Logs for Violet Monkey
09-Jan-08
Found this cache without too much difficulty, our GPS unit seemed to be having issues, but managed to get us to the destination ok... it was thanks to my 7yo who scouted around without us realising we were in the right spot and finding it!
So nice when the kids get wrapped up in the treasure hunt.
Thanks for a good cache

Well, I have to say, this one challenged our confidence a couple of times.
On finding the green door, I think we messed up on locating the correct house. Amazingly, even with our co-ordinates (which we think were wrong), we managed to locate WP2. From there we punched in the co-ords for WP3, only to find ourselves in a location that we both agreed was totally wrong. We abandoned the hunt to do 'The Apostle' cache hunt and thereafter stopped for a spot of lunch. We reviewed the cache instructions again and on double checking the co-ords we realised WP3 had been put into the GPS incorrectly! Argh.
So with newfound confidence and a full stomach, we headed off once again for WP3 location. We felt back on track, and continued on until success!
The only down fall with this cache hunt? I am no longer a virgin when it comes to stepping in something no one ever wants to step in... ewww... right at the cache! Let's just assume it was a dog and not the last geocacher who left the suprise! Haha.
What an eye opener this entire experience was. The properties are incredible, the views even moreso. I think I know where I'd like to move to if I had a spare squillion!
Thank you for showing me a part of the Peninsula I never would have known existed.

Took: Nothing, Left Nothing, only my autograph

Thank you for this lovely Cache hunt.
This was a really nice cache to look for. A pleasant stroll with beautiful views. The weather was terribly cold with small spots of rain, but we made a quick job of finding the cache. After that we discovered a massive sand dune that we couldn't resist climbing so that we could race down again. Who wants to grow up, seriously!
Just a note, the contents were quite sandy even though seal was in tact.
The team were Violet Monkey, Andrew the Great (who spotted it), and 2 little Monkeys.
Took: Brown Rubber Frog
Left: Spongebob Squarepants Starfish figurine

A nice easy cache hunt.
Thank you for the great location. The timing was perfect for us, as we hadn't realised until we had hit the road, that it was the first Sunday of the month. A perfect end to a cache hunt was going for a train ride on the miniature trains.
A wonderful afternoon treat for all.
Took: Plastic Horse and 20 cents
Left: Red Whistle and B1&B2 playing card
The crew consisted of Violet Monkey, Andrew The Great, and 2 little monkeys
PS: photo may be a spoiler for some, so please don't view until after you've searched for the cache yourself

This was a fun cache to find. Did think we wouldn't find it, but persistence prevailed!
Word of advice for those who take four year olds along on cache hunts. Don't take your eyes off the container. On having finished logging in my details, I went to pack the log back into the container, only to find it was missing. Little Miss 4 decided to help by throwing the 'rubbish' into the nearby bin!!!
I'm sure had any muggles been around, they would have wondered what in the world a family were doing inside a wheelie bin. (damn they stink).
Once all back in place, we headed off with a hearty chuckle.
Thanks for a cool Cache hunt. Lovely location too.

This was a fun find, especially when doing it in broad daylight and trying to look inconspicuous!
Looking forward to the next find.

Woo Hoo!!! My first ever Cache expedition. Partnered up with 'Andrew The Great' (who was also a newbie) we set off by foot with child in pram. We had just purchased the GPS so it was a learning curve for both of us.
Honestly, we were like two kids in a candy shop, great activity for keeping fit and chatting. After a hiccup with my calculations of the first set of co-ordinates (dur fred) we found the second waypoint and the rest played out perfectly. At the final location the GPS was trying to work out which possible hiding location it preferred, but we finally found the cache.
Our daughter was a little apprehensive about the walk, but was totally enthralled when I told her we were about to look for treasure. The build up of excitement was a beautiful thing to watch. Totally enjoyable experience for all three of us
Took the Poker Chip, left the Purple bull with yellow horns. (also, the log book was at it's end, may need to put in a new one)
The entire nut theme was fantastic. Well done and it goes to show you learn something new everyday (re: 2nd waypoint). Thanks for a totally cool first ever GeoCache experience GEOCACHING ROCKS!!!
