Logs for TheView

15-Oct-20
Wow! I don’t know how long this has been in the To Do list but finally after many trips to Arkansas but just too far, we finally found Gorilla Stash. But on this trip, although a 95 mile round trip, I was determined to get the Smilie.
I talked with the wife of the CO and she said they had to get approval to relocate the container. My previous personal note no longer was needed which indicated a combination was necessary.
Drop a bottle holder but took nothing. Did not see any Travel Bugs.
I asked the wife if she would take a photo of me and our Basset Hound Mabel and she did. Thanks to the CO for keeping it active in spite of having to get permission to relocate. Favorite. SL TheView, Canton, Ohio.

No Panthers, no alligators, no boars, no deers, three mosquitoes, two birds and one Buzzard on the way to GZ. TEMP in the 60s and dry with a slight breeze. I had contacted the CO the evening before to discuss the geocache and it was just as she explained. Dry so nothing like some of the previous photos. ATV ruts in the low areas so bikers should be aware of the ruts if it is flooded. I quickly found the container having excellent coords for GZ. With Mrs TheView waiting for me in the motorhome, I took the shorter path back to the park area. On the way I met three muggles, two men and one lady, who were from my home State Ohio. Them Cincinnati, Us Canton. The two men were being attacked by the blood suckers so I offered and they accepted my bug spray. Briefly chatted and then continued on my way. Reached the car and called the Park Ranger to let them I had exited the Trail and was leaving the Park. They appreciated letting them know. I dropped TB Darling Dory which wants to be close to water. Gets a Favorite for status and for the COs who have kept it active. SL TheView

?????????? Got it.
Perfect day for anything but especially walking a nice trail for a special geocache and surely this is one of them. As a matter of fact there are only 50 similar caches in the U.S.A. because there is only one oldest in each state. We wouldn't be in the area had our motorhome not developed transmission problems and the nearest dealer that could analyze and make the necessary repairs is in Naples. So we were towed from Punta Gorda to Naples, Fl Mercedes Dealer. Got it fixed left for points east and another more serious problem occurred. We were 50 miles north on I-75 when we decided to replace our motorhome transmission back in Naples. Five business days to get a new one from New Jersey.
And now for the Geocache.
I left Mrs TheView just north of Naples to do some shopping while I went for the the oldest in Fl this morning before we left and realized we had the more serious problem. Finding this was the fun part of the day so it offset our motorhome problem. Obtained a permit to Trail Hike as instructed in the Description and free of charge. Then off to the trailhead. Muggles went ahead of me but I, in short tme, passed them just after the fork. See p2.

With PWNC and my family finding some Island caches. Another friend from Ohio also found this cache just after us. Lake Lanier water level Is high so a boat is necessary for all Island caches now. This cache is special because it completed my four grids with two each for one of boo2391 challenge caches.
These oldies, like this one, are becoming hard to find. Thanks for keeping it intact and the fun hide. Cache in good shape. Gets a Favorite. SL TheView.

Sadly this cache is not child friendly due to copious amounts of gross trucker garbage. Quick find. Cache is in good condition. Took Munster TB since we are headed to Dallas. SL TFTC

Didn't see any TBs.
Nice hide but it was a quick
Find for the Smiley. We apreciate putting caches out on major highways with easy access to cache. Parked in our RV and tow car within 200 ft of cache while on our way to Cattleman's Steakhouse at Fabens Tx. The owners allow you to park overnight free but expect partaking at the family style restaurant which we will do tonight. 20-40 mph gusts with temps in the high 30s. SL TheView

Nice hide but we have found this quickly for the Smiley. We appreciate COs putting caches out on major highways with easy access to cache. I couldn't see it but my cold fingers found it. Parked in our RV and tow car within 300+ ft of cache while on our way to Cattleman's Steakhouse at Fabens Tx. The owners allow you to park overnight free but expect partaking at the family style restaurant which we will do tonight. 20-40 mph gusts with temps in the high 30s. SL TheView

Forgot to note that this nice TB came with us to AZ's oldest cache.

Came out this way to log this cache and accomplished the mission. We got the permit and code for the lock at the gate, so we were able to drive within 0.56 mile of the cache. Nice hike in the desert terrain. Some gorgeous specimens of saguaro on the way. SL. Thanks for keeping this one in play for all these years.
