Thurraphobis and I went on a nighttime stealth mission to drop off The DPS TB. Mission was accomplished with great style and grace in characteristic zilla-phobis style.
Bug drop was successful - please make sure it moves on quickly to a high-traffic area.
Picked up the "Get out of TB Jail free TB"... will look for an applecart to upset!

I was all excited about my first Aussie FTF, but it was not to be. I spent about an hour poking in leafy piles, looking under rocks and acting like I wasn't doing anything weird everytime a gang of muggles tramped by
Unfortunately it was not to be, which is a shame because I rode my bike to Merewether Beach and walked from there.
My GPS was performing unspectacularly (it told me I was 2.3 km from target, shortly after letting me know I was 3 m away - I'm just not that good) and was getting some very uninspiring accuracy readings. A nice hint for people who invest way too much energy in geocaching to go home unfulfilled would be much appreciated...
Still, it was a lovely day, a good walk, and a swim at the end, so how bad can it be?
Thanks,
Sianzilla

What a beautiful day, and a fun cache. I biked to Merewether beach and hoofed it from there. Gave more than a passing thought to trying some 'hanging out' myself...
Took me a few months to settle down and do some caching here, but today reminded me how fun it all can be!
I finally (and belatedly) dropped off the Penguin TB. Poor little guy has been stuffed in my luggage since we left Alaska. Also left a toy car in the (now very full) cache container.
Took Nothing, Signed Log.
Thanks for the cache

I'm a bit new to the area - I'm looking forward to meeting some fearless bush crusaders and I'll regale you with tales of listening for bears while bashing around the undergrowth!

Am starting to adapt to the new climate. Is anyone else scared of digging around and finding a sleepy snake??? I'm working on overcoming my creepy-crawly phobia...

Thurraphobis and I finally cracked it! It took us three days, including two attempts at wp3 and some serious zen meditation to find the answer, and we got assualted by flies. Also nearly got locked in at Prospect Reservoir.
All-in-all and excellent geocaching experience!

First find in Australia! Team Sianzilla went on a geocaching expidition with old buddy Thurraphobis. He spotted the cache. I used to think of this as the scary old church when I was a kid. Actually I still kind of think of it as the scary old church.

[Here are two hints for people with limited time in Tairua or kids they want to bring along]
Cache may not be accessible at high tide.
Bring a pair of shoes along if you're a tenderfoot like me.

A little concerned about finding this one, given the last few logs, but it was in place and in fairly good order. I put a new log book in a ziploc bag inside. Did not bring a pencil- might be a good leave for the next geocacher.

Beautiful, albeit chilly, walk. Seanzilla found the cache and Gemmazilla identified the appropriate plants.

A Brisk walk indeed! We worked up a bit of a sweat after 12 hours on the plane from SFO yesterday...surely a good thing. Missed the cache on the way to the falls ~ good thing this wasn't a loop hike!
