smashed 2 pre 82 pennies which will be on their way! Location is Newport Scrimshaw...going out of business for at least the past 15 years! Newport RI!!!

The Old Colony House,as it is referred to, but was the State house. Newport Rhode Island. Used as a court house, a meeting house and everything official during its day. I have even been to an occaisional cocktail party there. Govenors of the state were also sworn in here for many years. Most other info is on plaque in picture! Placed on HR in 1962
thanks,

Many cool Topiaries at this location, The Green Animals in Portsmouth RI. The one I liked best is the elephant, just love the animals, and here is one living right in my home town! Another picture included for GPS proof

FireHouse #1 Newport RI. Here is an old one for ya. Now being used as office space....years ago, I worked on some cars being stored in the lower level...

Purgatory Chasm in Middletown RI. A great place to take a leap, if the fall don't kill ya, the waves bashing you against the rocks will! Rumor has it that some sap actually took the leap here!

Eastons Beach, Newport Rhode Island. The beach huts have been rebuilt and raised...and upgraded a bit, but they are still used as beach huts!

If you look hard, you can see marker stones back there in the brambles...Rose Hill Road, Peacedale RI

Dressed up as santa this time of year. These are locally know as the Eustis Ave Giraffs! They are permanent, have been there for years! Hope they measure up!

This spectacular view is from atop Miantinomi Tower. I maintain a cache at this location. The tower is a memorial tower now, and the site is rich in history. The hill used to be called beacon hill and was used by the indians long before the tower was erected. The tower can be seen for miles around, and at this point in its life it is only open to the public on Veterans Day, and Memorial Day. In the picture which is looking southerly out of Newport, to the right is Point Judith, and straight out is Block Island. This pictue was taken last Veterans day as I was there on a maintainence visit to the cache.
Thanks!

A very cool 4 arm windmill on Historic Conanicut Island, Jamestown, Rhode Island. It is also a first stage of my Windmill cache in the area that also take you by a 5 arm and a very rare 8 arm model!
