Found the cache with my 2 daughters and Barney our labradoodle on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Unfortunately the cache was full of water but log book was still dry. Drained all the water out, removed anything that was waterlogged/damaged, signed the log book and returned the cache. Continued on exploring this magnificent coastline before returning back to our camp nearby for a glorious sunset.

After having a break from geocaching we have returned with a ****FTF****.

We made the short walk into Coppin Gap and then had a look around GZ and quickly had the cache in hand.

Took nothing and left a small sheet of stickers.

As we were staying in the nearby caravan park we made the short trek up the path, past "Heaven" to make an easy find. We returned to walk the length of "Heaven" and crawl out the end. I think the days of exploring "Hell" are over due to thick blackberries and water level.

Quick find after a short walk to the cache. Looks to have been quite a small shelter. TFTC

Found after walking around the building. Interesting piece of yesteryear building design. TFTC

Found while staying in the nearby caravan park. Interesting read about miners rights in the early days. TFTC

27-Sep-11
Found while exploring the area as we were waiting on a part to repair our camper trailer. Ended up returning the following night and staying at the nearby caravan park. While the park was fairly basic when we stayed there it has brilliant views, beachside camping, grassy camp spots with shade, power, drinking water, toilets, showers and washing machines. Highly recommend it for anyone who wants a quite place to camp. Also took my 6 yo daughter down to the nearby point to fish off the rocks and caught a nice queenfish.

Found with T.Trudi and the rest of our crew as part of our trip to Cape York. Wind was blowing approx. 30-40 knots which was a continuing theme while we stayed the following 3 nights at Cape Melville.

Found with T.Trudi as we headed north on our Cape York Adventure. Definitely worth a stop to let the kids play on an unusual "Bucket". Took some happy snaps but don't want to spoil it for others.

Found with T.Trudi as we headed towards Charters Towers as part of our Cape York Adventure. We took the detour just to be safe so never saw the cracks in the road!

Happy to say myself and T.Trudi found the cache and it is alive and well. Found it about 2m from what we assume to be it's intended location. The lid was off and the contents spread about. Everything including the log was ok. Signed the log, re-assembled the cache and left where our GPS (and hint) indicates it should be.

Found with T.Trudi on our way north to Cape York. Easy find which hopefully will avoid being muggled as it was a little obvious. Tried to cover as best as we could.

Found with T.Trudi while camping for the weekend at nearby Kelly's Lane. Parked at the end of track and headed off for the cache. Got a little confused due to 2 different coloured ribbons marking the walking track but go there in the end and the cache was located reasonably quickly. Completed the return walk in just under an hour and the views were certainly worth the walk.

TFTC and apologies for delay in logging our find.

Found with T.Trudi while on a weekend camping trip in nearby Kelly's Lane. Managed to drive up the old overgrown 4WD track, parked at the intersection of McMillans Walking Track and walked the rest of the way. Brilliant views on a clear winter's day.

Searched for nearly 20 mins with T.Trudi as part of our high country tour but no luck for us today. Performed a fair bit of gardening around GZ due to long grass but this micro avoided us this time. Will look again if we pass through this way in the future. Unfortunately King Billy Track was closed so had to head down Brocks Road and take the long way over to Butcher Country Track on the Macalister River.

Found the hut ok but after doing the maths and calculating the GZ decided against going further into the bush to search for the cache as I had some inappropriate footwear on and had already killed a black snake in our campsite at Tobacco Flat the day before.

Thanks for the visit to hut I hadn't seen before.

Found @ 1500 with T.Trudi on our high country tour. Kids enjoyed checking out the tree and T.Trudi got some pics.

The industrial dispute between Silcar & the AMWU has finally been resolved with the mechanical trades returning back to work on Monday. The picket camps have all been packed up so after a quick check this cache should be ok to re-enable.

Cheers.

Found @ 1000 with both my daughters on an extremely cold and windy day. Remembered the camera but forget to check if there was a memory card in it which there wasn't so no photo at this stage. The water is nearly 100% as the waves were splashing over the spillway wall so won't be long and the spillway will be in full flow. Next time I go to my father-inlaws in Erica I'll grab a pic and change my log accordingly.

Second of 6 finds on a wet and miserable day @ 1140 after a brief search. Log sheet still damp so had to be extremely careful when returning it into the cache. Could do with a replacement log sheet.

Also need to add that this was find 500 for me, a minor milestone!

Might pay to temporarily de-activate this geocache as the Australian Metal Workers Union (mechanical trades) onsite at BlueScope Steel have begun strike action against their employer (Silcar) for better worker's rights and conditions. This involves manning 4 gates of BlueScope Steel to show workers are united in their fight. One gate happens to be where the geocache is located and it will be manned 24/7 from 1000hrs today until the dispute is resolved. I am one of these workers but will not be at this gate. I will post up a note when the dispute has been resolved.

Cheers, Shane.
