Logs for dmavard

12-Feb-10
Nice to see this has reappeared. It's an easy find, but you'll get your feet wet chasing it just at the moment as Weedon's Crossing is flooding. Won't worry the cache though, so just give it a week or so for the river to come down.

Cheers

Found in the company of SneakyKiwi and the GeoLads. In keeping with the name of the cache the GeoLads took a biplane and replaced it with 2 x yo yo's and a bouncy ball.

Log book is a little damp but still usable. Nice easy find.

Thanks for the cache.

Nice easy find with Muggles the biggest threat. Found with SneakyKiwi and the GeoLads. Took nothing, added something.

Thanks for the cache.

Very easy find and certainly requiring the right amount of timing and stealth to avoid muggles.

Added the Catalunya GeoCoin - its mission is to visit as many castles as it can, so we took it to Bli Bli Castle for a photo shoot and then tucked it into the nearest cache (this one) to send it on its way.

24-Jan-10
Took the long walk round to this one with SneakyKiwi. Enjoyed the walk, the views and the information boards.
Thanks for the easy find.
Took Catalunya GeoCoin, added Cooper Cow GeoCoin.

Another found without notes or clues but SneakyKiwi was on a roll.

Would never have found it without the clues and logs. Awesome cache, but sadly it is COMPLETELY full of water (all 20L).

Drove almost right to it ... nice easy find, but had to negotiate a rather large guardian (see photo).
Took nothing, added blue heart bracelet and red finger puppet. Found with SneakyKiwi.

Took quite some time to find between the many many muggles and caching without notes or clues, but SneakyKiwi's persistence paid off.
Lovely views. TFTC

Another hunt without notes or clues. GPS had GZ anywhere between the flagpole and McKenna, and despite an extensive look and a surprise toad leaping out of a tree hollow the cache eluded us, even SneakyKiwi. The clue would have been very useful for this one.

Nice easy find. Many thanks.

Nice easy find, though did snag on the barbed wire as many have before me.
Laughed to see a Darryl Brathwaite CD in the cache. Took nothing (not a big fan) but added brown and white pony.
Many thanks.

Nice easy find. Many thanks.

Was driving past this one and though I didn't have any of the paper work for it thought we'd have a crack purely from the coords. No sign of it.

Nice easy find. Took nothing. Left Beaver Dude geo coin.

Had a good laugh when I found this one as I had not seen this type of cache previously. There really is no substitute for experience.

It was touch and go for a while there as to whether I would have to concede and log a second DNF on this one. The GPS said GZ was in the middle of the road. The calves were incredibly cute but absolutely no help. I had looked over the obvious spot several times and was convinced there was nothing there, so then started looking in less likely places on both sides of the road.

Eventually common sense prevailed, and with some closer investigation I was soon delighted to have the cache in hand. Did not try to extract the log, but was content to have come for another beautiful run in the countryside and found the cache.

Thanks very much.

Third visit to this one, with extra eyes on board, and STILL no luck. Am now convinced I've messed up the coords or something. Will have to read the logs again and check all the details before trying again.

Can't believe we found this one. Definitely would not have found it if we had not read the logs thoroughly. Had pretty much given up when we searched the other side of the track from the alleged GZ (GPS not quite herself today).

Incredibly sneaky hide. Thanks very much.

A sneaky one but a quick find due to having read all the logs and starting to get a feel for this sort of thing.

Log book is full and completely saturated.

Many thanks.

This is incredibly sneaky, but we found it straight away due to the comments in the logs (and having an engineer on board). Great cache.

01-Jan-10
Easy find but the cache is completely soaked. Looks like previous cachers have made an effort to provide additional log books and sealed bags, but its still getting wetter and wetter. TNLN.

Thanks.

Water getting into the cache though the log book is still dry.

Found this one in the POURING rain and had a lot of fun. Took nothing, added red rabbit.

Came for the views - see our pics.

Very grateful for the easy find.

Cheers

GeoLads loved crossing the log bridge to this one. GeoDad loved the fact it was a big box and easily found. Took Cooper Cow geocoin. Left Manny Gigantus.

Many thanks.

Never would have found this in a million years if we hadn't read all the logs. As it was, we found it in about 15 minutes, and were very impressed (and pleased with ourselves too). Great cache!!!

Thanks for opening our eyes to some seriously sneaky caching. Loved it.

30-Dec-09
Another one found in the pouring rain. Again, grateful for the easy find. Took nothing, left nothing (but muddy footprints).

Thanks for the cache.

Much giggling as we found this one by torchlight and wondered if we'd get arrested. Nice easy find, as long as you avoid the over-head guard spider.

Many thanks

Another search in torrential rain ... found the guardian but a long, hard look for the cache proved fruitless.

Beautiful place, even in the rain. Definitely need to come back here and explore some more. Nice easy find.

Took nothing. Added Boomerang Geo Coin and chess knight.

Thanks for bringing us here.

Our first micro, and our first (almost) night time cache found by torch light. Was guarded by a friendly green frog.

29-Dec-09
Two of us searched many possible hiding places for about half an hour but to no avail. The day was very overcast and we thought maybe we were at the wrong elevation so tried nearer the beach but still no luck.

28-Dec-09
Found with a little bit of looking.
Took Ben10, left furry notebook and Young Einstein.

Had a very, very quick look in torrential rain before retreating to the car and moving on to the next.

Easy find.
Took skipping rope and left rubber ball and yo-yo.

27-Dec-09
Found easily. Log book is soaked through and needs replacing.

Nice introduction to caching for GeoGrandpa and GeoGrandma being shown by GeoLads. Lovely view and a beautiful drive.

Added pink pony. Took geo coin boomerang and chess piece.

Thanks for a lovely cache.

I'm terribly embarrassed to log this as a DNF when it is apparently so easy to find. A couple of points became apparent in today's adventure:
1) Having a quick look at Google Maps before heading off is no substitute for actually having batteries in your GPS.
2) If you are running to this cache from Nerang, the journey involves one heartbreak hill after another - all the way there. Then you turn around and do it all again on the way back.

I checked the likely hiding spots in what I thought was the GZ, but without the GPS I was unable to come up with the right spot (or if I had the right spot then the cach eluded me).

Beautiful country side though, full of cows mournfully bellowing at the lunatic jogging past in the pouring rain. Will definitely have to head back to find this one. Might take the car next time though.

Cheers

Found it without any trouble.

Note that if you are coming on foot from Nerang on McLaren Rd you can get through a public access area that runs through what looks like a horse training area just after you cross the bridge over the Nerang River and this will bring you on to Koola Drive. Cuts out a couple of kms you would otherwise have to take by road.

Took nothing but found a decent cricket ball. It's now sitting on the picnic table if you are quick. Thanks for the cache.

Definitely grateful to have read the previous logs about finding access to this park.

Took Beaver Dude travel coin. Added Kanga Sailor.

Thanks for the cache.

30-Nov-09
Found it without too much searching. Don't get suckered into looking at the wrong tree.

Thanks for the cache. Nice run from Nerang.

No sign of the eagle nests any more, but the cache is still there safe and sound. No pencil in it though. Have to agree with previous loggers re southern rather than eastern location. You don't have to look too hard to find it. Took nothing but enjoyed the run from Nerang.

Thanks for the cache.

23-Nov-09
Returned for another crack at this one. Read all the logs, went alone so I was not distracted by impatient GeoLads, spent the entire time looking "koala-wards", but still no sign of this one. Disappointed because it sounds very cool and I was keen to see how it was done. Will give up until I hear confirmation that it still exists.

21-Nov-09
Great walk. Thanks for the cache.

Would we have found it without the clue? Very unlikely.

Failed to find this due to neglecting to bring food on the walk - ravenous Geo-Lads do not make for effective search efforts at the GZ. Had a quick dig around but nothing jumped out at me. Will have to come back and have another go with provisions this time.

Great spot!!!!

Easy find, nice park and nice run from Nerang.

Another one that you are better off following the road than trying any sneaky shortcuts if you are on foot and coming from Nerang.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Many thanks for the cache.

Well this one was an adventure/nightmare. Note the following:
1) If you are running to this from Nerang, there are NO shortcuts. You are better off following the road. Every street, path, and bush track runs into a river, very large fence, or private property. Trust me, I tried every single one of them.
2) Exactly as it appears on the map, the GZ is on the north side of the long stream - not between the stream and the fenced community on the south side as my GPS led me to initially believe.

I suffered for the art on this one!

Thanks for the cache.

Signed the log. Took nothing, left nothing, uttered a great deal of expletives.

14-Nov-09
Introduced some friends to geocaching with this one, so extra special thanks. Added some swaps, as well as geo coin and travel bug.

Many thanks.

Nice to have an easy find to start out the series. Cache does not have a pencil and I didn't have one so log book went unsigned. Someone has put a tube of Stingoze in the cache, which is a marvelously practical little treasure.

Thanks for this series of caches.

So I found 1 and 3 but not 2. Took almost exactly an hour to complete the series as a lunchtime run (with ten minutes spent fruitlessly searching for #2 and a number of double backs as the track headed off in the wrong direction). Pretty serious work out for the old legs, but I reckon if you're doing it on a MTB you'll be pushing it most of the way anyway!

There's moisture in the zip lock bag around this cache, but log etc in the cache is still dry.

Thank for this series of caches. Very much enjoyed the run, though the bush tick I picked up on the way was not a welcomed hitch hiker.

I spent 10 minutes looking for this with no luck. Noted that there may have been a fire through here since the last logged find, but thought I'd find a burnt up cache rather than nothing at all. Someone please convince me this one is still alive.

My futile search was overseen presumably to much amusement by the Grinning Cache Guardian - see pic.

09-Nov-09
Well I'm pretty new to this game, but pretty confident I would never in a million years have found this without reading all of the previous log entries. Specifically the revised coords, issues with light, and proximity to the track.

Additionally, if the cache is not replaced in the way it was intended, it is extremely hard to get hold of.

Canister has leaked and the log book and pencil are now a congealed mess that I couldn't actually get out of the canister (not that I tried all that hard - bluuuuuurk!!!) Definitely in need of some maintenance.

Thanks for the cache, and thanks to everyone for the clues.

08-Nov-09
Another nice easy one - much appreciated by the Geo-Lads.

Added a small rubber ball just because it fitted (and because it had been "accidentally" taken from the previous cache.

Many thanks.
