Logs for ceiffel

Yesterday, on the way to the airport, we saw two caches on the GPS, next to the road, but could not stop.
Two hours later our flight was cancelled.

By chance, the airline told us that they had reserved a room for us in the Holiday Inn hotel, close to the two caches.

Today we had a short walk and found the caches immediately.

Last week we had taken a Tango lesson.
Today we repeated the steps while looking for the cache.
A very good idea to place a geocache here.

Carda saw the cache first.

Before leaving from Europe this more than 13 year old cache was on my list.

It was a long and interesting hike through the desert (more than 2 km one way).
I had never done this before, so it made this day very special.
The GPS was the guide to find a path through the bushes and the enormous cactus.
Sometimes the dry sandy river bed served as trail.

The view on desert and the mountains is really fascinating.

Once at the final destination, the cache was found immediately, the biggest metal container ever seen.
Thanks for keeping this memorable cache active!

Ein beeindruckender uralter Cache, bereits 11 Jahre alt und immer noch eine Reise wert. Wirklich toll!

Auch der Altenberger Dom ist ein kulturelles Erlebnis. Vielen Dank fürs Zeigen.

When I was in Auckland in February to sign the logbook there were 2 "new" countries missing.

Today the challenge requirements are complete : To find and log a cache in (at least) 10 countries other than New Zealand, and on (at least) 4 continents.

The 4 continents:
1. Europe:
Germany (GC1QX3Y Flash Gordon 2)
France (GC17KPM An Observatory with a View)
Spain (GC16MYZ Palau de la Música Catalana)
Italy (GC1QC5D Fontana di Trevi)
Monaco (GC1Z0P9 Grand prix de MONACO - Le casino)
Gibraltar (GC23J9T >Fetiche< of Mega)
Belgium (GCV1ZT Espace Ockeghem: la tour de Saint-Ghislain)
Netherlands (GC1Z7VZ Werken met wind en water (2))
Luxembourg (GC2BDDQ Firebirds)
Austria (GC2Y2ED Einfach moi hisitzen und obe schaun!...)
Czech Republic (GC1F4RB Rechle Cesky Krumlov)

2. Asia
Singapore (GC2EE7 Hidden beauty spot)

3.Australia
Australia (GCR9Z4 The Pink Lady)

4. North America:
United States (GCRM6G Bonsai Banzai)

The 3 countries found after the 16th of August 2011 are:
18.08.2011 Luxembourg (GC2BDDQ Firebirds)
30.04.2012 Austria (GC2Y2ED Einfach moi hisitzen und obe schaun!...)
01.05.2012 Czech Republic (GC1F4RB Rechle Cesky Krumlov)

In order to pass through Austria and Czech Republic I had to drive a deviation on the way from Munich to northern Germany. On these two days I have seen such nice landscape and interesting areas that it was well worth the unplanned journey.

Thanks for this interesting challenge. Going around the world and looking for caches takes to the most beautiful places!

Came here today by train, in the rain, to sign the log of this interesting and motivating challenge cache. A very good idea.

The area is so nice and peaceful, even in the rain. First I crossed (by mistake) the new pedestrian bridge and saw some beautiful birds.

The challenge: on 13/02/2012 I found GC102GB [Unknown Cache] "Starry Starry Night (Nelson/Marlborough)" South Island/New Zealand which was found last on 21/01/2011, more than 12 months ago.
I hope that my find will motivated other geocachers to come and get it.
As, on my first try, I followed the wrong and very incomplete sequence of big "stars", they also confused other people last year.

Thanks for having me come here!

What a chance, on the way to the airport the taxi had 20 minutes before picking up another person.
So the driver proposed to take me here, to this wonderful place that I did not know.
I took lots of pictures and I'll keep this panoramic paradise as a highlight of two weeks of exciting visiting and geocaching in New Zealand.

Found this cache easily thanks to the hint.
What a nice area, wished it was not raining so much, it must be beautiful here in the sun.

Discovered one GC but left it in the box as I don't know where it wants to go.

Found the box close to where the hint pointed.
Thanks for the nice walk.

Found this cache today after a long walk, before entering the big park.
The name of the tree is very well chosen.
TFTC!

Came here and discovered the boulders and their history thanks to your geocache.
Thanks a lot for all the explanations.
TFTC!

A nice long walk away from the busy roads.

Found the two waypoints and calculated the final coords.

But once arrived there, the hint matched, but the coordinates were 90 meters off in an area that was inaccessible, and there was no box anywhere.
Were the calculations wrong?

Thank you for the pleasant walk with a nice view!

Found this cache today after having studied the Auckland train system. The best station for coming here is Te Papapa.

As I have found caches in 13 countries, I should qualify for this challenge.
The "new" country, where I found my first cache after August 16th 2011, is Luxemburg.
18/08/2011 GC2BXPM [Traditional Cache] "ECHO CACHE" Luxembourg
20/01/2012 GC1E0Z1 [Traditional Cache] "Fort Canning Park" Singapore
03/12/2011 GC35JDC [Traditional Cache] "G. SIMENON" France
25/03/2011 GC1W2NX [Traditional Cache] "Wasser für's römische Mainz" Germany

Thanks for this challenge.

Today I found the cache and signed the log, but I do not yet qualify for the "found it" log.

The 13 countries in which I found caches are on 4 continents.
But 2 other "new" countries after the 16th of August 2011 are missing in the list.

Thanks for this demanding challenge!

Last cache of the day, after a long walk in the big "domain" park.

It is nearly dark and not many people are around. >Easy find.
TFTC!

Read about this interesting fact and history today in the rain.
It is very impressive!

Thanks for showing and explaining!
TFTC!

Without any previous knowledge I discovered the Domain Park thanks to this earth cache, and I learned so much about the volcano and the adjacent parts, walking back and forth to the different waypoints and reading the facts and the history, trying to understand the sequence of the timely events.

This is the most insteresting earth cache!
And a very nice park.
Thanks a lot.
TFTC!

After having read all the interesting information described in the cache listing, I decided to climb onto the bridge.
At the same time, looked for the box, but did not find it.

This nice cache should be enabled again, somewhere around!

Hint helps a lot to find the box.

Visiting friends in this pleasant peaceful area so close to Auckland.
Found the box thanks to the hint at the end of the day, all muggles had gone home.
Thanks for the walk.

Thanks for showing this small zoo with NZ animals in the centre of Auckland.

Hint is very precise.

Second try, but two days ago it was raining.

Today, on a beautiful sunny day and after another hint from the owner, the box was found quickly.

What a wonderful view onto the lake and the mountains! The scenery invites for a long rest on the steps to enjoy.

Nice little parc!
Camo looks real, well done!

Very interesting Historic Building. One needs some distance to appreciate.
And thanks for telling the story.

The cache is fantastic, bravo!

Thanks for taking us here.

Very interesting. Even in the rain it is a special location, a beautiful lake!
Thanks for the information!

There were lots of jumps today, on this summy day with a blue sky.
Cache found easily at the precise coordinates.

Love the note to the muggles....

After walking up through the Rain Forest from Fox Glacier on a sunny day, the view onto the glacier was excellent. Only the top of the montains was in clouds.

Thanks for the earth cache and all the information and explanations.

Found the cache after a nice walk through the Fox Glacier Rain Forest and after crossing the bridge.
Thanks for the walk and the impressive view!
TFTC!

Very pleasant walk around the lake on a sunny day with blue sky.
There was no wind, but the top of the mountains was in clouds, so no reflections in the lake, not even from Reflection Island.
At the end of the day, some wind came up and the mountains tops became visible.

Thanks for the walk and the interesting information.
CEIFFEL

Walked here from the Cessna's Jump Run on a sunny day.

Found the cache after turning a few rocks first.
But then found the box under the most beautiful rock.

Enjoyed the view onto the large empty river with millions of rocks.
TFTC!

There is no water in the Rocky Creek right now.
Found the box, precise coordinates.
TFTC!

Did not find the box.... came twice and had lots of time to look, without any muggles around.

Did not know the memorial for the recent accident was here.

However the view was excellent, the wind blew the clouds away from the top of the mountains, the waiting for the perfect mountain tops made searching the cache a pleasure and excuse.

A cache close to the most spectacular tree in the rain forest of Fox Glacier.
Thanks for the nice walk.

After having missed the bus this morning, I decided to walk up from Nelson the steep paths to the top of the Grampians.
It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and the view was wonderful.

Then tried to get to the caches on the other side of the hill, which was only possible for one. The others were always 40 meters away, but my maps on the Garmin are too bad, and no path seems to go there.

To get down to Market Street was a real struggle, the jungle is taking over the steep path and the steps.

What a surprise to get to this cache and its special cache construction.
Brilliant!

TFTC!

It's true, the view is wonderful after this steep climb up to the Grampians.

The box is is very nice, it took me a while to find this very special place of the box and its choice.

TFTC!

Came here after having walked up from Nelson to the top of the Grampians.
It was not easy to find the right track to get to this cache, so there were a few downs and ups necessary.

The cache is nicely hidden, well protected!

Came here after a long and steep walk from Nelson and learned about the Flaxmore Fault.

Thanks for the interesting reading, the information in the cache and the beautiful view!

After having missed the bus this morning because of my own fault mixing up the hours, I decided to walk up to the Grampians.
But I appreciate some intellectual effort to train the brain and avoid such mistakes in the future.

Interesting mystery, nice to solve sitting on the top of the hill, in the sun, enjoying the view.

TFTC!

Had go go down and back up again.
Easy to find the cache. Nice place.
TFTC!

Such a nice place, sitting in the sun, having lunch, after a big effort of climbing these steep paths from Nelson.
At the same time the GPS can ajust and show precisely where the cache should be. Also the description and the hint require some thinking.

After several joggers pass, the area is mugglefree and the box can be freed.
Another 15 minutes and the logbook is dried by the sun.

Very nice cache!
TFTC!

That's steep walking up ...!
Now I understand the title and also the hint.

Very nice hiding place and idea!

Have never seen this kind of box before, well done!

Found this special celebration cache together with Samy!.

We met by chance last week late at night in the rain under the "Queen Victoria" statue cache in Wellington. She gave me a hint for the cache.

Today we celebrated our new friendship and spent a wonderful day geocaching in Nelson. Thanks, Samy!, for showing me your beautiful town!

Excellent cache-box! TFTC!

Found all the blue things, but had to clean them first in order to use them.
One was well hidden by vegetation.
The sequence is complete and at the end was a very nice box!

Have never seen that "system", it is a very good idea!.
TFTC!

What a wonderful day of geocaching in Nelson guided by Samy!

It took a while to find the right access point to the cache.

What a shame that it was Tuesday and that there were no karts driving.
It must be a lot of fun observing them on the bumpy race track!
TFTC!

Thanks to Samy! I enjoyed another beautiful view from one of the many hills of Nelson.

The cache is an engeneering artwork!
