I don’t mind DNFs; they’re part of the game! This one though was particularly frustrating as I’d travelled half way around the world to get it! It was only about 1200m from our cruise ship, though that only told half the story! We were in a working port so had to take a shuttle bus into town. I managed to get a kindly driver to drop me off outside the port after we’d looked around Newcastle from where it was about a 20 minute walk to ground zero! The coordinates were spot on; the hint item was clear to see, but sadly there was no sign of a cache. Back to the (unofficial) drop off point where the same driver picked me up and took me back into town and back to the ship! All good fun but rather frustrating!
I’d never done an adventure trail before so this one took my fancy. Spotting where the coordinates for this one was and that the waypoints took me in the opposite direction I thought I’d be smart and find it first. If that failed it wouldn’t have been the end of the world if I didn’t finish the trail. The description implying that it was possible to find the cache without doing the trail led me to that incorrect conclusion!
Anyway, it was a very enjoyable tour leading me to the final coordinates and a pretty quick find at ground zero once Mrs.T.A. spotted the hint item. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Newcastle upon Tyne, England!

We’ve just sailed through the Doubtful Sound on our lovely cruise ship the Celebrity Solstice, and we’ve had an excellent naturalist giving us a running commentary pointing out lots of interesting features and giving us lots of really interesting information. I hadn’t realised, for instance, that the top layer of water in there is fresh water!
We were lucky enough to be on the helipad right at the front of the ship as we passed by ground zero so was able to get loads of great shots; I’ve attached a few.
What an excellent Earthcache, in a beautiful place definitely worth a favourite point. Thanks.

We did the Taieri Gorge train ride from our cruise ship and what a splendid journey it was. Once we stopped at Pukerangi Mrs.T.A. asked if there was a cache up there? I tuned on my data roaming and bingo; there was indeed. A nice quick find. Thanks for the cache.

We’d been on a lovely bike ride down to the coastal wineries and when we got back I just had enough time to pop up and grab this virtual before getting back on board our cruise ship. We really enjoyed our stop in Napier though; another beautiful place. Thanks for the virtual cache, one of my favourite types.
We arrived in Napier this morning on board the Celebrity Solstice and went for a lovely bike ride down the coast to a few wineries. It didn’t look like I was going to be able to grab a cache back in town before getting back on board so I nabbed this one instead. The stuffing’s been knocked out of Harold a bit! Thanks for the cache and greetings from the UK.
Solved the sudoku, found the sign, did the projection but couldn’t find it. There was no shortage of rocks but nothing matching the second clue that I could see.

We arrived in Picton on board the Celebrity Solstice; and what a beautiful approach it was too. Once docked we went on a wine tasting tour in Marlborough. On the way back to the ship I stopped to have a look round Picton and of course to grab a quick cache. This one was a nice straight forward multi, just how I like them. My first cache in New Zealand and the 73rd different country for me. Thanks for the cache and greetings from England.

We decided to grab this nearby Earthcache before boarding our ship, the Celebrity Solstice for Christmas and New Year cruise to New Zealand. I’ve sent the answers as requested which I hope are ok. Thanks for the Earthcache.

Mrs.T.A. wanted to have some retail therapy so it was a perfect opportunity for me to go and grab a couple of caches. I don’t do many traditional caches these days but this one filled the last gap in the 4th loop of my DT Grid so a worthy exception. Once I’d worked out how to cross the road the challenge began! I certainly wouldn’t fancy trying it when it was wet! It was challenging enough anyway especially the route I took getting up. Fortunately the alternative one coming back down was much easier and I returned to the car safe, sound and happy. Thanks for the cache and have a favourite point for the excellent challenge and container!
I like collecting the oldest caches in countries so when I spotted this one I had to come and get it. It was one of 4 ‘special’ ones I’ve found this morning on a very successful trip. The track around ground zero isn’t too obvious but Ive sent my best answers to the c.o. which I hope are satisfactory. Thanks for keeping this virtual alive. I love them, especially special ones like this!
I’ve just noticed this is the oldest cache I’ve ever found and fills one of my last three missing months so a favourite point is definitely in order!

I needed this Wherigo for a challenge but after just two stages I had already got two answers wrong! I decided to start again which was a good thing. There has been quite a bit of change of use on some of these pitches since the Whetrgo was set and as a result some of the answers are now incorrect. You need to use a bit of imagination for these. Nonetheless I got to the end but finding it took rather longer than I’d hoped. I looked everywhere within 5 metres of ground zero without success but once I expanded my search somewhat I finally spotted it. It’s in excellent condition. Thanks for the cache and greetings from the UZ.
We were in Sydney for a few days before going in a cruise and Mrs.T.A. wanted a bit of retail therapy! A perfect opportunity then to grab a few special caches. I don’t do too many traditional caches these days and now have their ratio of my finds down to less than 30% but this one was one of only 4 2000/2001 months missing from my Jasmer grid so it had to be done. My satnav tried to have me park on the motorway so it took me a bit longer than it should have to reach a decent parking area. A quick find at ground zero, though I wouldn’t fancy it in the wet. I picked up a travel bug which I’ll move along in due course. Thanks for keeping this oldie going, and greetings from the UK.

We did a land and sea day tour today and our afternoon Sydney Harbour cruise passed Fort Denison both ways! I’ve attached a selfie going out and a photo of a cruise ship going close by when we were coming back. Neither photo has my gps in it because I only cache using an iPhone which is of course my camera too. I do like a good virtual though and this particular one had a DT rating that was one of only two I’m missing for my 4th loop so all is good. I’m hoping to complete it tomorrow! Thanks for the virtual, one of my favourite types and greetings from the U.K.
Today we were doing a full day land and sea tour; rather strangely though both tours took us to ground zero for this excellent Earthcache. When I’d gathered the information to send I was surprised to see that the c.o. was Ellie&Rudi Mentry, as the last Earthcache I did owned by them was in Montevideo, Uruguay!! My word, they get around as much as we do! This is another excellent example of geology in action and well worth a favourite point! I’ve attached a few photos, hopefully without giving too much away! Thanks for another excellent Earthcache!

Our first full day in Sydney and time for some exploring. The Wild Life Zoo was a 15 minute walk from the hotel so we headed there after breakfast. A quick spot of lunch followed by this nice little multi, before the Aquarium and an afternoon drink. A great day actually. The multi was nice and straightforward, just how I like them and a quick find at ground zero. It’s no longer magnetic but that really doesn’t matter. I dropped a travel bug off that was supposed to get back to Oz in 2014!! Better late than never! Thanks.

Having just arrived from the UK after two consecutive overnight flights we were somewhat knackered! We needed to get some fresh air though so headed around towards the harbour, especially poignant for us coming from Newcastle where we have our own copy of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. We spotted this virtual nearby and had to go for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The Five Orange Pips is one of his lesser known ones.
This is our first time in Australia and is the 70th different country in which we’ve geocaches. Thanks for keeping this virtual alive. I love them!

We were on a cruise which had been to the Holy Land of Israel and the ship stopped here on the way back to Rome. A great opportunity to visit some of the sights of Athens and of course, as it was International Earthcache Weekend, the chance to get a souvenir.
Our tour guide started at the Acropolis in order to beat the crowds and although we arrived by 9:30 there were already a lot of people around. Not surprising though as it is a great spot. I gathered the information which I've sent to the c.o. and I've attached a couple of photographs. Thanks for the Earthcache.

We arrived in Mykonos today on our magnificent cruise ship the Celebrity Silhouette and what a lovely place it is too. It seems that all the buildings are repainted every April which gives the whole town a lovely fresh feel; even the streets have a lot of white paint. We enjoyed the windmills and lovely views from ground zero so thanks to Hunting Hoffmans for bringing us here. I do like virtual caches too!

I solved this at home before coming to Pompeii. It took a few tries on the checker though when I wrongly assumed that AB meant AxB. Once I tried the alternative though I was rewarded with the coordinates.
I was glad I had already solved this as we were doing a tour from our cruise ship and by the time we reached the forum we only had 7 minutes to locate the cache and sign the logbook. I didn't have much luck to start with but once I got the correct side of the wall though the cache was soon in hand.

We'd been up Vesuvius this morning and this afternoon it was Pompeii, all part of an organised trip from our cruise ship. Our guide was excellent and we had a good look around these famous ruins. I was able to gather all the information as we went round and once back on board I searched the internet for the other answers which I've sent to the c.o. Thanks for the Earthcache.
We were on a cruise which stopped in Napoli, and we took the organised tour to Vesuvius and Pompeii. I do like going up volcanoes, and this one is spectacular at the top. The crater with almost vertical walls was quite stunning! We only had about an hour and a half to get up to the top and down again, just enough time to gather the information which I've sent to the c.o. It was a fabulous day today so terrific views to be had all round. Thanks for the Earthcache.
We came up Vesuvius on a tour from our cruise ship. We couldn't find the cache in the way up but on the way back down I spotted a likely area and luckily enough we were able to get a phone signal so I could download the hint photographs. After that we soon found it. We picked up a trackable and will move it on. Thanks for the cache.

We were back in Hong Kong having done a week in the wonderful Cambodia and had 36 hours before our flight home to the UK.
A wonderful trip up the cable car and a nice walk to the giant Buddha and what an impressive one it was too. We're flying back to the UK this evening so the answers may not get emailed until tomorrow.
A fabulous place to visit and we were lucky with the weather as well; perfect. Thanks for the Earthcache.

We were back in Hong Kong having done a week in the wonderful Cambodia and had 36 hours before our flight home to the UK. We stayed in Tung Chung which was very handily placed for the cable car up to the giant Buddha.
Our first stop when we got there was to find this cache so we could drop off a couple of travel bugs. The GPS was working well up here and the cache was soon in hand. Thanks for the cache.
