Logs for woodwalker9

Okay, this is the cache that mathseeker and I had traveled almost 600 miles to come hunt. We had been making plans for this trip for the last few weeks and were praying for good weather. Yesterday was terrible. It was cold and rainy but the weather forecast was better for today. That tuned out to be the case with highs near 60 with plenty of sunshine and blue sky. The trip across the lake was fantastic. Jay from Lanier Aqua Rental was a great host and I highly recommend to everyone who doesn't have their own watercraft, they hook up with him. He is very cacher friendly with very reasonable rates and knows the best approach to all the caches. Jay's assistant Spencer went with us and actually took the walk into GZ too. A very nice young man and was an added treat to our trip.
We finally made it to the beach and headed out towards GZ. After a short walk we were closing in on the hiding spot. Mathseeker spotted a good hiding spot and that proved to be the right spot. We finally had this one in hand. We were all smiles as we signed the log.
Thank you so much for keeping this old cache going. We really had a great time and know that this one is one that we will never forget.

Mathseeker and I are very serious caches and were thrilled when we noticed this challenge while caching in this area. We stopped by and signed the log sheet and were soon on the hunt of another one.
Thank you for placing this fun challenge cache here and for helping make this such a fun weekend for us.

Mathseeker loves puzzles and worked this one out last night. We stopped by today and added our names to the log sheet.
Thank you for the fun puzzle and for adding to our fantastic weekend caching in West Tennessee.

Mathseeker and I are having such a great time caching in West Tennessee today. We had pulled off the Interstate to try for a few of the local hides and spotted this one on the GPSr. We were soon on the hunt and had this one in hand shortly. Good hide.
Thank you for placing this one here and for adding to the fantastic day we are having. We really appreciate it.

Mathseeker and I were caching in this area today and this was the next cache on our list. We had noticed that this one had been replaced recently and that it had not been found since being replaced, but the cache we found here had several names on the log sheet with older dates. We believe that we may have found the original cache. At any rate, we were thrilled to be able to add our names to the log sheet and added this one to our found column.
Thank you for the fun cache and for adding to the great day we had today caching in West Tennessee.

Mathseeker and I are on a weekend road trip to the Jackson area for a little geocaching and doing a few of the LTL caches along the way. She had already found this one on a previous trip, but insisted that I stop and give it a try. I parked within a few feet of the cache and soon had the log in hand. I added my name, placed the cache back as found, and headed on down the road.
Thank you for this fun cache and for adding to this fun series.

Mathseeker and I had been looking for a place to cache this weekend and she spotted all the caches in this area, so we decided to make the trip to West Tennessee for a fun weekend. We stopped at this one and it didn't take but a minute to spot this nice hide. We added our names to the log sheet and placed the cache back as found.
Thank you for placing this really fun cache and for adding to all our fun this weekend.

Mathseeker and I stopped to give this one a try as we traveled to the Jackson area for a weekend of geocaching. As we pulled up to GZ we weren't sure where it could be but soon spotted a good place to look. Sure enough it proved to be the right spot and we soon had the umbrella in hand.
Thank you for this fun cache and for adding to the fantastic weekend we had in West Tennessee. We really had a great time.

Mathseeker loves taking pictures of markers and once we spotted the one here, we would have had to stop even if there had not been a cache here. The cache made for extra bonus for us and we were glad to add our names to the log sheet..
Caches that show us history, even some local history, are our favorite hides and we really appreciate you placing a cache here for us to come hunt.

This one was a quick find as your coordinatess were right on the money. I wasn't sure what to expect from the name, but when I saw where my GPSr was pointing me, it all made sense. Thanks for a fun one and for helping make for a great day of geocaching.

Nice cache in a very busy spot. Really hard not to be seen here. Just as I drove up, several people came by to check out the used truck that is for sale close by. Had to wait them out, but it was a really fun find. Thanks for this one. TNSL left American Eagle ink pen.

This is Greers Ferry Dam located near Heber Springs, Arkansas on the Little Red River. Arkansas State highway 25 crosses the top of the dam and is the main route north from Heber Springs.

The dam is 1704 ft. in length. It is 243 ft. high. Lake elevation at the top of the conservation pool is 461.26 ft. Elevation at top of flood pool is 482 ft. Shoreline length at top of conservation pool is 276 miles. Shoreline length at top of flood control pool is 343 miles. Water shed of the reservoir is 1,146 sq. miles. Total storage capacity is 2.8 million acft. Surface area of the reservoir is about 40,000 acres. The lake provides water for 3 water systems. Currently, 30,000 households receive their water from Greers Ferry Lake.

The powerhouse contains two 48,000 KWH generators. Total generation in 2002 was 208,448 Mega Watt Hours. Discharge from lake for generation in 2002 was 1,221,539 acft. Hydropower expenditure in 2002 was $2.5 million. Hydropower revenue in 2002 was $4.35 million.

Besides the benefits of clean power generation, the lake also provides all types of recreation, including skiing, scuba diving, fishing, sail boats, etc. There are numerous nature trails around the lake and hundreds of campsites.

Because the water released during generation is so cold, the river below the dam provides an ideal environment for trout, including Rainbow and Brown. The world record Brown trout was caught in the river below Greers Ferry Dam. There is also a trout hatchery located on the river below the dam and trout from this hatchery are shipped for release into other streams both in Arkansas and surrounding states.

Greers Ferry Dam was dedicated on October 3, 1963 by President John F. Kennedy. This was one of the last, if not the last, public acts by President Kennedy. Just over a month later he would be shot in Dallas.
