Logs for schwandt

In December, 2016, I headed to Washington state in the western United States to visit my mother for Christmas. While there, I hosted my Boxing Day event and the **GeoCrackers** all attended. At one point, Mrs. GeoCracker lit up with the realization that northern Virginia was quite near to Washington, DC in the eastern United States - and that I lived there! She asked me if I had participated in the hunt for this globe-spanning, multi-country cache hunt, which I had not. She quickly recruited me and went to the website to find a NZ partner. She's very good at the recruiting game and had **TheCoblets** lined up before I headed back to the east coast.

TheCoblets soon had stage 1 located and sent the coordinates for stage 2 to the team. I was not in a rush to get out there because the GeoCrackers were not planning a Netherlands visit until June.

However, plans changed and they had a January visit confirmed. With that deadline, I headed to the District of Columbia last week and retrieved the information we needed. While I there, I ran into a lovely woman who was curious about my activity. I chatted with her and accused her of being from NZ. She quickly corrected me and let me know she was from Australia (oops!). However, she also said that she moved to Washington 30+ years ago and her accent had been out of practice. Smile

I sent the stage 3 information to the GeoCrackers in time for them to work a search into their Netherlands visit and they had a successful search. This set up TheCoblets for the final find, which was completed to all of our credit! Smile

Thanks to the **GeoCrackers** for pulling everyone together and encouraging participation. Thanks to **TheCoblets** for completing half of the finds. Thanks to the **multi-national CO's** for placing and maintaining the cache! Thanks to everyone for the fun! Smile

(I realize that I can claim a find now. However, that will wait until I visit New Zealand. Smile Or it might wait until I change my mind. Wink

I had guests in town so we were touring the sights last evening. This is my 2400th cache - and worthy of that, I think. Smile E-mail has been sent. Thanks for the cache.

My out-of-town guests got a kick out of this. Smile Appropriately, this was our last stop on a tour of the monuments last night. Thanks for the cache.

The good news about having out-of-town guests is that you get to visit the monuments. And when you visit the monuments, you drive close enough to some of the lesser-known sites to be able to do some caching. Smile This was one of those sites for me and my guests. E-mail has been sent. Thanks for the cache.

I had a trackable that had a mission to visit the White House, so this was perfect. Smile Thanks for the cache.

I impressed out of town guests with my knowledge of this building last night. Smile Thanks for the cache and history lesson.

Coincidentally, I was visiting with guests from the state in question. Smile Thanks for the cache.

I had friends in the area and we were touring the sights. They weren't ready to be a sight at this location, so an e-mail was sent rather than the photo. Thanks for the cache.

After attending the NoVaGO event, I joined up with Team NoVaGO (which we signed on most of our finds) for an excellent hike around the lake. Had a great team and made many finds, including this one. Given its longevity, this one was great to find. Thanks for the cache.

Yanksgm and I hopped Metro to the area for lunch before another type of scavenger hunt. Spotted the site on our way to the restaurant and tracked down the info. Thanks for the cache.
