Logs for j2dad
01-Nov-19
I was coming up to visit my brother, but was planning on doing some caching around the visit. This was one of the primary targets for the day, as I wanted to add another old one to my stats. I had already completed the Jasmer with the May 2000 Beverly cache. I wasn't sure about this area at this time of year in terms of hunting so I made sure I had my blaze orange on. It was a nice hike to the final, and didn't think it was too bad to start. The downhill portion I didn't think was too bad, though I was hoping I wasn't going to slide on all of the acorns. Coming back up this hill though had me breathing heavy. The sky was a bit grey today, so what remained of the fall color wasn't really popping too much, but it was a great view from here. I had wanted to do the nearby earthcache, but from reading some of the other logs, I decided to forgo this one from here. Thanks for continuing to maintain this one.

This was cache number two for the day, but it was also Traditional Cache number three thousand, and also the final placed month needed to complete the Jasmer challenge (at least for today, since tomorrow starts another month). With the cool weather today, I guess that was keeping everyone inside, as I don't think I saw a single person in the neighborhood while I was here. Thanks for the maintenance over the years on this one.
Another one of the positives of my job change a year ago was potential business trips to Atlanta. Well, almost a year after I started, I found myself with a short notice business trip to Atlanta. But just enough advance notice that I could plan for an early departure from home, allowing me to get to Atlanta just after noon, and go find the last two caches I needed to complete my Jasmer. After picking up the rental car, I made my way north and found a parking area. The day was a bit cool for early spring, but actually a great day for a walk in the park. I headed over to GZ and found the cache easily. I swapped a trackable, discovered those that were there, and headed back to the car. Thanks for the maintenance on this one over the years.

On the way to the Texas Challenge, this was one of the goals on the way up. Definitely needed a GPS to figure out the roads around here, but we navigated well. Nice little walk to the top of the bluff, and a great view in all directions. Spied several fossilized oysters shaken loose by the shoes and weather. Thanks for the cache.
