Logs for cem42

Our tour of Australia is almost over, but since we have been staying at the Hides Hotel, it would be embarrassing to leave Cairns without logging this cache first.
We found the cache after a whort search with assistance from a muggler couple. But don't worry; they are going back to Denmark with us, so the cache is safe

We own a GPSMAP 62s, so we are able to hear cbirps. But since there only are a few caches of this type, we grab every opportunity to find them.
This cache was a quick find, and a funny one too. We enjoyed the container very much, and we are pleased to award it a favorite point.
We put a tb in it. It wants to go to Germany. We could take it home to Denmark next friday, but i have a feeling that the owner wants it to travel a littlebit more than that.

We got out of bed at 02:30 and drove to a small airstrip just outside Port Douglas.
At 1st contact the sun was by a cloud, but we saw the last 20 minutes up till the totality. After 30 seconds of corona watching the sun got clouded again. We just got the final diamond ring.

Only appointment in the agenda today was the eclipse, which was finished early in the morning. So we had plenty of time to go caching, and we started with this swap cache.
After some r3ckoning up above, we quickly found the Fiddler Down Under. The little thing contained no travellers, so we dropped 4 coins and a TB. The TB comes from the Northern Territory desert (Uluru) and wants to go to places near the water, and the coins are bound for different continents.
The cache was a little tricky, but a good solid find, so we give it a favorite point.

First to leave, but that's a title we aren't proud of. This was our first event outside Denmark, and the world-spanning group was a very fascinating angle. As short as it was, we enjoyed our stay at the event. We hope to see you folks some time again, perhaps in Denmark?
Well, we didn't find and tins... but we found some paper. And freed the world from it
Thanks again for arranging this gathering.

Waiting for the train, er had plenty of time to log a cache. It wsd quickly found, thanks to the hint. A little unsporty, perhaps, bit er wanted to be sure we could find it.

Our tour of Australia included 3 days at Yulara, and we were wondering if it was possible to fill the time here. But of course it was, and we have many great memories from this place. The sunset at Uluru, King's Canyon, dinner at "Sounds of Silence", for example. And also the tour around the base of Uluru, where the reliefs of the rock side constantly changed.
Standing next to this world famous landmark was a very special feeling, kind of "Now I'm finally here!".
The climb was closed due to wind and temperature, but that didn't change any plans for us. We had already agreed not to climb. We took the walk instead, it took 2,5 hours and a lot of water.

After a bushtucker tour in the nearby desert, we wanted to test our skills in this area. And guess what, we survived!
And not only that, we found a geocache too!
We left two geocoins. They are supposed to race each back to Denmark. Please split them up, they shouldn't travel together. TIA, and thanks for the cache.

The King's Canyon earthcache, and the traditional cache near the Garden of Eden, are without doubt the most remote geocaches we have ever logged! We had travelled 31 hours by plane, 3 hours by bus, and 2-3 hours by foot to log them.
But it was worth it, of course. Our home country, Denmark, isn't quite as dramatic as this landscape, so we were very impressed.
Thanks to Team sissifalke for taking us out here. We might have come anyway even without a cache, but... thanks anyway

Although we are pretty hardcore geocachers, this cache wasn't our top priority on this trip. But since we came nearby, we ofcourse took a few minutes of our precious stone-admiring time. The cache was easily found, on fairly precise coordinates.
Thanks to SIDEandHEEK for planing this cache out in nowhere.

The difference between Kata Tjuta and Uluru (and Atila) is fascinating, and the sight of these three sites, with their caves, rifts and other features, really makes you want to be a geologist.
It's easy to understand why the aboriginals made all these myths about the places.

Indeed, it was one of the more comfortable loggings. We have tried logging in a tree 10 meters above the ground, in a tunnel with bare feet in cold water, and in a crowded place where it took forever to replace the cache. But we never logged in an leather couch before!
Thanks for the experience, and for the convenient TB swap box.

A guided tour in Hobart must come through Richmond, so we visited this wondelful little town on a mild day. We saw the church with the colorful glass mosaics, and of course we found and logged the little gem hidden nearby. Thanks to Travelling Sister for this hide. We'll grant it one of our favorite points.

It's a little embarrassing, but we have forgotten to log this cache online. Until now, when our GPS reminded us to log it, so here we go.
We passed the place on a trip to Port Arthur, and our bus made a stop. Not at all a bad place for a break, with several sculptures and the canal to see. And, of course, a cache to log!

Today was the day, where we would set a record, that we may never break: the farthest cache we are coming near on our tour in Australia: Stewart's handle, approx. 16.700 km. from our home in Denmark.
We came with a group, and was shown around the old prison facilities of Port Arthur. Then we had one hour to ourselves, so we followed the path as far as we could, and followed the coast rocks the last 100 meters. The cache was easily found, and we signed the log with the feeling that this was something special.
We dropped two geocoins, a hen and an egg. They are supposed to race each ohter home to Denmark, so please split them up, and send them on different routes. TIA, and thanks for this fine cache.

On our way to Port Arthur, we stopped at a few exciting locations, including the blowhole.
We passed the Doo-town, but we couldn't get a picture of one of the signs. As a compensation, here's a few ideas for our own sign, should we ever build a house here: Didgeri-doo, Doo-wah-dee-dee, Doo-bi-doo, mucha-doo.

With the fine location description, the cache was quickly found. And we left two coins, who shall raise each other to Denmark. They aren't bound for Antarctica, but they wouldn't mind going there, of course.
TB hotels are generally a fine idea, but the port to the South Pole is something special. I'm proud to have this logged, and it deserves a favorite point!

We were mainly hunting for small caches today, but since we passed right by this micro, we could just as well log it too. The cache was easily found, and we found a spot at the extra log..
In the animal park we got our first pictures of kangaroos and wombats, and before our bus tour continued, we just had time to log this cache. Easily found, and we managed to squeeze our name into an otherwise occupied place.
The area was fairly deserted, so we found the cache quite easily.
We left two geocoins in the cache, a hen and an egg. They will be racing each other back to Denmark, and they are not supposed to travel together. So please split them up when you retrieve them from the cache.

The weather wasn't perfect for a visit to this area, but when travelling on a tight schedule, we didn't have an option. And at least, it was fine weather for a tour in the rain forest
We took the steep railway down, walked the footway around, and came back up to the plateau by cable car. On the way, we learned a lot about mining.

We had no problems finding the cache, except for the distraction from enjoying this fine park.
We took the Key To Seatlle with us, and left two coins instead. They are supposed to race each other to Denmark, so please split them up.

I'll have to go with Barry Humphries. In Denmark he isn't well known as a writer, but more for his characters; mostly Dame Edna, of course, but also Les Patterson, who keeps up our stereotype image of australians. But don't worry, we love australians, both the types and the real ones. You are very helpful and down-to-earth people.

After a guided tour to at opera house, we had the rest of the day to ourselves. We spent most of it at the Rocks, doing some waymarks and this earthcache. It's a fascinating area around GZ; lot of history, a beautiful view and with this earthcache, a geological lesson!
01-Nov-12
Just arrived from Denmark, our Sydney guide took us for a quick tour of the western Sydney. That gave us the opportunity to log our first australian cache here on Bondi beach. We enjoyed the place, both the beach and the hideout. Thanks to Bells Angels for the cache.
The location of this earthcache is a fine combination of Australia's history and geology. We visited the place as one of our first stops after arriving from Denmark. The guise wanted to show us the trees and the view to the opera house and Harbour bridge, but we managed to sneak away for a few minutes.
Thanks for the introduction to the geology of Sydney and Australia!

Well, it only seems fair that we should clean up after ourselves. We look forward to meet you all!

The solar eclipse brings us to Cairns, so naturally we'll attend. We're on a guided tour all day, but it looks like we'll be back in time for this event.
