Logs for TeamMCH

One does not have to be caching before very long before one begins to hear whispers of "Mingo."

This cache has been on my radar for nearly six years! The closest I have ever come was flying over Kansas on my way west - or when I have been visiting Denver. When TeamMCH decided to spend some time this summer in front range area of Colorado - and decided to drive from our home in Indianapolis - I finally had my opportunity to snag the oldest active geocache!

We spent the night in Topeka and then set the GPS to Mingo. As I pulled off the Interstate and looked in the direction I knew the cache to be, I chuckled out loud at the very obvious geotrail! Many of my Indy friends have visited here, so as I stood at the site, I snapped a photo toward the Interstate and posted it on our Indy Area Geocachers Facebook page asking if anyone recognized the view.

We signed the log and retrieved a TB. Before returning the container, C took a photo of M and H holding the cache. Kansas is now added to our geocaching map - with a new oldest find to boot! A favorite point for sure!

This is find #1957 for TeamMCH and I logged it at 2:25 PM EDT. Thanks for the cache, Kansas Stasher!

I am working on a challenge cache near home in Indianapolis (GC39FPX) http://coord.info/GC39FPX to log as many non-traditional caches as possible in a 30-day period. I had great intentions of racking up a bunch of caches over the holidays, but the snowstorm has really thrown a wrench into my plans. So I have had to be very selective about which caches to pursue in order to maximize the probability of making a find. Today we decided to venture down to Louisville to do some shopping - and were happy to see no snow! We lived in Louisville from 1990-94 and have fond memories of this area.

After doing a couple of caches over on Frankfort Ave, we headed to Cave Hill. From 1991-94, we lived in the next to last house at the end of Highland Avenue - so we could see across the wall into the cemetery. And as a pastor, I performed a number of funerals in here. This is a beautiful cemetery, but especially in the spring when all the trees are flowering. Thanks for bringing us back here with this series of Earthcaches!

This was the 9th cache of the 10 total we found for the day - and the last of the Earthcaches. After taking care of business at Walton's Spring at Cave Hill EC, this was the next cache on our radar. It took us 5 minutes between finds.

Cemetery security came by as I finished this one up to warn me that they would be closing up in 12 minutes. This was another very peaceful area in a corner of the cemetery I had not frequented.

The next cache in our sights was Giving it your all - literally ver 2.0.

This is find #924 for TeamMCH. Thanks for the cache, AirRaidFan!

This was the 8th cache of the 10 total we found for the day. After taking care of business at The Spring, this was the next cache on our radar. It took us 23 minutes between finds as I stopped to pick up the coordinates for a puzzle on the way over here.

I followed the trail to the spring itself. It does not appear to be putting out much water right now. I stepped down into the depression to take a photo of our GPSr on a rock.

The next cache in our sights was Cave Hill Twin Lake Spring EC.

This is find #923 for TeamMCH. Thanks for the cache, AirRaidFan!

First of our caches while vacationing at Disney World. I had given up hope of making our 100 days in a row streak until I realized how many virtual caches were available here plus a few a fire stations on Disney property. Thanks for placing this one so that we can keep our streak going.

Editing to visit a TB that visits our favorited caches.
