Logs for chilihouse

One-third of The Chilihouse headed over to Wiltshire again, on a winter’s day that started dry but deteriorated as time went by. I was targeting ‘numbered series’ caches today, and any others that I found myself passing close to.

I walked along to this one from the nearby ‘Village Hall’ cache. On arrival, I first had to let a muggle clear the area, which gave my GPSr time to settle down, after heading under the A31. After a couple of minutes I spotted something but, before I could investigate, I had to let another muggle clear the area. As soon as the coast was clear, I enlisted the help of my ‘little Swiss friend’ and, thereafter, I soon had the cache in hand. A clever little hide.

One-third of The Chilihouse headed to Arundel this afternoon, primarily to attempt the Adventure Lab caches here, ahead of the ‘Hampshire Monthly Mid Week Christmas Event’ near Petersfield. It was a lovely sunny winter’s day, but the temperature plummeted as the light quickly faded in the afternoon.

I was in Fleet for the lunchtime event, and as I’d arrived a little ahead of the scheduled starting time, I was able to head along to this one beforehand – I had ‘solved’ it by doing some research, so today I was able to head straight to the corrected coordinates. I spotted the likely hiding place from some distance away, and the cache itself on my final approach, making this an easy find; I just hope nobody was peeking out from behind their curtains…

The Chilihouse were en route to Potters Pond - the last cache needed to complete our JASMER grid - and we did some selected caches en route, on a warm and sunny September afternoon.

This was our last cache of the day and, obviously, our prime target.

After picking up the nearby letterbox we followed the path up through the meadow past the oddly placed old oil drum, and we were soon climbing up on a rather challenging path, due to the number of fallen trees, and we resisted the temptation to head 'off piste' as we got closer, assuming that the path would eventually zig zag its way to GZ, and we were proved right. On our final approach we spotted some really rather obvious camouflage which, unsurprisingly, revealed the cache.

Our trip to the USA had been a success - we had completed our JASMER grid! Obviously this special old cache merits a favourite point.

Picked up a TB to move on - other than this trackable, TNLNSL.

The Chilihouse were en route from Redding to San Francisco, on a gloriously hot and sunny day, and we had planned all along to make the diversion to this one as it would fill one of the few remaining gaps in our JASMER grid.

Having parked nearby we made the short walk to GZ, letting muggle in a car clear the area as we did so, and we were soon searching for the cache in all the places applicable to the D/T rating, but with no success. It was Mrs Chilihouse who then spotted something and it was Mr Chilihouse who did the investigation, and the cache was soon in hand.

This is definitely not a terrain 1 cache!

One-third of The Chilihouse was in Amsterdam for a conference, and I had some time to head out for a walk around the city and attempt some caches, on a chilly but dry Spring day.

This one took me ages to find, and then subsequently re-hide. It wasn't the cache itself, as I had deduced the only possible hiding place, but rather the high muggle density very close to GZ. Eventually I managed to locate and grab the cache, and then (after trying to pit the lid on the wrong way round for some time, only eventually realising what I was doing wrong...) I had to wait a few more minutes before a suitable gap in the muggles opened up allowing me to re-hide the cache.

Took Nothing, Left Nothing, Signed Log.

Thanks For The cache.

Mr Chilihouse was caching today in the company of Bernie The Geocacher, SeekingSalters, Saints1 and Fudgeman - oh and everybody else, at various times of the day, attempting the '11 in 11' challenge!

I know this is supposed to visit different caches and places, but I hadn't expected to find it in a basement restaurant of a well-known pizza chain in the middle of Oxford on a sunny Sunday lunchtime, in the hands of another cacher who was in the process of moving it on! It also wouldn't be the only high D/T cache that we would unexpectedly find today...
