Logs for emetem

12-Feb-14
We stayed overnight at the lovely campsite of Ngaherenga. Te Kuiti was the place for second breakfast Wink You have lots of capitals here in NZ - this far we've seen at least carrots, kumara, mussels and now this. Quite... an impressive statue, uh. The cache was nice and easy, thank you & greetings from Finland!

We needed a small-sized cache in (or near) Hamilton since we got an old travel bug who wanted to get in there. Hope the owner collects it! Europe, hmm, the day after tomorrow we will be at home. So this is kind of Final… Wink Thanks for sharing this & greetings from Finland!

As some kind of birdwatchers we thought this would be the cache for us. Well the fenced area was closed from public for quite a long time as they are poisoning the pests in there. No worries, we sought and found the cache! The camo was good: there were hundreds of invertebrates under it Wink TFTC & greetings from Finland!

We had a nice stop here on our way from Palmerston North to Te Kuiti. Weather was perfect: sun was shining and the Tasman Sea was calm. And loved those curious young cows! Smile TFTC & greetings from Finland!

This was our 500th find, yippee!!! For celebrating the round number we wanted to have a cache with a nice name. This was the best choice in the area we were driving through! TFTC & greetings from Finland!

We had a second breakfast in Te Kuiti on our way to Waitomo Smile Oh wait, there is a cache right here! It was an easy find once we figured out the hint… But the gazebo was so nice with all the stories and carvings and little handprints! Thank you for sharing this & greetings from Finland!

We have sought a cache almost every place we have stopped on our road trip. This was Waitomo’s one. The box itself wasn’t hidden at all, should it be? After finding the cache we had a short bushwalk, the one that iSite claimed to be one of the country’s bests Smile Indeed it was quite nice with all the ferns, caves and creeks! TFTC & greetings from Finland!

10-Feb-14
We had a terrible day: waited delayed Interislander ferry for five hours in Picton. The whole day spent in terminal or ferry, uh! After getting to NI we drove straight to Palmerston North. Got a nice motel room, slept well and the new day was much better! Smile We have found a cache from every town we have stayed overnight: this was Palmy's one. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

09-Feb-14
We came back to Blenheim after travelling around South Island for a week. Have had amazing time! Smile We stayed again in a lovely B&B nearby this cache. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

08-Feb-14
Thank you for sharing this monument and an old picture of the Hodgson house! Sometimes you just forget Christchurch is not the only place in NZ that have had destructive earthquakes. We decided to stay overnight in this small town, have pints of cider and sleep well. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

07-Feb-14
Needed one glacier-view cache on our way so quick stop here Smile But this is probably a micro, not a small one, isn’t it? While waiting a muggle free moment the fellow geocacher came to the place – nice to meet others! TFTC & greetings from Finland!

A quick stop. Wait, you should go to the rainforest? With flipflops? Oh they did just fine. There was a curious fantail looking after the cache. Thank you & greetings from Finland! ps. the content of the cache is quite damp and smelly and there wasn’t any travel bugs…

What a lovely weather and a view! A quick stop & grab, TFTC & greetings from Finland!

A quick stop on our way from Greymouth to Westport. The box was wet inside and we tried to dry it a bit, luckily the weather was sunny… TFTC & greetings from Finland!

Hmmh, quite weird monoliths. Hollow ones Wink We had a nice stop here after a dusty drive on the gravel road. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

06-Feb-14
We had a nice stop here. It was a very warm day and we bought some ice cream, what huge scoops for that price! Smile For some reason we couldn’t find the cache, can’t believe it. In Finland we would call that “puusilmä” (piece of a wood in the eyes) – sometimes you just don’t see the cache even though you should. Thanks anyway, nice bridge!

We had a lovely evening walk via Rob Roy Glacier track. Weather was sunny and calm. The early moon rose above the glacier, beautiful! The cache was an easy find, quite an obvious camo Wink We decided to release our precious new travel bug Kimi the Kiwi. Hope he has a long and safe journey ahead! TFTC & greetings from Finland!

We had a lovely evening in Otago Peninsula and peaceful night in a cozy motel. One cache from every place to stay overnight so this was the Dunedin’s one. An easy find in a public holiday. Good bye East Coast, we are heading to Wanaka and West Coast! TFTC & greetings from Finland!

05-Feb-14
What a lovely evening on the Otago Peninsula...! Today was cold and windy - so perfect weather to see royal albatrosses! We took a albatross tour and saw some juvenile albatrosses taking off and flying nearby and the older ones guarding their nests. And we did see a tiny albatross chick as well, so cute!

After dusk we watched the penguins coming to shore. It is possible to see them very well from the road if you have decent binoculars so no tour costs Wink Also, after dusk there were many little ones running over the coastal road, be extra careful when driving!

Oh, the cache. It was an easy find while waiting for penguins. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

03-Feb-14
Down we go, nicely and easily. One cache on our way, with an obvious camoflage. Name to the log and down, down, want to see penguins! No penguins? Uh. Up we go. Never forget the fact that there is always an uphill after a downhill Wink TFTC & greetings from Finland!

We slept in Blenheim on our way to Kaikoura. Found an excellent B&B! One cache from every place to stay overnight so this was the Blenheim’s one Wink Quick and easy in the morning. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

We had a nice evening walk on beautiful Kaikoura Peninsula. But wait, suddenly we were there middle of nowhere reading about shearwaters – where’s the sea? No birds (not even sheep). Thought this to be a coastal walk Wink But anyway, thanks for the cache & greetings from Finland!

Life on the edge. Amazing place! Nice walk we had in the beautiful summer evening. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

02-Feb-14
We had a lovely two days paddling trip in Abel Tasman. Wonderful weather, beautiful views, excellent camping place and just two of us paddling around. Before leaving towards Kaikoura we picked up one cache, this one. It wasn’t hidden at all so it was a very easy find. Nice park and birds in there! TFTC & greetings from Finland!

31-Jan-14
What a beautiful view! We had a nice lunch break here before continuing to Nelson. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

30-Jan-14
Carrot Capital Big Grin You do have a lot of nice places here in NZ! We were overnight in beautiful camping site near Ohakune and woke up with sun and the sounds of tuis. Perfect! Now heading to Wellington. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

We bougth some lunch from a supermarket on our way from Tongariro to Wellington. This was a nice spot to have a lunch. A herd of beautiful black Angus bulls were watching us eating... A local Kiwi told us they are the best breeding studs and worth of $5 000-12 000 each! Loved the curious fantail too.

The story behind the monument gave us something to think. Thank you for sharing the history of the place! Also TFTC & greetings from Finland!

A quick stop on our way from Tongariro to Wellington. What a road and views! Something familiar comparing to the European Alps. The cache was an easy find even if there were quite many places to hide. The colour of the box is not black anymore... TFTC & greetings from Finland!

29-Jan-14
We had a wonderful day in Tongariro! First walked a little bit up to the Mt.Ruapehu and then had a nice walk to the Silica Rapids. Got some new bird species for us from there. Weather was perfect, no clouds and so warm! This cache and the mounds were an excellent end for the day, thank you! Greetings from Finland!

28-Jan-14
Oh lovely Taupo! Had a nice time there wandering around and soaking in hot water. There were plenty of muggles around but the bird-watching trick (with binoculars) worked as always. And birds there were! TFTC & greetings from Finland!

27-Jan-14
We had a nice evening in Rotorua - and delicious dinner at Fat Dog! This was an easy find, completely muggle-free area Wink TFTC & greetings from Finland!

Hello Rotorua! There's something familiar in you... wait... oh the lovely Iceland! But still we're happy we don't have any volcanic activity at home, this is kind of scary Wink The cache was an easy find. Took a
travel bug. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

We really needed a break on our way from Auckland to Rotorua. Ruru thought so as well Wink Mr emetem was the monkey as always but didn't need the monkey wrench. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

25-Jan-14
Stopped here on our way to the Kauri forest. This was a real grab'n'go cache. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

Next three weeks travelling around suberb NZ, great! We were on the way to pick up our rental car and found a couple of caches while walking... The park was beautiful and quite peaceful in this Saturday morning. The cache was an easy find. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

Next three weeks travelling around suberb NZ, great! We were on the way to pick up our rental car and found a couple of caches while walking... The park was beautiful and quite peaceful in this Saturday morning. We thought this cache to be somewhere else than it was, but finally we found it Smile TFTC & greetings from Finland!

24-Jan-14
This was a bit tricky just because of all the muggles. Lots of kisses, some shoe laces and scratching the ankle - and there it was! TFTC & greetings from Finland!

This was our first find in NZ! We have been very concerned about Arctic oil drilling lately. End of the last year there was a big issue when Russia imprisoned 30 activists+crew and seizured the ship Arctic Sunrise just because of peaceful protest against oil drilling in Pechora Sea. Thank you for sharing this place and cache: we shouldn't forget these incidents. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

22-Jan-14
Dropped our own TB, Oxley Kaylee

20-Jan-14
After a great surfing lesson (ouch, my whole body hurts!) we grabbed this nice cache. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

19-Jan-14
We came back to beautiful Port Macquarie for a couple of days. Had a nice walk in Macquarie Nature Reserve, so many birds! We had visited the Koala Hospital already but after seeing those little fluffy creatures, forgot to seek the cache... TFTC & greetings from Finland!

17-Jan-14
What a view! Crawling up (with the car Wink) the hill was definitely worth of it. There were no clouds and we could see the whole valley. The cache was an easy find. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

We had a lovely evening near Broken River watching platypuses feeding and diving <3 Saw probably three of them, two were very near of us. You have such amazing places here in Australia! This cache was on a beautiful place, but not hidden at all. Should it have been? TB out. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

After a wonderful drive up to the mountain we took a quick stop here. The cache was easy to find, but why so small in such a nice place? Anyway TFTC & greetings from Finland!

16-Jan-14
This was our last day in beautiful Airlie Beach, time to head back to South again. The cache was very near of the public pathway but still very safe, liked it a lot! The view from the cache was awesome. We left our precious little TB (Hanna Hauki – Hanna the Pike) there, hope she has a safe trip Smile TFTC & greetings from Finland!

11-Jan-14
We stayed overnight in Mackay. Before heading to North we wanted to seek one cache from there as we had done in every earlier town we have stopped on our road trip. This cache was a good choice: nice little park and muggle-free area. Thought it to be a regular one but it was a bit smaller Wink We took the Travel Unicorn -GC with us. Would have left one TB but the box was too small. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

Very soon we’re reaching the Northest point of our East Coast road trip: Whitsundays! We stopped in Proserpine and tried to find a WIFI but the library was closed already. Oh well, let’s log a cache instead Smile The park was nice. The cache itself was an easy find – nice to see a big box for a while! Too bad there weren’t any travel bugs… hope someone has just taken them and will log them later. We thought for a second or two if we dare to leave one brand new Finnish one ("Firebird Turbo" Travel Bug) there but decided to give a change. Please take it far with you and remember to log it! Smile TFTC & greetings from Finland!

09-Jan-14
OOOH! MARY POPPINS!!! Ms.emetem was extremely pleased to meet her great idol. While she was having a nice chat with The Nanny (How is your day? – Oh, and have the children behaved?), mr.emetem logged the cache. Ms.emetem couldn’t help singing Spoonful of Sugar and Supercalifragicisticexpialidoucous. Thank you so much & greetings from Finland! Smile

We had to do a shortcut to funny-named Murwillumbah just because ms.emetem’s godmother had once talked to someone from there and we wanted to take a photo for her Big Grin But the little town was nicer than we thought! We also got a couple of new bird species to our Australian bird watching list. The cache was an easy find. TFTC & greetings from Finland!

This was an easy one. Actually, the cache wasn’t hidden at all and we tried to add some camouflage. In the evening there were hundreds of Rainbow Lorikeets in the trees. TFTC & greetings from Finland!
