Logs for TroopScouter

My last cache before leaving for home. I have walked past this spot twice a day for the past week on my way too and from the National Hockey Centre, but usually with team mates in tow. This time I was on my own, so I popped through a gap in the fence and went to look in the obvious place ...
Not there, so I checked the coordinates and that got me to the right spot.
Admin done, and tomorrow I leave for Johannesburg....

Today was a rest day for the SA Masters Hockey World Cup team so after a late breakfast some of the guys decided to take a stroll into town. When they stopped off at a pub, I decided to do some caching.

These can take a while to spot, but I was lucky this time and picked the right place to look first up.

Last one for the day on my way back to the hotel. The hint was good, and the cache easily found.

The starting point for this Multi was close to another cache I had just found, so I decided to give it a go. The clues were all in one place, and the checksum worked right away, and as the final wasn't too far away I went for a look. What a great little container! I almost overlooked it, but spotted it on the second pass. Nice one!

When I got close to ground zero I sensed there might be a problem. There was some temporary fencing up surrounding three trees that had recently been cut down. Unfortunately the fencing also enclosed two of the three benches that were once under the trees, so I was unable to complete my search. Logging a DNF on this one ...

Having been forewarned, I was ready for this one. I sat down and waited a minute or two for some muggles to pass by, and then quickly grabbed the cache.

The log sheet was absolutely brilliant, so I'm awarding it a FP!

Thanks to the hint I figured out where I needed to look, and then it was just a matter of finding the right moment to grab it. Interesting little eating spots across from GZ.

After leaving my GPSr to settle, I soon spotted something that looked out of place, and sure enough, there it was. Admin done and off to the next one.

As with previous cachers, the hint made sense when I got to GZ, and then it was an easy find. I struggled to get the log sheet out of the container as I'm effectively working with only one hand. I took a ball to the thumb in our game against Australia yesterday, and it's pretty swollen.

There was nobody around (fortunately) so I could search at leisure. After narrowing down the options I picked a likely spot, and there it was.

On my way back to the hotel there were one or two more caches I could look for. Spotted some Pathfinders in the park, and mistook them for Scouts. It was only a short detour though, and then I could look for this cache.

It took a while for my GPSr to settle, and as I'm using my phone rather than my Garmin, I know it takes a little longer than usual to lock in. Eventually looked in the places where I would have hidden something, and finally spotted it.

This was my first cache in Aussie!
I'm here to play Masters World Cup Hockey, and this morning we had a couple of hours off. I went for a light run to loosen up my tired legs, and passed this spot on the way. After looking around for a couple of minutes I spotted something that looked familiar, and sure enough, found the container tucked away there. Log signed. No trade today. My TB's came along for the ride.

Number two in Aussie! Having come all this way from South Africa to play hockey, I just had to grab a couple of caches. There were three close to my hotel, so I went for a light run this morning to see if I could find a couple of them. Good coordinates and a solid hint made this an easy find.
