Logs for spiceoflight

09-Apr-07
So is that the African Swallow? Played Trolls and goats and found it after a short search. TNLN

I heard the frogs! Lots of very active wasps. Took Pens left sunglasses holder

Picked up TB Eiffel and hope to drop it near a French sounding Town. Thank goodness for GeoHarps dog to distract the muggles. And big sister who is just starting out with geocaching as she had a pen. The next person to visit might need to bring a spare pen as there is none in the cache.

Found with GeoHarps, TNLN.

08-Apr-07
Found this with GeoHarps around sunset. We believe we may have walked past more Geocachers as we headed for the car. TNLN

Lots of Muggles on this Easter Sunday afternoon. Nice area, good to see some green grass TNLN

Easter Sunday, a drive with relatives from Perth. Took a while to get break in traffic due to all the Sunday drivers. Picked up Bobs Police Squad Geocoin, left LED keyring.

Another first name cache on the way to Geelong with the Perth relatives. TNLN

29-Aug-04
After standing next to where the cache ultimately was, scratching my head.....I finally found it after about ten minutes! Sure was glad nobody else was with me, they'd be laughing at me! The day was overcast and the view nearby was not as good as indicated. Took Aussie tattoos, left Frog plant ties.

02-May-04
Having visited friends and eating after the Geelong cache-opoly, we decided late in the day to try to get at least one cache before we went home. Sat and watched the carousel for a while, scratched our head as to why someone who was standing waste deep, fully clothed in the ocean pool was getting upset that his girlfriend who was also fully clothed and dry didn't want to join him in the pool (almost dusk with a very cold breeze blowing). With "Old Spice" carrying a hamstring injury (requiring frequent stops) we managed to find the cache by torchlight. Took Tiger balm...should have found this one early in the day would have come in handy, left Dory(Nemo)light.

What a great day! Arrived late, didn't know what we were looking for, "Old Spice" was carrying a hamstring injury and was doped up on painkillers, got the wooden spoon.....but had the time of our lives! Thanks Geojo and both Juzmacs for all the effort you put into this day. It was our first caching event and it was worth coming down from the mountains just to meet up with the other caching teams. To make up for our dismal performance we decided much later in the day to do another cache, one of Geojo's walking caches...remember Old Spice's hammie!!!!...we finally bagged it in the dark searching under bushes with a torch!

26-Apr-04
What a peaceful place! GPS was the only thing jumping, well there was the occasional bird hopping along the path. We were fortunate that we came the day after a large rainfall so we had some water movement over the rocks. Definitely coming back to this site again for a bit of peace and quiet. Took shaker lids, left clip on torch and xmas decoration.

We found this one after only a short search. It had been found previously by a non-cacher 12/4/04 (school holidays)and had not been properly hidden. They had also placed a cigarette lighter into the cache which I removed and placed a sheet of stickers in there instead.
Lovely place, wish I could have stayed a little longer.

24-Apr-04
Team Spiceoflight will be there!

18-Apr-04
Found this at the end of a short interstate trip. Didn't have the description sheet but thought we would give it a go anyway. Took a while to get to GZ as "old spice's" artificial knees didn't like the long grass and frequent hidden holes. GPS was playing up so left it to try to sort itself out and did the think like a cacher act. Took two attempts in the same spot before I moved the right thing. Took emergency blanket and left bag closer clips.

Lots of muggles (school holidays) but managed to time the extraction and replacement between groups. It was not difficult to sit and wait for the right opportunity to do so with such a lovely view. Took Christmas decoration, left can opener.

12-Apr-04
Came across the Hall family when looking for this cache. With Team Geoharps, the Hall Family and half the Spiceoflight team, we had 9 people all looking under every bush that was left standing after grading and harvesting the area. What wasn't disturbed by muggles in the area was scrutinised intensely by the combined teams.... No luck!

08-Apr-04
Found with the Geoharps, what a lovely peaceful area. There was a hive of bees in a nearby tree, but didn't interupt our search and find. Took, cold shoulder and left a sponge ball.

16-Feb-04
ok, the track is totally overrun with blackberries now, couldn't go that way. Had to rock hop down the creek and scramble, hands and knees under low bushes and shutie eyes and push through a couple of bramble patches (still pulling out thorns.)Finally arrived at GZ and found it fairly easily after that. Then took a few deep breaths and scrambled/dived and pushed my way back out again. Swapped yoyo out for Frog tin in. Definitely need tough clothing/footwear for this one.

02-Feb-04
Looked for this last on the way back from a great days caching. Have since looked at other logs and we too could not find this particular cache

01-Feb-04
Had trouble figuring out what was walking track and what was driving track, so we parked the car on a walking/driving track and soon found the cache. Swapped a magnetic fridge clip out for a Children's hair clip set. The Niece had visited here with her school and spent her time reminiscing.

Found after heading for the bonus cache first. Very easy to spot, even from a distance, have placed it in the vegetation right next to where we found it, makes the camouflage paint work look better! Swapped nothing.

We found this one after I realised I hadn't changed the coordinates in the GPS and Niece's boyfriend was standing in the middle of the street with it saying that there is no pothole big enough to hide a cache here!!! Oops, they grabbed an icecream whilst I changed the coordinates, jump back in the car and a short trip later and we had bagged it! Swapped a duster for a photo frame.

23-Jan-04
Although we didn't have very suitable footwear (This was a take a Niece for a drive in new car turning into a caching expedition and not being suitably dressed type of exercise), we managed to scramble on loose leaves and sticks to find this cache. It appears that the lid of this cache has been attacked by a rodent. Lots of little teeth marks have gnawed a hole in it and is now letting in water. Have returned the cache with hole facing down. Only one parcel was wrapped in tissue paper, so I took that one, and left another wrapped in green shiny paper. (I used the old tissue paper to wrap something else in the cache up) Maybe others can bring extra tissue paper to wrap the other stuff there, if that is ok with Embi. Bring some more snap lock bags too as things are a little damp thanks to the rodent! I have gone gold panning in this area as a young child and have always loved the place.

19-Jan-04
Found it after spending a pleasant half hour eating lunch (at 4pm!...a lot of dead end tracks when driving in from the south!)
There were four of us in the group so we could do the walk towards each other thingie very easily. Cache was a little exposed so very easy to see, even from a distance. Was also a little damp, so we took everything out and placed it on a log to dry while we went exploring the site. (by the way a very large redback spider had made its home on the outside of the cache. Take care when retrieving it as this area is known to have a few of these critters around.) Tried to figure out where they would have built the toilets for the school, we put them somewhere near point C, but others may find a better site. Replaced everything back into the cache and swapped screwdriver (out) for a passport pouch(in)

Allowed a new GPS user to direct me to the cache site. Made for an interesting trip with my new 4wd! Discovered the best track in and out AFTER finding the cache. Lovely area, we were serenaded by cicadas the entire time.
Took green bead bangle and left Kids hairclip/ties set.

14-Dec-03
Took a little finding, poking my nose in where I shouldn't have. I love this place, I used to camp and drive through this area many times. Took Key holder, left screw driver set. And dropped off TB Kookie Kookaburra. After all, he is a member of the KINGfisher family. And is always laughing!!! He sure deserves a stay in this cache.

last one for the day after spending the afternoon 4WDing up in the mountains. took out candle, left stapler set.

A few things crossed the roads on the way up to here. Had to stop to let an echidna cross the road, then two swamp wallabies, we sat up on the top and watched wedge tailed eagles. Found a trig point I didn't even know about. Its amazing what you can find when your GPSr is playing up. Anyway, swapped out mini clamps and swapped in passport bag. Lovely views!!!

13-Dec-03
awwww...I thought it would be later in January. I can't make that day, but I wish everyone who can make it a super fun day!!!

01-Dec-03
Realised I didn't have the sheet for this one, but thought we would give it a go anyway. Took time out to smell the surroundings on the way to GZ. Left flower coasters and took gnome pothanger.

Didn't have much time to look, but hadn't read the other logs until now. Realised that although my GPS "supposedly" had me at GZ, we must have been on the wrong side. Had come to that conclusion just before we gave up, but didn't have time to approach from other side.

Last cache after a great day introducing my Sister and Nieces to the pleasures of geocaching. Was almost too dark to find it, but managed to avoid the spiders to fish out the cache. Swapped Nemo straw....Niece #2 fell in love with it....for a "Cat" tin with lollies. Thanks Keryn!

Spent quite a while looking for this one. Had ankle biters with me so couldn't hang around too long....too exposed, people out and about and my GPS was playing up!

Having now read earlier logs, I think the fisherman must be a permanent fixture! After being attacked by the vegetation, finally gave up as it was a warm day and the fisherman told me he had seen a snake as thick as his arm and at least a metre and a half long...thats why he was wearing gumboots! It was a lovely place though, with a very pleasant outlook.

Very interesting bit of history. Quite a lot of people around and had to sit and "rest" until nobody was looking. Took cricket, left can opener and released hundreds of earwigs that had made their home in the cache. Managed to find the stone and get a picture.....(glad nobody was watching as to get a decent picture, I had to balance with one foot on a wooden stake whilst being pushed against the cyclone fence for stability as the grass was too long to get a clear shot!)

Loved the ingenuity of this cache. Had a few possible sites to choose from but managed to find it in the end.

Lovely area, GPS was playing up and had GZ out in the middle of an open area. Went to where I thought it should be and found it straight away. Took butterfly keytag and left folding pliers.

29-Nov-03
Found on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Took my sister and two Nieces with me. Nobody else around fortunately. Was a little wet inside and the geocaching page will need replacing. Everything in the plastic bags however are fine. After much discussion/debate and negotiation between 7 and 5 year olds....swapped out plastic ball, swapped in "sheep tin" (with sweets).

Whilst busy walking backward and forward trying to get a fix on the GPS......my sister (who came with me for a first time experience at geocaching)found it!!! Without the GPS!!!! Although we did get a rough idea of where it was initially with the GPS... that's my story and I am sticking to it! Swapped out Eeyore stickers and swapped in small coffee mug.

10-Nov-03
We got sprung eating tim tams during a pause in finding this cache. Team Two + Four came up just as we devoured the last ones.....we would have shared.....honest!!! Thanks to these great people, they assisted us.... newbies at geocaching.... to learn a little more about the GPS and what to look for in finding a Maccamob cache. Thanks Maccamob and Two+Four. Took personal alarm and TB Kookie.

07-Nov-03
Parked the car down the road and walked back to cache. Easy to find just a bit difficult wading through the freshly cut long grass. Had nice sunshine to walk in though. Took out sewing kit, left pegless clothesline.

Found cache exposed, bucket is split and had let in water and lots and lots of ants. Needs a new sheet....its wet and covered in dissolved lollypop. Put log and anything that was not too soggy into another plastic bag but it will need fixing. Took nothing, left Magnifying sheet.......come to think of it...took lots of angry ants....still finding them on me 3 hours later! Must remember to put plastic bags and caching sheet in my pack b4 I go caching again.

Found it after looking in the wrong place....still learning to use the gps.....got the niece to take a photo of me being a tree.

Great cache, glad I had my niece with me, would never have got it otherwise. Knew where it was...she got it! Took Pooh Bear Pez, left magnetic memo holders

28-Oct-03
Found on the way home from work. Third cache since I finally got my car back from repairer. Going back on a sunnier day to enjoy the view. Took tennis ball, left Hawaii keyring.

26-Oct-03
I love this place! Its been one of my favourites for a number of years. Great to have had another reason to visit. Found at 4:28pm, nobody around coz it was a cold day. Didn't exchange anything as I would have had to remove everything to fit in what I had...sorry. This is only my second cache find, but have the family hooked now. Thought I had found it initially as I found a small "Wedding Bubbles" bottle hidden near a bush..., it had a lovely white dove on the lid. Tried to open it and discovered.....it was a "wedding bubbles" bottle....unused...O o O o O o 0 O O.

19-Oct-03
Found at 6:20pm, my first cache and loving it! Left coin for more recharge.
