What a fantastic walk. 6 Adults and 8 kids (all under 12) trekked up after a great chairlift ride. Plenty of muggles at the top and no surprise there. Had to keep some very excited kids under control as they searched with loud voices. Had almost given up when we read of the persistence shown by TankEngine and others to find this cache. Eventually one of the 8yo boys spied it and exclaimed loudly. We had to "induct-in-the-field" a curious couple that had come to have a look. They have sworn to sign up to geocaching and not be muggles any more. They were quite taken with the thorough enjoyment the kids had shown for this great cache.

Thanks to some other random muggles that happened to have a pen, without which we would have been stuck. 6 telephones, 4 cameras, GPS units, radios, binocs, food, water, sunscreen and everything else....but not writing sticks in our bag.

On a related note, we remembered to get the 8yo to turn off his head mounted GoPro while searching.....but he accidently kept it on while going to the toilet! Warning to all gopro owners!

thanks for a great cache, we took the DefCon coin and will pass it on dutifully. we noted how hard it must be to keep this cache maintained - so well done RustyMac.

top find by the 5yo in our team....always brings a smile when she finds it instead of the big kids!

good one again thanks Sol, enjoyed the brief walk and the good view of this lovely part of Namadgi.

thanks Noikmaster as well for the day of caching.

cheers

Thanks Noikmeister for helping us get to this one....and for giving us the pathtag.

Good cache to remember what it must havbe been like to have lived back in the early days. Hard to make out the bui8lding, but looks like the remains of a fireplace are still there.

good one Sol.

What a great caching day!

Made a hike to this one as part of a group of 15. Well organised by Noikmeister to get 4 families all there to hike/picnic and cache together. Little ones skipped along the paths and the bigger ones all climbed the rocks on the way.

Saw plenty of wildlife and some really great views on the way. We stopped at the viewing platform for a stretch of the legs.

Well hidden cache taking us to a couple of spots that really are out-of-the-way otherwise. Great way to bring some history to life, had the 7yo asking me all about "rural life in the old days before elec, sewers and piped water". top eye-opener for him.

Had some newbies along with us, including an 11yo and his granddad - by all reports they will soon be caching their way around the place together.
Good spot to stop and have a picnic lunch as well, we were able to leave with all our rubbish of course, but it wasn't too heavy going in.

Left a couple of little swaps in the cache, 7yo thought that a Doctor Who swap is a good one for a cache named Wander back in Time.

Recommend this cache as a good walking one even with kids. My 5yo and 7yo had absolutely no troubles at all with the approx. 11kms round trip.

Thanks Winglen and especially to Noikmeister for getting us along to this one.

Really great to meet the GeoJunkies....and we were "comfortable in the presence" of TheMadKats.

Great find with the eldest of TheMeddlingKids using this as a way to show her grandparents how to geocache.

Perfect example of a cache, grandad used his new GPS after granddaughter showed him how to hook it up to geocaching.com and then they started out with grandma as well. Maybe a good way to have some new cachers sign up!

loved finding this one after a fantastic afternoon flying kites in the arboretum amphitheatre.

the puzzle and description are quite well put together and caused us to really examine the Eagle. Great bit of work that.

lovely view of course and yet again thanks to TankEngine.

Found it without too much trouble and trapsed all 6 of us to find it.

Love finding a geocache in one of my fave places in the world. Was here fishing with TheMadkats and this was a perfect find during our coffee break. Lots of muggles cause of the local rowing regatta. Explained geocaching to the family that owns the local sports shop...hopefully they will encourage more people to do geocaching. Had to borrow their pen and they saw the micro log paper and offered me larger paper to write on. TFTC.

easy one to enjoy while visiting friends that just built a house in this fantastic spot.

Good cache spot and a reminder of days gone by and "the sense of empire" around during those times.

btw- log is very, very wet and probably needs replacing. Sorry I didn't have a spare with me at the time. Ill check it next time Im out there

great spot for a cache and a pleasant find during floriade.

Was quite difficult with the number of muggles around....and looked like some other cachers right around this spot as well.

TheMeddlingKids had a visiting muggle with us today (a mud-blood). She got a real kick out of seeing geocaching done. Hopefully this cache will have helped create a new caching family

Great spring day in Canberra.

Thanks very much for this cache, it caused us to look and learn a lot about the places where we spend a lot of time. Excellent outcome, and the U10s amongst us learnt heaps.

I don't think I had ever looked at the DJs entrance and looked up. One of us has been coming here for almost 40 years.

good hide as well, excellent warning about the muggles.

we left a PathTag number 999999 from Wing6Rider. Don't know how to do this yet, so off to their webpage to sort it out.

found after a great fathers day ride aroudn the lake.

Another cacher right nearby enjoying the day like we were - love it.

Thanks for this one.

fantastic way to get this persons contributions into the minds of the geokids.

great hide, but beware of muggles.

thnaks for taking us to this excellent spot remembering this remarkable man. Im sure he would have been a cacher.

nice one wing6rider.

Had to explain to a young muggle family all about geocaching. They were then distracted enough to move out of the GZ. Absolutely no chance of getting it while one of this family remained.

Then we introduced them to this activity as thye had young kids...we used this cache as an example - swore them to secrecy....

nice spot to get to - beware of muggles.

Great fathers day ride for two families. Found this with the help of MadKats.
we parked at commonwealth park and rode along to this one - really easy with 2x4yo, 6yo, 8yo and 10 yo

nice easy find, but the log book is soaked and isnt really useable. I didnt have a spare to leave sorry. Person before us seems to have changed the bag.

cheers for this cache

Easy find but had to look out for muggles everywhere.

This cache provided a great excuse to get the family to the new/improved Fadden pines park. It was a short walk to find the cache - geomum stayed with the little ones while geodad and the eldest went for a geo-hunt.
We used the Garmin Rinos and kept in touch leaving one behind with the kids at the swings. Worked well - good bit of gear.
There were some small toys in the cache, we took nothing and left nothing.

Nice hide and thanks for the cache

Finally found it, thanks for repairing it.

Provided a nice public holiday excuse for a bike ride and managed to do a 10km round trip with some good hills.

There were a couple of muggles coming past, so had to be "repairing the bike" so as not to look too suspicious. Probably looked suspicious anyway.

Thanks again for this puzzle, it certainly had us stumped for a while.

cheers

took ages for us to nut out the puzzle, we think we have it right but cant find the cache. The last couple of logs show "didnt find" so hope this one can get repaired.

If we have the puzzle wrong, that is fine as well - we will go back to our thinking chairs and try to work it out.

Did this one ages ago but didn't manage to get the phone-app to log the find.

Great puzzle on this one, thanks Noik. We learnt a lot about an area we live in and it does make you think of what more is around that you haven't thought about.)

Had to revisit the log in August 2012 to find the day we originally found it. There was some sort of Orienteering thing going on with a stop right next the GZ. One of the geokids labelled the orienteers as "...crazy, they could just do geocaching and have a lot more fun than running around trying to read a map".

Thanks NorkMeister.

Great hike up here with a couple of 9 year olds. We were very wary of snakes so we took it very slow. Lovely to see the number of roos and really awesome to see the views. Big storm came in from the Brindabellas and we had a great light show to watch.

Tnln, but thanks for putting a cache in a great spot

Great hike up here after parking in Fadden. What magnificent views of the valley and all the way to queanbeyan, black mountain and beyond.

saw some roos and thanksfully no snakes.

thanks for a great hike cache.

Excellent cache...managed to do this one with the 10 yo and we used our bikesthe whole way. Got to GZwithout crossing any roads...loveCanberra bikepaths. Almost had a problem when the rear bike brakes gave out after WP1...but we soldiered on. Pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon
Great effort by Tankengine and thanks for getting the repair done
Took two of the travelling tags and left some trinkets.

30-Jan-12
Took a 5 km round trip to do this cache...no small feat with 3 adults and 8 kids from 3 yo to 7. Phew. Good spot to put one and found it with no trouble....dint take the kids ther though fearing snakes. Fantastic beach and thanks for the info about a movie filmed here? Took nothink left a little toy tiger and a trackable

Trapsed with 8 little kids along the beach to find this one....saw a dead crab, a bloke pulling worms out of the sand, some folk canoodling and some lovely views. Its good to do the Memories cache after doing this one...very pleasant walk. Thanks to the kids for finding a washed up coconut andcarrying it all the way back

22-Jan-12
Hunted around for this for a while and took some trash out of the way. couldnt find it even when resorting to the hint. Wont be back here for a while, so hopefully it can be found before I return and I can log it then.
Great view of the gliders and the tug-plane as well.

Last of our caches after a fantastic fishing visit to this area. Easy find when we kept our eyes peeled. Havent found out about the street name, but will keep searching.

I ran interference while my fishing companion snatched this one up. Early morning is best to avoid the muggles.
We sharpened the pencil in this one Smile Classic spot for a cache - thanks Annie and PB

classic, hunted for ages for this one before reading the logs and noticing the huge rolls of hay recently put near the post....then it was a bit easier.

HAd to avoid some muggles in the general area wanting to know why we were stopped.

Also went on to have a great afternoon fishing the Hak!

Thanks again Bitsprayer

20-Jan-12
Great park and grab this one. We had spent the day fishing this fantastic space and thought we would collect this one on the way back. Easy hide but a great spot for a cache as it makes people stop and look around.
Nice one again Bitsprayer.

18-Jan-12
Great spot for a cache. We saw some awesome trout here and hooked a couple as well, when the wind got to heavy to throw flies around we looked on the GPS for the nearest cache....we were impressed to see 21 meters away!. Great spot and found this one with a first time cacher as well.

TFTC Bitsprayer - we found a few of yours on this trip.

15-Jan-12
Second trip to find this tricky one. Managed to find it using some geotools we have in our geokit. Good warnings on spiders in the logs, and Ill add that there is plenty of broken glass etc around the place so geokids watch out.

Glad to have knocked this one over and we spent the car trip home trying to work out how it was placed so well - nice work Tank!

05-Jan-12
Great spot for a cache with very many muggles. Nice excuse to have an ice cream and a coffee after a swim and sendthe geograndmother with the geokids and the GPS to stealthily make the retrieve. Then we had to wait 30 minutes for all the traffic to clear to be able to replace. Just when the coast was clear some muggles stopped to take photos within 5 meters of the GZ.
Took the little tiger, left a chinese square hole coin and a chess pawn. Also left a geocoin that needs to be helped on its way.

nice quick one while visiting Perth. 1130 on a Sunday had hardly any muggles around and I had a mate with me for distraction.

didnt have a pen, so I will be back to sign it tomorrow.

tftc

eventually found this elusive one. The GPS had us within 1 metre of GZ with an estimated 2 metre accuracy. We couldnt find it anywhere. Eventually found it about 6 metres away in the same general hiding place.
It had a pencil included (thanks to whomever did this). We signed the log and put it back where the GPS told us to.
8am on a Sunday is a good time for this one with no muggles around. We also got some good photos of the baby ducks.

Great one to look for while waiting for a ferry. Had some muggles around and accidently had one of the log papers blow away through a locked gate. Was able to retrieve it by stretching an arm through...or could have just walked around the shop to get there. If any muggles did see us, they would have laughed. Was also able to take awesome photos here of some local porpoises. Tftfc

Woo hoo...found after a long hike with my muggle mate. Tftc, great to have one in this iconic place.

16-Nov-11
Just happened to look on my phone for a cache while walking to my hotel. Plenty of muggles around but the darkness helped me not look too dodgy. Tftc
The logbook is full on this one.
