Logs for yeebarr

Went out again with family + few friends.

Unfortunately too many muggles out n' about for us to give this a decent search.

Will need to try again sometime soon!

Whoops! Walked on the "wrong side" at first (that's what you get for letting a newbie hold the GPS for you) but eventually found it!

Unfortunately a bit of construction work ruined the view so it felt like a bit of a hard slog (especially with 2 young kids up the pathways!)

Still - a finds a find, so reasonably happy.

(P.S. Ivan-swag thought the cache should have been hidden 2 feet to the left! Don't ask me why!)

Darn it! Decided to go for one more at the end of the day 'cause this looked like a beauty!

The view here was amazing; great place to watch the sunset and just soak in the atmosphere!

Unfortunately we couldn't find the cache - as much as Ivan-Swag tried his best! (Me? I was just too tired and took in the view... Smile)

Will definitely try this one again!

Huzzah! Found it this time (went on a church picnic and made it one of the games to find it - God bless free labour!)

12 people looking and finally got it!

I think we were too "timid" in our search last time.

I believe one of the group swapped asolar calculator for water bombs.

Thanks SWAGgers - will have to catch up to learn some geocaching tips sometime! Very Happy

Ack! Too many geo-muggles out today so NO way for me to snoop around! A nice location though; only there by chance so might not get to come by again...ah well! Still enjoyed the hunt!

A nice find!

Had some friends organise a picnic in the park nearby and decided to have a look at this one; again it was a newbie who found the spot before me (yay for them, duh for me!)

Wonderful cache! Wish I was going overseas now to take some of the cool travel bugs! Smile

Kids (as always) wanted to "swag-swap" so we had to take a magnet and highlighter pen and replace it with a water-colour paint set and some balls of string ('cause you never know!)

After the initial disappointment of "WET And DRY" this cache was a blast; beautiful scenery on the walk and a challenging cache but still very accessible (although anyone with young kids like myself may be a bit wary)

Got to introduce a couple of friends to the hobby (who also happened to be the ones to find it – always a nice feeling your first time) so it was an altogether nice day out!

Took whistle, cards and key ring. Left bottle opener, lid-grip cloth and brush set.

The first cache that our family decided to take a group of friends along with us and, while the secluded beach itself was a nice find, the actual search for the cache was a bit of a bust. We looked in all the places we thought would make obvious hiding spots but no luck. The hint seemed to direct us away from where the GPS unit was pointing us toward (that might of being poor orientation skills on our part though) and didn't help much. Must have traipsed for over an hour in the localised area but we obviously weren't up to the task! Sad

But have no fear; will try again soon (even if just to spend the day out on a picnic)!

Found it!

Total newbies - had to use the clue to get it but an excellent hiding spot and we enjoyed the walk thoroughly.

Again my wife directed the clueless husband and the eagle eyes of the kids helped spot the cache. My 4 year old son, wanting to be more involved this time, dove head first into the hiding place to get it! Fearless (and brainless) I tells ya! Smile

Took the toy car (son) and bouncy ball (daughter). Left a "Pass the Pigs" game and a bookmark.

Thanks Geo_Gadget_Guy! Excellent cache!

Firstly - sorry for the long comment: our very first geocache hunt for me and the family!! (wife, 2 kids, no dog)

As it was our first time using the GPS we got a bit confused on how to read the unit (when the arrow "turned", we kept thinking it was near the "other side" and walked in back and forwards a few times). Eventually we kind of figured out you have to stop relying on technology and start using your eyes! Smile

My wife was a great help; kept prodding us to try and deduct the clues from your description and my 5 year old daughter was great for spotting things us tunnel-vision adults tend to overlook!

My 4 year old son was a bit grumbly at first but, with his "no brain, no pain" attitude, he was more than willing to carry our backpack of trinkets and ably lead us off the path through the spiders to get to the cache (finding keener's toy car as "treasure" certainly got him excited for more!)

(My family left some geek dice, "2006 Year of the Dog" playing cards and Chinese bookmark in place of the car, bandana and fridge magnet; I was just stoked to find the darn thing! Smile

The advice from this website (and others, such as geocacher-u) was a great help; my thanks to all for helping us newbies along! My only additional advice would be to wear some longish pants as some of those spiky plants have a bit of a bite to them! Smile

Re: the environment – I agree: as a resident of the area I to am disappointed about the state of the river; the amount of rubbish floating by as you walk along is pretty disgusting. Come "Clean-up Australia Day" my family and I hope we can do something about it!

Okay...'nuff rambling from this newbie!

Thanks 2 Dogs! An excellent cache for first time geocachers!

(Hmmm…I didn't realize it was had a difficulty rating of '2'; at least I know there are easier ones out there! Smile
