Logs for camlia

Dropped off child to Grandparents on the return journey it is just me and the dog. Yay I can stop wherever I please. Have been eying up this walk for a while now. Every time we go past we are on a mission to get back home.
Found. Number 213 it has been maybe 2 years at least since logging another cache must get back into it. Because it was spur of the moment I didn't have a pen. Took a pic of the log instead.

Dropped off child to Grandparents on the return journey it is just me and my dog. Perfect I can stop wherever I want. I have had my eye on this walk for some time now.
This cache had me stumped. I have had trouble with the phone location thingie. I guessed the location may be i was at the wrong place however it seemed logical to me. Will have to come back with the kids in tow they always seem to know how to work technology. Did see a cool little red bug though managed a pic before it disappeared.

Because I couldn't get my location going on the phone I just guessed that this would be a good spot for a cache had a quick search for something different and bingo got it! Because it was spur of the moment I didn't have a pen so I took a pic of the log.

When I arrived i sat in the car waiting for others to leave, that didn't happen. So I set off to find the others on the trail. On my return there were more cars with people just sitting there. So not a true DNF but helps me keep track.

Dropped off child to Grandparents on the return journey it is just me and my dog. Perfect I can stop wherever I want. I have had my eye on this walk for some time now. When we go past we are normally on a mission to get home. Have not logged a cache for some years now time to get back into it.
Interesting structure in the middle of nowhere i wonder what it's stories are?
Found cache with ease. Whew after a DNF on the last cache. Tftc. Spur of the moment that I can do caching so didn't have a pen took pictures of log instead.

Can see this Maunga from my house and it has long been on my to do list. Today was the day. Son and I finally ticked it off. Winding around the country roads despite it looking quite close from Matamata it is quite a way. We took the direct route as it was later in the day. Just the last bit was a bit tough. For a track that is a little out of the way it was quite busy. A group were departing as we arrived and as we were decending 2 more groups were going up. Searched high and low and on the ground for quite some time and declear it gone. It has been some time that the cache was last seen. Have to tackle it again another time.

Picked up the kids from their grandparents and decided on a walk through the Karangahake gorge. Originally went past gz as gps was being a bit unreliable, searched for a bit around what we thought was the obvious hint. Oh well will have to come again another time as we still have plenty to find.
Picked up the kids from their grandparents and decided on a walk through the Karangahake gorge. Starting to get tired and aware of the impending lack to day light we probably didn't give this one a decent go but none the less we did look so feel it needs a log, especially for my record. We have heaps more to do in the area so will be back some other time.
207 Picked up the kids from their grandparents and decided on a walk through the Karangahake gorge. Yay our first success for the day, been a bit disapointed and the kids moaning a bit but now our spirits are lifted. Had to back track 30 or so meters as our gps is not playing the game today. TFTC
210 Picked up the kids from their grandparents and decided on a walk through the Karangahake gorge. Did the loop from the windows, pipeline and dubbo. Thankfully the track is much easier going now as we were a bit worried about daylight or the lack of. Quick find. On a roll on this section of the track, had heaps of dnfs earlier in our day. TFTC
211 Picked up the kids from their grandparents and decided on a walk through the Karangahake gorge. Did the windows and pipeline tracks round to the dubbo. Much easier going now, making quick time. Easy find, good for the confidence we have had a few dnfs today. TFTC
Picked up the kids from their grandparents and decided on a walk through the Karangahake gorge. This was our first stop for the day. Had trouble getting the gps to settle, so looked in the obvious spots to no avail. Walked the windows, crown and dubbo tracks and looped back around some 5 hours later had another go less muggles this time being later in the day. Still no luck, think I know where we went wrong. Oh well there is always another time and still more caches to find!!
212 Picked up the kids from their grandparents and decided on a walk through the Karangahake gorge. We spent most of the day exploring here, when we got here it was packed even had to wait for a car park. So off we went saw the windows took the pipeline track onto the dubbo a loop that took us about 5.5 hours, lots of stops for caches of course, to read signs and marvel at what went on here years ago. When we got back daylight was just beginning to fade as well as the crowds. Had trouble getting the lid off the small container, managed in the end. TFTC
209 Picked up the kids from their grandparents and decided on a walk through the Karangahake gorge. We have walked the windows, pipeline and dubbo track in a loop. Getting a bit tired as we had to up the pace as didn't want to run out of daylight, thankfully the track along here is much kinder than what we had just climbed. Easy find. TFTC Picked up the Ladybird trackable and will find somewhere suitable for her to continue her journey.
208 Picked up the kids from their grandparents and decided on a walk through the Karangahake gorge. Initially walked past the wee track, oops gps says down there, you are kidding back up a wee bit to find we had missed the wee path. Quick find thanks to the great clue. Kids spent a bit of time tossing rocks into the river. TFTC
Picked up the kids from their grandparents and decided on a walk through the Karangahake gorge. This one with its age and D/T rating was disapointing to not get. We managed the tunnel with the camera flash on phone, thanks Mr 13. Upon return home and reading properly the logs I know where we went wrong. Bit tricky, but we will be back as I still have more to find.

Haven't found a cache for a long time. However was just down the road watching sons cricket. Took a wander while they were warming up. Ironic that the view I had out my hostel window 20 something years ago would have overlooked the cache location. TFTC
206 At the University for sons cricket game. Took a wander before game got going. I attended Waikato Uni 20 + years ago. Found quickly. Had trouble with the shiney paper and my pencil. My log is barely legible. TFTC.

202 Here in Hamilton-Innes Common for my sons cricket game. In between watching the 2 boys bowling I managed to sneak geodog away for a wee walkies. Took a while to get my bearings with this one, I was a bit rusty having had the winter with no caching. Once bearings found, I was all good. Thanks for the cache steedandpeel.
203 Here in Hamilton-Innes Common for my sons cricket game. In between watching the 2 boys bowling I managed to sneak geodog away for a wee walkies. By the time I wandered over to this one the gps on my phone had me in the middle of Hamilton. Followed the clues and managed to make a find. TFTC steedandpeel.
204 Here in Hamilton-Innes Common for my sons cricket game. In between watching the 2 boys bowling I managed to sneak geodog away for a wee walkies. Very appropriate cache given I was watching cricket. This is my 2nd attempt at this cache. Last season I had a brief try but failed. Not this time. A new path has been put in place since my last visit, seemed busy with cyclists. A very original log, bit hard to see previous finders as some had washed off. TFTC steedandpeel. Gave this one a favourite for originality.

Cache belongs to my son who is away for the school holidays but I will in the morning (23/4) check out the cache and remedy it, really would like it to be active and dry for ANZAC day as that is the 1 year aniversary of placement.
Almost one year to the day I am back at the annual WAG (Waikato Agility Group) Jumpers Champ show. Last year was a DNF for me as it was missing. The cache has been replaced, yay. So while I am exercising my dog between classes I have a look for it. Found it!! It did take a little bit of looking though. TFTC radionut50. By the way my dog didn't have a great day competing, she goes too fast round the course and knocks rails down, love her to bits regardless.

198 Nice day before some predicted nasty weather. I am on holiday the kids are away with grandparents so geo hound and I are off caching for the afternoon in the Redwoods, love it that I can walk with my dog. Finally got this one!! Last time was a dnf it had been muggled. Took ages this one gps all over the show, then the track was very busy. I would have to sit down and pretend I was resting. Then a bus load of Americans came past lots of them had to pat my dog as they were missing theirs while on holiday.
199 Nice day before some predicted nasty weather. I am on holiday, the kids are away with grandparents so geo hound and I are off caching for the afternoon in the Redwoods, love it that I can walk with my dog. Chugged up the hill for this cache had a bit of a puff going on. Nice view. I think this is one of the oldest caches I have found, great it has been kept going all this time. Covered with a little more natural camo. TFTC Gencuster
200 A milestone cache. Nice day before some predicted nasty weather. I am on holiday, the kids are away with grandparents so geo hound and I are off caching for the afternoon in the Redwoods, love it that I can walk with my dog.
This cache has frustrated me twice before. Was determined today. Doh relatively easy find. I was a little off with my searching the previous two times, how could I have been so wrong!! A sense of accomplishment, 4 from 4 today it is getting late and I have covered a fair bit of ground. TFTC Davidson clan.

197 Nice day before some predicted nasty weather. I am on holiday, the kids are away with grandparents so geo hound and I are off caching for the afternoon in the Redwoods, love it that I can walk with my dog. Haven't been on this side of the road in the Redwoods before. Clue Huh??? At gz it is apparent. Relatively quick first find of the day. TFTC Agogo.

195 Took 2 attempts to get this cache. Second time round was armed with the correct information. Just had to look inconspicuous as people were sitting on their deck. Waited till some kids kayaked past and diverted their attention. TFTC
196 Got the answers to this cache at the museum while sipping on an award winning shake from the cafe a couple of buildings along the road. Kids were pretty good at finding the answers for me and reading out the signs. I have been in the museum years ago. It was fascinating spent heaps of time looking at things. This time closing time was not far away. Took answers home and hubby put them into his computer. I have no gps on holiday and no data left on my phone. Whoops. We are out the district by quite some distance. Think we know which co-ord could be wrong. So line up co-ord line and it looks very promising know the area a little and prior logs sound reassuring. Took dog for a wander and was daunted until I saw something that would have been a great cache place. Bingo. How do you manage to find such cool spots to hide a cache. I have been in the vicinity before yet not known this spot existed. TFTC

189 I was getting frustrated with this one. People were hanging about on a jetty. We were trying to be inconspicuous. About to give up. Eldest son found it. TFTC
190 Nice quick find here. Son helped me he had found with his gran earlier in the year. Came out of garden cache in hand and there watching what I was doing was a crowd on a massive boat. Doh. TFTC
193 Clearing out the Whitianga caches with the kids. Great to have the kids as a distraction playing on gun. Eldest son found no problem. TFTC.
191 Out with the kids doing the rest of the Whitianga caches. Never been to this area before. Found by using clue only no co-ords. TFTC
194 Last cache of the day heading back to beach house now. Eldest son has had a good day today spotting majority of the caches today. Cool camo very fitting. TFTC
185 Todays walk and another 2 caches planned. Have never been to this area before despite walking along the main road multiple times over the years. Quick find despite first impressions. TFTC
186. 2 caches planned for my morning walk this being one of them. Never been to this random park and never knew it was there. Love it that caching takes me to places that I would not normally go to. It was nice and peaceful with the birdsong from nearby trees. Very cool camo well crafted. TFTC
188 Pretty impressive earthworks going on. Kids fascinated by size of tire marks. Quick find. TFTC
187 Took the kids for a wee drive around town collecting caches as we go. Been past this one a few times already this holiday. Finally got it. TFTC
192 Cleaning up the rest of the whitianga caches with the kids. Have only driven past here before. Some people had a chair set up and were practicing golf. Took dog for a wander and by the time we worked out what gz was we were obscured by a bushy tree. Yay. TFTC.

184 Found out while walking with my mum. She had found this with my boys earlier in the year so knew where it was. Great as I am out of data on my phone. We ended up the top of centennial dr. By the time we got back we had walked for 2 hours.
183 Took two attempts to get this cache. Took kids for a morning walk. I have no data but thought as seeing as they have found this cache with their gran earlier in the year they would know roughly where it was. No such luck. Came back the next day with mum who knew roughly where it was. TFTC

182 We holiday just down the road. So the boys and their scooters and me with the dog went for a wander. This is such a nice part of the world. What is better than a beautiful beach?
179 In Whitianga for our yearly summer holiday with family. Left the boys with hubby at the kids fishing comp off the wharf and walked down to the couple of caches down this way. Been to this area plenty of times pre-caching. Saw that the scouts have also placed another container there recently. TFTC bluedahlia.
180 Have been eyeing this cache up for several days now. We walk right past it to get to the beach, either too many people about or I don't have a pen. Today ideal conditions to make a find. Coast was clear and I had a pen. TFTC.
180 Little bit of confusion to begin with. I only had some notes jotted on a piece of paper for the local caches as I am out of phone data. Had left the kids at the fishing comp at the wharf with hubby and walked down to this cache. Had a look couldn't find anything as I thought I may have mixed my caches up on my piece of paper, went and found the next one and on the return trip stopped again at this one. Easy find this time despite the tree being the wrong species.

178 Worked out the co-ords with the help of hubby and google. Put them into google earth on hubbys phone as I don't have my gps with me and of course the kids have run me out of data on my phone. Wow this is so close to where are holidaying, as per every year. Come on kids I don't care if it is the heat of the day there is a cache to be found. Guessed where we thought GZ would be when we got there and of course it was in the very last spot that I looked in. TFTC IRLNZ. Gets a FP as it is my first mystery cache and I enjoyed working it out.
177 Staying at the family house not too far away. Can almost see GZ from the lounge. Out for a walk to collect these couple of caches along this area. Nice simple find by my boys. TFTC

#176 Brought youngest son over to Te Aroha for his cricket game. Instead of watching (bad mother moment) I walked the mountain track up to Whakapipi look out with the geodog. Great walk just enough of a challenge, I believe that it gets harder past this point. Made it to the lookout for a well earned rest, which I really had to do as there was a group of 4 walkers having a snack and rest. Once they moved on I set to looking for the cache, was fairly certain what I was looking for but no luck. Turned on phone for some more info, hmm gz is 100m away, maybe another lookout??, so off we go further up the track, then gps on phone decides that gz was where I was in the first place. So back for another look, success this time. Well done Muzy Man a great cache, something a little different. An FP from me!
